Mr. Benson will have something to say about that.
He'll be lucky if he even gets 20 mill guaranteed...:stirpot:
"So, what pen do want as your signing bonus? The blue or black one?"

Well he's also got Subway and Adidas to cover any difference. He won't be in a soup line any time soon.

Not to mention that he should be able to hit his mom up for a loan if things get tight. Not having to pay rent for a year has got have some kinda positive pressure on their savings accounts.

Not only is he not the #1 overall pick. He is also going to a team that has no starting C,LG,LT

*shakes his head at this uninformed dedicated ignorance*

The depth chart won't be updated until training camp and I highly doubt any team has updated their depth chart after the draft, but the o-line is predicted to be:

Center - Jeff Faine Acquired via trade with the Cleveland Browns
Left Guard - Jonathan Goodwin UFA from the New York Jets
Left Tackle - Jammal Brown Last years stud rookie tackle from Oklahoma
Right Guard - Montrae Holland 4 year veteran from Florida State
Right Tackle - Jonathan Stinchcomb 4 year veteran from Georgia

What about Mayberry? When did the Saints get Jeff Faine?

Ohhh Jeff Fain, are you really bragging about a cast-off from teh Browns, espically one picked by Butch Davis?

What the deal with Deuce McCallister? I mean why would you draft Bush if you have a high quality back such as that?

LOL!! That's what I was thinking.

Yeah I was thinking why Dallas fans are on a Houston board and not the Cowboy board?

It's the NFL section but don't Dallas have an NFL section?

If anybody would be understanding about drafting a RB when another talented RB is on the roster it'd be McCallister.

Reasons for drafting Bush:
1. He can play more than just RB.
2. McCallister doesn't have the greatest health history.
3. McCallister can be traded/cut.
4. Bush is better than McCallister.
5. Bush will sell out the Super Dome.
6. Imagine if the Saints do move to California.

Ok this makes "0" sense.

1. Ok he can play KR. (see Desmond Howard, another Heisman Trophy winner to play KR)
2. Realisticly most RB's don't. When bush only plays 15-18 touches a game, then sure he has a lesser injury risk factor, but play him 25-20 and tell me he's superman.
3. McCallister is one the highest paid RB's, he's not going anywhere without a heavy cap hit.
4. Ummm....not yet.
5. There aren't enought people to sell out anything in N.O.
6. Imagine if he did, it could turn out to be a bad move where there is no support for the team ala Rams.

Vernon Davis was in tears, Bush doesn't look too happy.........

Ms. Cleo claimed to be a psychic. Of the reasons I listed, how many of them are predictions?

1. He can play more than just RB. - That's a simple fact. Meaning at times, Bush and McCallister can be on the field at the same time.

2. McCallister doesn't have the greatest health history. - Another simple fact.

3. McCallister can be traded/cut. - Another simple fact.

4. Bush is better than McCallister. - This is an opinion...not a fact or a prediction.

5. Bush will sell out the Super Dome. - Here's my one prediction...I like my chances.

6. Imagine if the Saints do move to California. - This is neither an opinion, fact or prediction.

That's the nature of the business. The City of New Orleans didn't draft Bush...the football team did.

1. He can line up as a WR as well. See point #1 above.

2. So it sounds like it'd be a good idea to have Bush as insurance for McCallister and vice versa. That way neither have to worry about carrying too much of a load.

3. Really? Steve McNair would be an enormous cap hit as well. Is that holding up the Titans from finding a way to cut ties with him?

4. I'd take my chances with Bush. And I'm a big believer in McCallister's abilities.

5. Ummmm...not yet.

6. That could happen...not that I'd care. There was a reason Houston was given an NFL team over LA despite the league wishes...they don't deserve one.

On top of already have a good RB in McCallister, they also signed Micheal Bennett as a free agent. So now their backfield could be really crowded.

