Lets hope the Raiders win tonight

Old School
so that we will be underdogs next week. Winning two in a row will be hard enough, but winning two in a row AND winning a game we are favored to win? Lets not get crazy here.

Yes, Raiders need to win. The worse thing to happen to us was to open with a game "we should win". I would have much rather opened with a game like New England or Green Bay. I had bad vipes from the beginning of the San Diego game and I could feel it in the crowd also.

Looks like the Raiders are going to win handily. KC's OLine looked very good, but after watching the Raiders line in action all I can say is Uh Oh. We'll be in for yet another powerful OLine. Gannon went out, and he might not play next week. Collins looked even better than Gannon did in their offense. They have some pretty good WR that are pretty quick, but their running game isn't very scary. Although Weatley did break a big one against the Bucs. Their secondary looks to be pretty tough, and Sapp looks pretty good as a DE in the 3-4. It will be tough for us to win 2 straight, but after today's game I like our chances.

I'm guessing we will be slight favorites against the Raiders even though they are blowing out TB right now.

The lines should be close, but I think we'd be the slight underdog in this one. Their D looks more solid than ours, and their O-line is pretty good too.

Would be nice to get the refs on our side again for next week's game.
Wonder if Warren Sapp does that skipping routine of his in game warm-ups yet .. bumping into the officials and being generally classless.

Da Raiiiideeers, looked pretty good last night. We will need to be clicking and not making mistakes to take this one. I said early in the preseason that last year was an anomilie and that they would be at LEAST an 8-8 team and possibly as good as a 10-6 team. Probably not in the playoffs, but close.

I'm just as concerned with Ted Washington. He will manhandle the middle of our line. McKinney against Washington is like Dana Carvey against Arnold.

lol: Now that is funny but it will not be for Carr. McKinney has been the weak link in the line but he is better than the alternatives. Todd Washington gave a lot of talk at the beginning of the season on how he would like to be the starting center instead of McKinney but I guess he didn't do enough in the preseason to make it happen. McKinney gets worked over by most top tier nose tackles and two-techniques and the Texans have/will face a lot of them. Hopefully McKinney will reach down and grab his.....heart, to upgrade his performance from mediocre to average.

this will be the first game of the season i'll be able to be at...personally i think this should be one of the best games of the year in the nfl not just for us...i look for this game to come down to the last second and another game winning kick oppurtunity for k.brown...but that's just me

I think we will be underdogs against the Raiders, and rightfully so.

Yes, I definately think we will be underdogs. And as you say, rightfully so. Their o-line will definately give Collins time. I hope Fangio draws up a really good aggressive game plan, we will need it. Their d-line against our o-line on paper (and film for that matter) looks pretty scary at the moment.

Thing about Collins....alot of times the backup will come in and have success because the team has not prepared for him. The Texans will have all week. Besides, we've beat Collins at Reliant before...

Good point Swisher...only thing that I throw some caution on is the fact that it will work both ways. Norv Turner's offensive scheme is far more suited to the vertical drop back passer like Collins as opposed to Gannon. Collins is a quality QB who throws down the field as good as anyone in the NFL as long as he has some good protection, which he appears to have. I think that Turner will work to exploit the advantages of Collins in his scheme...if we can get pressure that will be huge for us.

It will not matter which QB they start if we don't get pressure on them. They are both solid QBs. IF, and that is a HUGE if at this point, we are able to get pressure then Collins would be the better of the two as he has more difficulty with pressure, but he has the better deep ball.

Collins will bomb Dunta Robinson until he's covered in yellow flags from head to toe. THAT scares me. The Raiders ground game does not. It's a good chance to get Peek more involved, considering the pass-rush opportunities should be greater.

Wish I could be at Reliant for this one. I see a LOT of long passes getting tossed in this matchup. I just hope the game doesn't take 5 hours because of all the penalties they'll draw.
