Knowing the Texans weren't taking VY I knew he was going to fall into Bud's hands and that I would be living in a nightmare here in Austin. I predicted more Titans news coverage than Texans, seeing Titans jerseys around town, and eventually the airing of Titans games over Texans games. Well, as I posted in another thread, the Academy's here are stocked up with VY Titans jerseys. No Texans or even Cowboys jerseys on the shelves yet. The second shoe dropped tonight with on the local news opening the sports segment with Titans training camp news, nothing about the Texans or Cowboys for that matter. Now let's just sit back and see if they decide to air Titans preseason games here over Texans games.
 
Thats why you need to leave your house sometime Hookem, and come watch the away games with us at the Saxon Pub www.thesaxonpub.com, dont you get the Ticket anyway? What do you care then? Other than the fact the Titans fans will be out and about in full force this year in the ATX.

It has nothing to do with winning, do you think if the titans hadn't drafted Vince Young that Austin stations would still be airing titans coverage over the Texans AND Cowboys?

That's one reason. Though, no I don't get the Ticket. I gave that up when we got the Texans because I have literal tickets and until last season they aired every Texan game but 1.

My concern is if the local CBS affiiliate put's it up to a literal vote or they let the viewers choose which games to air like they did last season. You know the Titans would win out because of Vince. Most people voting would probably be Cowboys/Longhorns fans that would just like to see their idol on the other channel so they can flip over during Cowboy game commercials.

I am looking at it totally different from you.

If the Texans have a strong season and go deep in the playoffs, they are going to a lot of attention, no matter who is on what team. Further, if the Texans were not in the position to pass on Vince last draft, this wouldn't be as big of an issue. The Texans have boxed themselves in a corner due to their poor play.

Bottom line, winning cures everything!

That is my point.

I think you are right. If the Texans were competitive last season they wouldn't have gotten pulled off the air here last season. However, if Vince Young is lighting it up, I wouldn't be shocked to see stations here opt for the Titans. We shouldn't have to worry about that this season since I doubt VY will be taking over the league during his rookie season.

So I will add to your bottom line, Texans winning and Vince busting will cure everything here.
 
Tonight our local news sports section led off with Vince Young, his signing, and some Titans training camp news followed by a story on Terrell Owens and the mention of the Cowboy camp moving to San Antonio next year. Oh, they did mention the Texans for like 2 seconds when they mentioned that VY's contract could exceed Mario's by $4 million.
 
It is nothing new for the local stations. For years, we got to follow Ricky Williams every move, at the expense of the Texans. Last year, they gave far more coverage to Cedric Benson. Because, Vince is viewed as one of the greatest players ever for the 'Horns, I can see why he is going to be the top story.

I feel that the Texans will just have to start winning before anyone else in this town will care about them.
 
I emailed the sports staff for K-EYE yesterday afternoon... still waiting for a reply.

If I don't hear back from them, then that will be 5 times that no one from the station has replied to my emails/phone calls.

Next step will be threatening to hassle their sponsors.

VY can be every story on every report for all I care. If they don't put the Texans back on TV, I'm gonna raise hell.

They might get back to you and they might not. I did this before, even set up a program to email daily for several weeks with different names but they only responded with a generic answer somthing like " We go where the money is".
Direct Tv is the only way to go, along with the NFL network, then you are assured of getting everything you need. I did not subscribe to the Ticket since I bought my season tix in 1999, but I reupped this year because I dont want to take any chances. Hoe or away I am going to be able to record, watch, or even see any othe game I want.
Direct TV Nfl Ticket, NFL Network is heaven on earth.
 
We were thrown a bone tonight. KVUE News started off sports with Titans training camp again, then went to the Cowboys where Parcells is saying that he won't change the offense to suit TO, THEN reported on how Mario is doing with the Texans (finally). The segment ended with them mentioning that Reggie "Leon" Bush is officially a hold out wanting more money than both Mario and VY.

BTW, ATX ... we seriously need to talk some Priest some day. I thought I was their biggest fan in the ATX.