But the logic is simple really. When you have an opportunity to draft a talent like Bush...you don't pass it up. Most understand this...some don't.

People should really stop using this argument. It's easily defeatable with one name.

The Texans still managed to get an A-B grade on the draft.... some people understand this............. some don't.

Are you aware of how many drafts are given good grades days after the draft is over and turn out to be crap?

football only, start naming them.
Heh...you can use the same team.

New Orleans drafted Deuce McCallister 2 years after drafting Ricky Williams in the 1st round. Think they made the right choice?

See how easy that was?

All you proved was that "Yes, you can pass up drafting a player of remarkable talent."

I mean, c'mon. What was the point of using that example?

All I understood was that Ricky Williams was once considered a talent that could not be passed up, and he turned out to be a talent that should have been passed up.

On that instance, yes, they made the right choice, after making a bad one, but you were supposed to be finding proof that "When you have an opportunity to draft a talent like Bush...you don't pass it up. Most understand this...some don't"
Not, we screwed up on this one guy, so we fixed it 2 years later.

As I said, New Orleans drafted Duece McCallister two years after drafting Ricky Williams.

Williams' first two seasons in the league:
12 games, 253 carries, 884 yards
10 games, 248 carries, 1000 yards

Was there anything within those two years that made the Saints think they made a mistake?

It's no secret they were'nt happy with Ricky..... they looked at it as if it was a mistake to ever have him on that team. Maybe, they new something we didn't.......... maybe??

Then they give Duece a big payday...... and then sign Michael Bennet..... then they draft Reggie Bush.......... Because they needed a running back.

They've got a QB with stats better than David Carr's, never had a rating below 80(I think, or almost never), and just gives him away........ Even after firing their coaches, meaning they knew they had coaching problems....

Let's just say, that just because the Saints did it, doesn't mean it was the right thing to do.

If you can gaurantee me that Ricky will straighten up, then I'd take him today, for his stats......... but he's done stuck it to Miami again..... I'm pretty sure getting rid of Ricky(who at that time, wore his helmet for 2 hours straight, and didn't sit with his team) had little to do with what he did on the field.

.

I just heard something about 15,000 Reggie Jersey pre-ordered. Hmm must be alot of other cities buying his jersey? Yesterday I read that they have record ticket sales first because of Brees and now Bush.( Starting to sound like the Astros with all the bees). I bet some displaced fans will make the road trips.

Yes we do. Until this MB has a no Cowboy fan policy, I'll keep posting here. I very seldom post in the main forum here, I try to stay in the NFL forum and the tailgaiting forum. This Cowboy fan just hooked up one of your fellow Texans fans with a Blue Parking Pass to the Oct 15th game. I cant be that bad if I'm gettting Texan fans into the Blue Lot to tailgate and talk trash about my Cowboys and the famous 19-10 game. I know that will be brought up many times that day. May even drink some beer with them the night before the game.

Any news on a contract?
I wouldn't be surprised if he fires his agent. Plus, he has to wait for VY to sign a contract to make sure Bush gets max value. Before that, the Titans have to clear cap space by moving McNair. Before that, the Titans have to figure out a trade with the Ravens. Before that, Benson needs a new toupee.

I hope Major knows what he is doing. I would hate to see the Titans take advantage of his inexperience.

Dude...Jammal brown is bieng moved to LT...We got Faine (Center) from The Browns in a draft trade, and we have Nesbit and Stinchcomb to play Guard...

it's just not updated yet..hence the word ''UNOFFICIAL'' depth chart...

If you go to the Saints website, and hit unofficial depth chart...that is the link He's showing...This whole thread was started on false premise...

Why are Saints fan's so happy to have the bust-tastic (new adjetive for Lendale and Byron, with an alt meaning for Draft busts?) Faine?

This guy has been put on the trading block for the last two years, nad only untill now was he moved? He was picked by Butch freakin' Davis?

So in other words...Jeff Faine is a SPARE!
