Tonite @ 9:00 on FSN. Wonder if they will give any hints????????:spy:

i wonder if this will actually talk about the draft? ESPN's draft special mentioned the draft once or twice while talking about michael vick and ray lewis.

I know CC is on there and I think don't quote me but I thought they said RB as well and some others.

Espn has a draft special tomorrow at 1 & Reggie Bush is going to be on the show.

Does anyone have this rick guys mock draft, I don't think theirs any way he got 88 out of the 100 picks right.

I'm getting the cowboys draft preview here in san marcos.

It's the same draft special for everyone. They're starting off with the Cowboys, then discussing the Texans and Saints.

Jerry Jones: "I don't think we have the ammo to trade up to #1 to get Vince Young."

I'll take those little consolations where I can get them.

They are doing the Texans now....

Charlie Casserly is on...

FSN - Your team changed, did it change the way you've done business.
CC - Business side, no changes. The types of players wanted have changed. Rating systems, etc...

FSN - What is it going to take to make Carr better.
CC - More talent around him, better protection. We've improved our team this offseason, and will next week in the draft. The new scheme Carr will have to learn will help.

FSN - Offseason signed 8 players.
CC - Don't want to force picks because of need. Eased some of the needs, but still have needs left. We are going to fill some of them.

FSN - Because of the weak WR draft class, is that why you agressively went after Moulds?
CC - Yes, the draft was weak. Some of the prices by some players were to high but we found a good deal with Eric for a 5th rounder.

FSN - Putzier and Moulds going to help?
CC - Yes, he mentioned our current players. Quality WR opposite AJ. Downfield TE in Putzier. Still have draft to go. We have improved our weapons.

Commerical Break.

He actually said "I don't think we have to ammo to get there" , not "up to #1" but you were close.

Thanks for the info.

Casserly is totally trying to get the Bush camp motivated to sign by asserting that they aren't getting trade offers.

Casserly said they haven't had any trade offers, and can't predict the future. Said he thought there would have been more nibbling by this point if they were going to get an offer.

Harrisment said:

Well, I did add portions of the question into his "quote", because otherwise it wouldn't have made sense. I remember the interviewer asking if he would trade up to #1 to get Vince.

NFL Draft after Commercial Break.

Charlie Casserly is still there.

FSN - Welcome back. Charlie is joining us. Tremendous amount of pressure to take VY. Does that come into effect.
CC - There has been a lot of VY interest here in Houston, goes into VY background. Excitement is understood. You can't do a poll to pick your player. Must take a player to help your team the most.

FSN - Any trade offers?
CC - Not yet. I was expecting more nibbling now. I don't know if we're going to. Say N.O. wanted to take Matt Leinart, then things could heat up.

FSN - What makes top 3 players special - Bush
CC - Reggie Bush - Instant Explosion, big play ability. Mario willaims - Big time pass rusher, can get off ball quickly, hasn't reached growth potential. D'brick - outstanding LT prospect, long arms, good explosion, hard to find left tackles. All 3 players are outstanding players.

FSN - You have 5 picks in first 98? what do you expect?
CC - 1st player will be an impact player. 2nd round is scary. Sometimes you get guys with 1st round ability. Worried about what will be there. Feels good with what will be there in the 3rd round. Probably will trade one to pick up an extra in the 4th. 4th round pick is a trade pick.

And that is all she wrote.

Lots of Vince talk, but I'm not really surprised. This is regional coverage after all, and frankly, even national coverage has turned fairly Vince-heavy in the past week or so.

Did you hear Charlie mention the first pick in the 4th round?

Possibility of using that pick to trade up to the first round. Maybe 4th and 33rd pick to get around 15. I think they are targeting someone in this range.

Any ideas? Winston Justice?

I doubt the 4th pick and the 33rd will get us up to 15. Probably somewhere between 25-32

Nice recap, dude.

The 4th rounder can be used to move up into the 1st from #33, or used to trade back and pick up the missing 5th round pick.

We are going to trade the first pick on the second day to move up 3 or 4 spots? Maybe, but I think you would be surprised, high trade value is almost exclusively in the top 5 (this year may 8-10 considering the depth available).

Draft Value Chart

33rd Pick - 580
97th Pick - 112
Total - 692.

