WAIT A MINUTE....AJ Hawk

WE NEED DEFENSE.......Uh, aren't the Texans bad at middle LB also. Those guys didn't play to well last season either. I'm switching my overall choice to AJ Hawk! Our version of Ray Lewis. If we need defense so bad, I hear no other names. This guy was a freak at OSU, and was a phenom at the combine!

As good as Hawk is, he won't impact the pass rush like Williams. If they go D, it's 100% guaranteed to be Williams. They need a disrupter in the backfield who can put fear in the opposing QB.

uh oh, he's on to you, Porky. He can read between your lines! ;)

I like Hawk, but think Williams is the better choice. Getting a dominant end is one of the tougher acquisitions in the NFL.

Sorry brutha I am not sure how I stated that, with that particular quote. To much multitasking as I thought I was quotng you from another post.

Well I like AJ Hawk but if we are going to stay at 1 (which we definitely are) you've gotta go with Williams even though I personally prefer hawk but he's no #1 overall.

Not to mention he plays outside linebacker not MLB so he's not our ray lewis. That would be Dqwell Jackson out of Maryland who i'd like to see us take with our 2nd round pick. :spy:

Hawk is not the overall #1 pick. Definitely Top 5 or 6.

When was the last time a LB went #1 over all? Ever?

4 LB's have gone #1 overall since 1936.

The last was Aundray Bruce in 88 out of Auburn to Atlanta. Played 11 years....0 pro bowls.

All that said I still like Hawk....but not for a #1 overall.

I definitely agree, and I'm not sure if Hawk would be as effective at MLB as at OLB, I think he's a little better out on the edges in space where he can use his athleticism rather than trying to cram the middle, he was the slowest of Ohio State's 3 LBs at recognizing the play and what was going on. He had the athletic ability to make up for his slower start, but I'd prefer my MLB to be sharper and see things first, not see things last and rely on your athleticism (which won't be all that special in the NFL) to catch up. I agree, the pick is 100% a decision between Reggie Bush and Mario Williams at #1, no trade downs, no other players are being considered. They have to figure out which player best benefits their team, and as McNair said on Cold Pizza earlier they also have to somewhat factor in what their best option with their 2nd pick is (i.e. if Bush and Mario are dead even but they can get a better offensive player than defensive player with their 2nd pick then #1 will be Mario, then take the offensive guy with their 2nd pick).
