Top 6 Potential QB disasters...

#5 Houston - Every Texan fan will be watching how Vince Young and Matt Leinart do this season and every season thereafter. Gary Kubiak, who coached one of the best in John Elway, believes he can fix David Carr and make him very productive. Kubiak is staking his career on just that. Carr has been a workout warrior this season, repaying the new coach's belief in him. In Kubiak's first draft, he chose defense over offense, which proves he's very much a modern-day gambler.

I don't know about that Matt Leinart line, but the gamble sure is on.

The rest of it is ok, but there are more then just 5 disasters brewing. Alex Smith in SF #1 pick pressure, Bledsoe in Dallas ( what happens if they start losing with TO ), Tampa Bay with Simms and Rattay ?!?!?.

The deal in Tennesse doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. They are going to tank and then try and put it together the following season after this one.

Not this Texan fan.

I would rather go with Carr over either one of those two.

If by some chance Carr does not succeed, then I would prefer Brady Quinn over Young or Leinart. Fat chance of getting him though.

But have no fear. Carr will succeed and make believers out of all the Carr haters around here...:neener:

Choosing defense over offense is gambling? How do you spell clueless? ans: FOX!

:coffee:

Kubiak has a good understanding of how to put a QB in the best possible position to succeed (see Jake Plummer). The Texans will be fine with Carr. We'll have to wait to see if they can become great.

It's great to see that he is putting a lot of effort into this year. He could easily not have been on this team if it wasn't for Kubiak and he will prove this year that Kubiak made the right decision.

nothing is even as remotely horrible as tennessee's QB situation. the fallout with mcnair, drafting young, leaving the franchise to billy volek. disaster.

Tenn Qb situation is not bad at all -- the Titans will make nice with McNair and get everything worked out before the season starts. If they don't work it out with Steve -- Volek lit it up everytime he played so he is a solid starter in the event McNair gets delt. Vince Young is a gamer if he gets thrown out in the fire as a 1st year starter he will suceed as he has everywhere else he has played. However the Titans will do what it takes to keep Young off the field his first season and bring him up as they did Young.

Not a bad situation at all in Tenn.

Volek was a great option at #2 QB last year for the Titans. He did a great job filling in for McNair when he was hurt. He will do fine if he has to step up and become the #1 QB.

volek is average. although it doesn't matter how good or bad he may be, just drafting vince young proves how ridiculously stupid they are. first pacman, now this.

Reverse that and you have a bingo. I think Volek = Cody Carelson. A nice back up but once you give him the reigns...his game is exposed.

It should also be noted that Volek was two years older than David though and David only sat behind him for one year (redshirted another), so it's not like Volek was better than David in college.

Well hopefully Kubiak does a better job with Carr than he did with Brian Griese. Hopefully he turns out more like Jake Plummer.

I just saw this stat that the Titans were the youngest football team in the NFL last year, and are close to being it this year. Too many young players usually spells disaster.

It looks like the Titan community is starting rally around that Volek character, and I had no idea about the Volek-Carr relationship... should make for some good game banter.

We better not lose. :)

Griese really wasn't that awful in Denver. He had some off the field issues that definitely hurt his long term standings with the club, but he was far from a bust. He had some trouble staying healthy as well, which hurt his chances.

In the 4 years as the primary starter he averaged about 3,000 yards. That seems low, but his best year he only started 10 games because of injury and the other three he played in 13, 14, and 15 games. He threw for 71 tds against 53 Ints. His completion percentage was in the low 60% range. His QB rating would average out to above 80 for the 4 year stint with a 102 in his best season.

He's wasn't, and still isn't, a great QB. He isn't horrible, though. He had the talent, but when a team like Denver only gets to the playoffs 1 time while you are the QB you won't last long.

#1 QB disaster: Vince Young
Ol' Bud is trying to stick it to houston by taking Young. Its already biting him back with Young having trouble learning the playbook. I can't wait for Young to start playing, we are going "Wreck Shop" on them boys!

Great pick Bud! texanpride
