Even with a much better team, who will drop the ball?

This year, I have been very very happy with the moves that I see. So many and with such potential, its awesome. That being said, who do you feel might be our weakness this year? Which player that stays who you wish that was cut. You only get to pick one.

I think our DB's will be our weakness. Always have been and we didn't do much to shore up our defensive backs this year. Great moves elsewhere but our DBacks.:twocents:

Bobby 119C

I wouldn't say I wish he'd get cut, but I have some doubts about Travis Johnson. I know he's been playing out of position and he's only a second year player but he is going to be a disappointment. He may develop into a regular starter but he won't be worth the pick we used to get him. I wish I could point to something more specific that makes me feel this way, but he doesn't seem to have the motivation.

Man, that's a tough one....my initial reaction is Buchanan. But he's supposed to be working real hard in practice on that tackling concept, so we'll see.

:fortune: I predict someone will pick Carr on the first page of this thread...

The long snapper.
See, we won't be in punting situations too often, so when we need to punt, he'll be rusty.

Yeah, at least its not a very bad problem to have. I hope you are right :)

My gut instinct was McKinney, but he's not a center. Let's see how he does at guard. After that....gimme a second.....quit rushing me....I dunno. I just looked at the roster and couldn't decide. IMHO, I will wait til this time next year to decide and give the guys the same clean slate Kubes is. Seems fair enough to me.:poker:

I'm thinking Carr will pass for the NFL single game record this year, either against Oakland, Jets or Browns. It's gonna come later in the year. Just MHO

is that a hope for the 1st game or the whole season :heh:

Not a hope, a prediction.

Harry is just :fishing: , he actually likes Carr's abilities and has said so on another board. On the subject at hand, PBuc is the easy choice, however, I will go with Peek. I don't think he will be able to keep it under control and will be to much of a liability against the run.

Killjoy!

I just admitted that in another thread.:hides:

Hahaha, you've been caught twice. If anyone drops the ball this year it will be either Flanagan or Carr, on a bad snap... thats it, we're gonna have great season <--- First ever football prediction.

Fair assessment. That is definitely his achilles heel.

This is easy, its either Faggins or Peek, but most likely both. If either one of them start or see a good deal of PT, our team is going to have a top 5 draft pick next year. They both need to be cut and gosh dangit, if I had the money, I would pay to have their saleries "eaten".

i was gonna go with p buc but ill see what he can do this season with the pass rush we have now, but other than that i'd say todd wade

I think this has gotta be the stupidest thread i have ever seen. everyone or almost everyone agrees we have a good start on the season and things are looking up, now you are gonna LOOK for something to go wrong? for someone to fail? thats just sick , yall should be ashamed. hey heres an idea, let them actually play a game before you dismantle them?

GO TEXANS!

hm the first thought that comes up to mind is P-Buc he didnt do too much last season
Which means he can't drop the ball, seeing as he never had it, it always sailed over him or was carried through or around him.

Just got through seeing Brokeback Mountain. I can't believe they cut up Bubble Boy like that...

Your the one who should re-think what your saying here. Every team no matter how good has one or two players that do not make the impact they should or live up to thier hype. This forum is asking who you might think it is. If you cannot handle the question, maybe you might be on the wrong message board. Everyone here is thinking this will be a much better season, but you are always going to have someone that disappoints.. get real.

I think Faggins is going to surprise some people this season . He didnt play poorly last year with a pathetic pass rush , He made some plays and gave up a few . Several of the plays he didnt make he was in good position and the recievers made great plays themselves .... Show me a team with no pass rush and Ill show you DB's that cant cover .

As for Peek , I'd like to see him put it all together this season . But If I had to pick one player on this team to have a rough year it would be Peek . He is a complete liability in coverage and against the run he just cant hold the edge .

I think the guy that has already been out. Jerome Mathis. His attitude has been disappointing to this point in the season. I was expecting him to excel and make a step to being a receiver so that we could put him on the field along side Moulds or Johnson to create mismatches and due to his irresponsibility we now have to go with other options.

I know this sounds harsh but he has disapointed ME. I want nothing more than to see this dude come in and succeed because in my opinion everytime he gets the ball special things can happen and this year that won't be the case until October if Kubes keeps him.

You haven't seen the movie have you? It is a good movie, sort of a modern Romeo and Juliet. Of course, most 14 year olds don't see the connection, they just think its about two Dallas Cowboys.

I have a feeling that the only guy who would drop the ball is one of our undrafted FA's. I think this team is solid and has good depth. Should we ever play our fourth team against anyone else's, we'd win for sure.

What the heck do you have against those two. If Faggins has to play it's because Phillip Buchanon dropped the ball. Antwan Peek has been great so far in practice and if he's not performing well than we have Jason Babin right behind him. That's not much of a drop off. If they do "drop the ball", it wouldn't be that bad as if David Carr was doing horrible because we have nobody behind him. You must be really high on our players if you think those two will be the one's dropping the ball.

I think this is a good question, but I think we should really ask who will pick up the slack when it happens.

I think it will be on the defensive side, look for the rookie duo of Williams and Ryans stealing the show after picking up the pieces.

I really think Ryans is going to shine this year. He will be the glue to our defense this year. Daunta will still add his leadership and flare, but this isn't this unit to run anymore IMO...Ryans will take over the unit leadership.

These are the two guys who are overhyped the most, and who underpreform the most. Faggins is being touted like he is starter material. He was not in good position last year, and he bit on more double moves than daunta his rookie year. He also doesn't have the make-up speed to recover. I just think that since so many people think the guy is bound to sucede, that there will be a heck of a lot of disappointment in Texan nation after he falls flat on his face.

Peek, he is an interesting player. He has a very high energy level, but he lacks the frame or the play recognition to play at the level most of our fans believe he plays at. Yes, he is more explosive than Babin off the line, but often he explodes right past the play. He is very easily washed out of the play far too often. Peek struggles to adapt to the run, or even use a second move. He uses a speed rush to the outside and very rarely uses his inside arm to "upercut the linemens armpit".

David Carr has never had a chance to hold the ball. He has never had ample oppertunity to play at the NFL level. I am not a direhard Carr fan, but I recognize that his shortcomings are not solely due to him, nor solely due to his lack of O-line. Carr must step up, but I feel he will. I do not feel that Carr is likely to "drop the ball". One thing I do gauren-damn-tee is that Carr has a better year than Vince.

LOL......Was Jerry Jones in the movie? He looks like a drag queen.

Yep....with all the fumbling in Tennessee this offseason it looks like Vince is being set up for a fall. That's one franchise that could be in trouble. I know everyone hates that for Bud.

Hate to do it but Ive gotta agree w/ you on Mathis being the biggest possible drop off in productivity but I seriously doubt Kubiak will cut the guy ,(although it is a possibility) he has huge potential and a small contract .... just about any team in the league would snatch him up if he were let go .
I really hope this guy puts it all together SOON because every time he touches the ball he can score ..... But he cant do that from the end of the pine . Maybe the :lightbulb: will go off if he gets benched ....
