The Houston Texans have signed free agent LB Barrett Green (Giants) to a one-year contract with a base salary of $585,000.

i dont know anything about him... anyone got some insight?

Well if no one knows him or anything then I don't if he's good or not. Usually players like thim that come out of the blue don't do good in most of their career.

Looks like he hasn't played much since the middle of '04. Seems to be built like a will linebacker....a tampa2 will.

He was originally an undrafted pick and was released in Feb of this year. Reason???.............ankle and knee injuries which landed him on injured reserve in both of the last 2 seasons with the Giants. BTW, Vinny's right on..........he was used as the weak side LB.

Looking back over the last couple of years.....

"Oft-injured" is a kind description.

Sneezing and getting out of bed appears to be high risk activity for this guy.

Anyone else remember this play? For some reason I recall seeing this on Prime Time:

Giants | Green Ejected - from www.KFFL.com
Sun, 28 Nov 2004 21:29:24 -0800

New York Giants LB Barrett Green was ejected from Week 12's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to the Associated Press. The ejection came midway through the fourth quarter, after Green drove his hand into the facemask of Eagles LB Jeremiah Trotter, during an altercation near the Giants' bench. Trotter had forced Giants' QB Eli Manning out of bounds on a scramble, and officials threw a flag against Trotter for a late hit. Green then shoved his hands into Trotter's face, resulting in offsetting penalties.

Looks like at best he would be depth if he can stay on the field. At least he seems to have some fire.

Depth? I'll say - we now have 16 linebackers on the roster.

when healthy he seems to be an average player with good speed and mobility...i figure he could be a solid backup if one of our guys goes down, i have to say i like the pickup because he's cheap and can fill depth...

Why not? We need to let the opposing players continue to take unrequited cheap shots at our players and not respond because it might cause a penalty. That's B.S.

Sometimes you need a player to respond regardless if it is penalized.

Opposing players gotta know that cheap shots at our players will not be tolerated..

Nice guys usually finish last. Gotta play a little nasty sometimes. :dangit:

Thats my :twocents: and I ain't changing my mind.

Yup, there have been a couple of times (flatning JJ and the hit by the Jags on DC) that should have resulted in a flatout brawl, but we just stood around with our hats in our hands. The problem with Peeks responses as they are USUALLY not related to a item like those, but rather it's just him losing his composure and usually at the exact wrong time.

Barrett Green is turd.

He is oft injured, weak at the point of attack, and will often overun tackles along with being patethic in coverage.

But he's fast.

That's pretty classy.

Welcome to the town Barrett--not everyone here has to be insulting even if they don't think you will make the team.

He has a shot to make the team, but we are really stocked at LB right now. It's going to be a tough road but you never know if he could stay healthy he may be a solid backup.