26th Pick - 700
27th Pick - 680

15th Pick - 1050

We would have to throw in our 3rd round pick(either one) valued at 265 and 260, and we still wouldn't reach the 1050 plateau for the 15th pick.

The top pick in the 4th round will have the most value after all GM's go home when the 1st day of the draft is over and start getting excited about a particular player. Our 4th won't be dealt until the second day.

Most likely it would include trading our 4th and switching 3rd rounders. Lots of people love to have the first pick of the second day of the draft.

Yeah, making sense with something of substance sure is.

Last year the Texans moved down two spots and picked up a 3rd rounder. There's no way we move up 17 spots for our 2nd rounder and a 4th.

The 1st pick in the 4th in this draft is a real valulable pick. Someone will fall out of the 1st day that no one ever expected to and will be a real talent/value. Might be a good fit for us, or someone might get excited and offer a good deal to get him. Not a pick to discard lightly IMO.

Well Cass said there have been no trade offers up to now. I suppose that means none worth while. He also said in RD 1 you look for an impact player, Rd 2 he said is scary because your not sure what is there. Made a reference to trading one of our 3 rd picks and that the 4th rd pick is a trade pick to maybe move up.Also said when asked about VY and the people in Houston excited about the thought of him playing here said, that he is a great player and playmaker, but you don't make your picks on a popularity vote by fans.

Now it could get interesting say we move up to #53 from Wash. for our #66 and #97we could pick between OL- Taitusi Lutui OG USC,Colledge OT Boise ST., TE Mercedes Lewis UCLA,or on defense @ DE Daryll Tapp Virg. Tech, Tamba Hall Penn St.,or @ LB Gerris Wilkerson Geor. Tech, Rocky McIntosh Mia.,Thomas Howard UTEP, or @ CB Devin Hester Mia. or Cedric Griffen UT. Man that move up would be nice. But what would you do if we had this dilema?
My picks would go:
#1 Bush RB USC
#33 Winston OT Mia.
#53 Wilkerson LB Geo.Tech
#65 Watkins S FSU
#173 BPA
#240 BPA
Just my assesment, how about yours. Keep it or Trade IT?

This is more on the possibility of the trading of the 4th rd pick. If it needs to go under the other then will the Mods please move this.

I like the 4th round pick we have. I'd rather not use that pick to move up if it's possible.

Just for the heck of it, I looked up some of the past first picks of the 4th round.

'05 Sean Considine Eagles SS Iowa
'04 Reggie Torbor Giants OLB Auburn
'03 Dennis Weathersby Bengals CB Oregon State
'02 Jonathan Wells Texans RB Ohio State
'01 Kenyatta Jones Patriots T South Florida
'00 Lewis Sanders Browns CB Maryland
'99 Paul Miranda Colts CB Central Florida
'98 Steve McKinney Colts G Texas A&M
'97 Damon Denson Patriots G Michigan
'96 Jason Odom Buccaneers T Florida
'95 Rob Johnson Jaguars QB USC

Interestingly, three were on the Texans roster last season. If this is he typical player taken at this point in the draft, I'd trade back for a 2 for 1 deal. If possible.

Thanks for looking that up. I've swayed a bit on trading the pick now after that bit of info. I do like our history of 4th round picks though...

I would guess a move into the mid 20's to insure Eric Winston. #33 and #98 (#97 is a comp pick to the NY Jets) should be enough to move up as far as 24. If we think he may slip further it might be our 2 3rds and the 4th. If you could get a taker they have enough value to reach #29. The Jets hold that pick and may be looking for a bunch of picks.

Or mayby

Texans
3000 #1
580 #33
260 #66

3840

Jets
1800 #4
850 1st next year
640 #29
550 #35

3840

But I'm probably over thinking this. Too much time till the 29th. :tv:

I would jump on that in a heartbeat. WOW! Thanks for the value of the next year 1st, I was curious what it would be.

It's just an estimate unfortunately. Some teams devalue next years picks by a half a round, some by a full round. It worked out best in my math as a half round.

This is exactly what I thought when I heard "trade fourth rounder." More mocks are showing Winston gone by the second round. I could see them trying to trade up to take Eric.
