Texans sign FB Nick Luchey

Nick played for the Packers last year and my friend is a huge packers fan and he liked him a lot. I think Nick came in to tryout about a week or so ago and he obviously performed well if we signed him. This definately means the practice squad for Quadtrine Hill and I wouldn't be suprised if we put Lundy on the practice squad too (if we get another RB, which seems likely), to keep the most possible talent on the team.

Thank you... thank you .... I'll be here all week... dont forget to tip your waitress...

But seriously folks...

Shopping list: Like every other NFL team at this time of year, the Texans will be watching the NFL transaction wire closely over the next month in the hopes of adding some key additions before training camp. Kubiak addressed some of the team’s needs Monday.

“We’re going to continue to look,” Kubiak said. “I’ve talked about a veteran running back. We’re going to continue to look for a veteran fullback and this team, I think, will continue to look for a returner type, receiver guy. There won’t be a day where Rick (Smith) and I don’t see what’s going on.”

Who's next... running back...receiver return guy???

My moves if I was Rick Smith

Texans To Do List
Sign Fullback (Nick Luchey)
Trade for Running Back (Michael Bennett)
Cut Running Back (Antowain Smith)
and replace him (Stephen Davis)
Cut Cornerback (Lewis Sanders)
and sign Safety (Lance Shulters)
Play CB (Chris McKenzie) at Kick Returner

That's one big dude.
I read that he was the blocking back for the Edge at Miami.

Looks just like Emmitt Smith...but um, larger...and apparently doesn't like to wear his helmet.

Bro the guy looks like a DLineman returning a fumble for a TD. Thats a big boy, "BABY FRIDGE".

Someone needs to update his profile cause he is not 270-He looks like he is about 290, maybe he lost weight?

To me this really show Kubes faith in the MAD trio (Morency ASmith DD) I really thought the return guy was going to be a fourth rb and one fb was enough. Nothing is set though. ASmith or Luchey could still be cut.

Is Luchey really an upgrade over Norris? Luchey has some catches and runs.

It's really hard to see him at this point in his career as an upgrade from Norris. Yes he's huge, but he has never been secondary dump guy. He is not known to have soft hands, and has virtually never been called on to carry the ball. But we will see......the System may welcome him.

He was cut by the Packers early on in the season and went to the Bengals where he was inactive for every game.

Does this say anything about how Jameel Cook has looked so far?
From what I have understood we have been looking for a 'goal line' back all off-season, and he could be a candidate.

When you showed the pic, the first things I said were Goal Line Package and special teams.

I don't think it says alot about Jameel Cook. I think it just adds to the competition that will be in our camp this season.

Excellent analysis, vinny!!!!

Vinny, I have noticed that people tend to stroke you at times (not that you don't deserve a little), but this takes the cake... oh, IMO

Nick will provide some good competition at Fullback for my boy Patrick Hape, when Hape isn't playing TE. Looks like Cook is the starter, with everybody else as backups.

Right on the money. Vinny cant get of a single post without praise, and admiration. Although I like his takes, it gets old.

I don't think this says anything about Jameel Cook, since his skill set (blitz pickup, hands and getting out on routes) appears to be entirely different than this guy. Kubiak involves his FBs and TEs more than we've ever seen in an offense - and in many different ways. One guy isn't going to have it all. Although I don't know what Luchey has that Norris doesn't (other than the extra bag of ready mix he's carrying around).

It looks like he's just robbed a ham from the buffet table at the local Golden Corral there in Green Bay and is running full stride to escape the authorities.

Whaddya expect the man to do. They let you load up on Mac n cheese and green beans but only gives ya one slice of ham! It needed to be done and Nick was just the man to do it.

I just have to laugh. If you guys have seen X-men 3 Juggernaught has some of the funniest lines. Luchey with a ham following in Juggernaught's footsteps.

Just great stuff.

I was actually hoping that Quadtrine Hill made the team. I suppose that he and Jameel Cook are pretty similar players. Don't know too much about Nick Luchey but he appears to be more of a blocker and goal line FB.

Still I wonder what this means for Hill.

Now that you mention it, Juggernaut's death in X-Men 3 was absolutely hilarious. He was an unstoppable force...I'll stop, since I don't want to ruin the movie. :ok:

Anyway, I haven't heard much of Luchey's catching skills, so could he be our 3rd RB?

At least he did not offer to have Vinny's babies :)

i just figured if i didn't repost this picture with a comment my account would be banned. Vinny your a picture finding machine....

No but seriously i hope he has some good hands at least....cause i can't stand to see a man that big fumbling. Being that they usually run the ball in the most intense situations (goal line, 3rd/4th and short).

LOL.....I just call 'em like I see 'em.

Q Hill just got cut, cool name but average game

You scared me...when I first read the post I actually thought that Quadtrine was cut...this means practice squad for him...he has talent and if FB was more valuable in the NFL he would have been drafted, so it's not like it means he's bad because he didn't get drafted, it just means he wasn't the best FB in the draft. In a couple years he'll be starting :logo:

He DID get cut, he will probably go to camp with another team. I am sure the cowgirls will want him.

O wow...I checked the depth chart last night and he was still on there, and now he's not. Darn! I'm guessing that means only one fullback on the roster. Maybe two with Luchey but I don't think that will happen. I wonder why we cut him over Damien Rhodes :hmmm:
