Like many, I am craving some Texan Football something awful....So I ask of you, What aspect or player are you most eager to see in pre-season ? I picked D.Carr...No this isn't another Carr thread...I just picked him, because to me he seems to have the biggest divide among fans, and I figure if he plays well in pre-season that should calm some people down...

I am looking forward to us looking like a real football team on the field. We haven't really done that yet and that is what excites me the most. To see us run a play and actually execute it to the "T" will be an awesome sight. I prefer that to watching us run around like a chicken with our head cut off in total chaos! :chicken:

You need to put all of the above because I am excited for just about every area of Texans football....

I am looking forward to seeing Ryans play the most, but that is not saying much.
It's like choosing between vanilla strawberry swirl and strawberry vanilla twist.

On a side note:

:challenge

I am tossing out a Coach's challenge on the illegal shift. You cannot start out by saying you are looking forward to watching Carr and then saying this is not a Carr thread.

You forgot the most important option: Winning. I know it's a pre-season poll but the most important thing is to win games for the team and for the fans.

The thread isn't about Carr...He just HAPPENS to be a part of the team

I'm looking at the o-line and how they respond to new coaching. All of our offensive hopes rest with how the line plays, because without a consistent pocket, Carr won't stand a chance to do anything. Same with the running game and opening consistent holes.

Of course I'm interested in the whole team, too.

There's the answer.

How the team executes based on the evaluation of each player and unit. As in putting players in a posiiton to succeed, which has been a lost art in our brief history.

So far every Carr thread has turned into offensive line, that turns into coaching, that turns into Davis, that turns into Johnson, that turns into draft, that turns into Mario, that turns into defensive line, that turns into wins and loses, that turns into weak linebackers.

You throw in a little more Chad, the DBs, and another kicker we can almost cover the team in every single Carr thread. The current one is talking about the defensive line right now. ( at least until you accept the challenge and rule this one the current Carr thread )

:)

EDIT: check that. O line is the currently on the Carr thread ticker.

Yes, but the Carr thread has morphed into the present and future of the o-line because of a statement Carr made. It isn't the usual "it's because the o-line sucks" talk.

Maybe it should be broken out to a new thread so that it doesn't create new, positive habits or detract form the Carr talk.

Everything turns into a Carr Discussion...I cant wait untill he plays just so everyone can see and all the speculation can come to an end.

AHHHHH!!! NO. I am just kidding man. Then Carr threads would start making making baby threads! The board would turn into an episode of Trouble with Tribbles.

I was just chatting the man up. It's the off-season.

I voted for the "new coaching style"--it would be nice to be able watch the game and see the team working as a team instead of worrying about pieces and parts.

Yeah the thing is though... you can't even say that. ( because we have said it every single year )

I will say this though... this is by far the most miserable off season I have ever sat through ( it tops the 2002 one ). Absolutely the worst.

Hot muggy can't sleep mosquito buzzing bad.
Yoko Ono singing shape shifting ninja crickets from Japan bad.
Warm flat beer bad.

Can we have a one year moratorium on the word "execute", and any of it forms?

One month to training camp! I didn't vote, because you can't select more than one.

That may the problem in that the team was executing upon an unexecutable plan. Make no mistake about it success is tantamount to executing on a sound plan.

I believe you performed an execution on my proposal.

:ohsnap:.......Or Maybe Carr just Sucks..... ... :sarcasm:

I agree...but it's kinda' sad that we're still making this statement after four seasons and 60 games. At some point an evaluation has to be made, so let's hope that it is, in fact, the 2006 season.

Of course, I'm hoping with all my heart that everything positive said about Carr turns out to be true! :redtowel:

All the above, anything Texan related, bring it on, I am ready... but I picked D.C. cause I am ready for him light it up!

Yeah...I think everyone is pretty much ready for D.C to light it up...I personally have been waiting for him to light it up since '02...

Ditto above of "working as a team vs. parts" and "no E words" along with I'm looking forward to is no scribble pads.

Tough decision, but with with new coaching style... I think it all starts there, or at least revolves around it.

Looks like people are more eager to see the outcome of D.Carr's play more than anything else...That is what I expected...

I'm looking forward to my first trip to Reliant on the Bucs game...but the coaching is what I'm most interested in seeing in the game. These aren't the same Texans anymore...

LOL

( I know. Laugh Out Loud is not cool, but I did it anyway )

Although you have to take into account that we are working off of a 30 person sample size of about 3,000,000 million fans.

That would actually be a cool stat. Who has the most fans.

Not a great sample of votes, but since he was our biggest signing of the off season I would expect many folks would like to see how this signing test drives due to the investment we made in him.

Wow... all those options reminds me of how much I can't friggin wait for the upcoming season!!!!!!!!!

This is not funny guys...

you all know that my grandma was executed... :crying:

back OT,

I also did not vote. I would personally vote for 'all of the above' + 'Seeing the New Cheerleaders'...

KT,

I believe that you are violating the spirit of the 'Carr as Car' metaphor moratorium.

tsk, tsk...

That war more salesperson than metaphor (granted sales have been slow today), as customers must kick those tires before they buy.

I am sensitive to the car analogies since Carr was on the front page of Texas Monthly with an auto on it. It hurt on many levels and promised myself not to use that metaphor intentionally moving forward.

Please accept my humble apology as I meant no disrespect to our Texas automobiles. :)

Agreed, I have to go with Mario though if I'm going to choose one. I can't wait to see what he can do in an NFL game.

Coaching style for me! That should cover some of the comments about Carr, positive or negative. We'll see what David can do with a new coach, better OL, some great vets, 4 yr's experience (no expansion team excuses) and HOPEFULLY, a better team attitude!! It all boils down to what Kubiak and his staff can do with this new and improved team! Coaching is the key! JMO!

mainly i just want us to look good and competitive in pre-season, put some nice drives together and make some good stops on defence. last year i think everybody could see we wouldnt have a good year in pre-season, because we simply just didnt do anything in PS last year

You know what I'm really looking for the most?

I keep thinking about those 3 little videos of the Texans' first game on YouTube and the EXCITEMENT and AGGRESSION that the players showed. Sharper and Foreman just couldn't wait for each next play to hit somebody and Bradford, of all people, was catching passes AND RUNNING OVER PEOPLE. I know that one game will never be again, but there was a time when this team had heart and serious want-to. Remember the opener against Miami the next year or those games against Jacksonville in year 3? This team almost beat Minnesota with Randy Moss. Somewhere late in year 3, this team started to lose faith, rightfully so, in it's coaching staff and then that last game of that year against Cleveland was just the end of all hope. I want to see some excitement and aggression on the field, because that makes a big difference in the results.

LOL..... I agree with the challenge!

I wanted two votes....so I assumed the "offensive" line is fixed and looking forward to a defensive line that demands a nickname.
