Marcus Coleman Update

Cowboys Puff Piece on how he is doing

Although his confidence remains high, Coleman admits he can improve on last year's performance. The Texans benched Coleman after he missed a walk-through practice in early December, getting deactivated for that game, and then he was pulled from the starting lineup the final four regular-season games.

The Texans would release him at season's end, and after watching several safeties, such as Will Demps, Chris Hope, Corey Chavous and Adam Archuleta, land high-dollar, free-agent contracts, Coleman settled for just a one-year deal with the Cowboys on April 18 worth just $885,000. He would only receive a $40,000 signing bonus.

So the combination of a disappointing 2005 season, coupled with being overlooked in free agency, has Coleman eager to prove himself back in his hometown.

"I do, and some of it is personal," Coleman said. "Last year wasn't the greatest year of my career. It wasn't like the year before. I just want to let everyone know that I'm still a good football player. I'm still capable of making big plays like I've always had and still capable of helping my team win."

If Coleman makes the Cowboy squad, he was mailing it in last year or the Cowboy secondary is worse than I thought.

He'll miss a lot tackles too, or show up the pile right when the play is over, just like a :chicken: . He completely perfected that move last year.
