The Texans did get something right in the draft

Frills

The day that an Owner/GM/Coach listens to the fans when making decisions pertaining to the future of the organization, they should be fired.

The draft was one of the better ones we've had, FA helped where needed, new schemes on both sides of the ball, along with a new attitude.

Everything that was wrong last season, from the vanilla, passive, 3-4 defense that never went balls to the wall, to the offense that was so afraid to commit a turnover that it relegated itself to 5 yard curl routes and never tried to win, but just keep it close...is history.

There is a reason Pendry isn't coaching, and Capers is now a D-coord.

This is our team, what we wanted 96 hours ago doesn't mean jack. These are still our boys and we should support them 100%.

Enjoy

dont remember who said it.. but there is a football saying...

"if you listen to the fans you will soon be sitting with them."

or something along those lines.

I'm looking forward to a great, fun season. Maybe not a lot of wins, but at least more competitive and with better spirit.

That's probably one of the best descriptions of last years offense and defense that I have ever read. A defensive that either didn't want (or didn't understand how) to force a punt, and a high school offense.

This year we will have a 4-3 defense (a very good idea for us) and some new faces, including Super Mario. Our offense is completely revamped to Kubiaks liking.... options downfield but an active threat with the run.

All in all.... we will do very well next year.

I hope our FO never listens to fans when it comes to football decisions. We are the most myopic group of people, and I mean that in the most loving way.

I'll drink the "defense will make us better" Kool-aid... I actually want to believe that bringing in DL will make the Texans better, faster and directly leading to more wins. The last thing I want is to be in week 5 again realizing that we basically need to win 9 of the next 11 for the slightest hope of a playoff spot.

Does anyone else remember how awful it was going game by game, and just feeling awful Monday morning, aching that hopefully things would flip a 180 over the course of a week.

No thank you... give me anything to prevent that, whoever the Texans deem that to be.

I'm willing to put cash dollars on the notion that Pburnt wouldn't have that nickname if the opposing QB actually had to face just a smigeon of pressure

yeah, it was brutal. We didn't even bother tailgating the last couple of games. In part because our canopy blew apart, but also because it was enough just to drag ourselves to the games. Man, hope to never go through that again (at least for a long, long time!).

I think Buchannon's problem is that he is not really suited for zone coverage. He needs to play man to man. Of course, he also needs to hit RBs when they come his way.

.. and then?

Eeeyu. I did tailgating all last year - it was the only bright spot, well except for the glimmer of hope that we'd win another game. I think there was one time in season 2 that I didn't tailgate and went straight to the game - never again. Tailgating is a major part of the experience.

Back to topic - agree Frills, I'm glad we have a stronger willed front office this time around. It appears to be the correct decision to this point (w/o the season starting as of yet - high optimism) but interestingly it's the same owner, same GM.... just changed their "front line" of coaches.
