what i dont understand is that everyone is saying that shantee orr is to small to play the sam linebacker hes listed at 6ft 250, demeco rans is less than 240.i say we put orr(who played his ass of last year when everone els gave up)at sam.cowart is the predicted mike backer but is older than the hills ands game is rapidly declining. i say we put our most athletic and physical linebacker-ryans at mike, which means greenwood who had well over 100 tackles last year is the will.thats not to bad of a lineup. what our yalls thoughts and opinions?

greenwood-ryans-orr

would someone help me out, im new to this message board stuff.when i try to reply to a thread i press reply and write out my message and press submit reply, but it allways goes to a page of all the things i have wrote and never to the thread im trying to reply to?

Well, Ryans isn't really our most athletic LB. He also isn't the ideal size for ILB, but I wouldn't mind if he played that spot.

Greenwood could be a June 1st cut as well.

than who is our mostathetic linebacker? and greenwood ainnt goin nowear

Orr, Peek, Anderson, Greenwood...all of them are more athletic than Ryans, but Ryans is a better LB than all of them.

well maybe not the most athletic but isnt 6'2 240 good size for a middle linebacker and from what i hear hes pretty smart

Yes, it is good size. Yes, he is VERY smart.

He is a player and will be a great addition to our team.

Its my opinion that the MLB in the 4-3 defense should primarily be a run stuffing, offense reading type of guy. Cowart fits this perfectly. Ryans a more dynamic player, and would best be used on the outside

sounds good but i think in the future ryans could be the answer at mike, behind what imo is going to be a real good d-line

weaver-tj-smith-weaver

Im assuming you meant Williams, as it would be tough to either A) sign another guy named Weaver, B) not play our #1 overall pick and C) play two positions on the DL at the same time

ur right g-texan im pretty much just a freaking idiot arent i. at my school i play in the secondary, and everytime i see a runningback over about 115pounds i .................try to get the hell out of the way!!!:hides:

Im still very confused

PS: I never played soccer because I was (still am haha) afraid of the ball. What of it?

maybe i understand...where did ya'll get the idea he is not athletic...just because he didn't run a 4.5 40 he isn't athletic?...demeco ryans is awesome linebacker...he should be one of our starters at the linebacker along with greenwood...as far as the third linebacker spot it's up for grab and that's most likely the mike linebacker spot

i dont see Greenwood getting cut, hes a good player, and will benefit from the switch to 4-3

That is quite a talent if Weaver can start on both sides at the same time. :tease:

And some folks say he isn't real fast. Two spots at the same time is FAAAST.:redtowel:

For now the lineup will be:

Greenwood-Cowart-Ryans

Ryans will likely move to the Mike position in time, but right now it is about putting our best group on the field. As it currently stands this means that Ryans will play the Sam position. Also, Ryans is VERY good in coverage. He will be a nice option on the TE.

To those thinking greenwood is going somewhere, you are crazy. He was ill suited for the 3-4, which is why he signing initially was curious. However, he is an ideal weakside LB in the 4-3. He has above average speed and coverage skills. He is not a run-stuffer, nor will he be called upon to to do this in our new scheme.

I think he will play both OLB, and ILB. I also think Cowart was brought in to teach Demeco.

IMO Cowart will play MLB (Mike) on NON passing downs, and ILB on 3-4 defense plays. Wong will tag along when they swap to 3-4 at ILB. Ryans and Greenwood will play OLB.

In the 4-3 Demeco will play the WILL OLB position on NON passing downs, and will switch over to MIKE for passing downs.

JMHO

Greenwood - Wong - Cowart - Ryans

Greenwood - Ryans - Wong

I also believe that Ryans may be the future MLB of our team if he doesn't end up starting there at the beginning of the season. I think I would like to eventually see the line up of:
Greenwood-Ryans-Orr
Ryans has enough size to play the MLB and is reported to have great instincts, which are essential. Orr is the Texans equivalent of the Astros Chris Burke, always plays hard and produces when given an opportunity in limited starts.
