Who would you choose between D'Brick and A.J. Hawk ?

If the Texans trade their first pick, the most realistic trading partner IMO
would be the Jets at #4. And that trade is a long shot, because I think we
would demand both of their first round picks and their 2nd rounder and very
unlikely they would give those up for Reggie, whom they have some interest in
taking. But who knows how much ? NOLA has no incentive to trade with us since they have a stud RB already with a new contract and the Titans want a
QB, and can get one at #3.
If we trade with the Jets, DE liams is gone by then but good chance Ferguson is on the Board and almost for sure Hawk is available. Even though left OTs are rated higher than LBs, Hawk is just the kind of leader and great defender our D needs and LB is for sure a big need position for us. Plus Hawk is so athletic with good size, he can probably play about any 4-3 or 3-4 defense. And he's an every down LB.
As far as Ferguson goes, I'm now of the opinion that SC tackle Winston Justice is on par with him. With the additional picks we'd get with the Jets,
we could maybe trade for him if he's on the Board in the 12-15 range.
Would AJ Hawk and Winston Justice be as valuable to us as Reggie ?

Interesting.

I'd love to have A.J Hawk on this team, but I don't see the scenario that makes that possible happening.

I don't think Justice would have great impact this year, although he could replace Weigert at right tackle if he got hurt and probably be full time there next year.

I think the change in coaching in itself will improve the OL.

That and putting the best players on the roster on the field.

Brick in a heartbeat, better question would be Hawk or Vernon Davis.

And i agree with Kasto, im not sold on hawk as being the best OLB in the draft. I think Ernie Sims is just as good.

indeed. and a big sleeper is miami of ohio's terna nande. he's a 4.4 guy who benches 500+ and squats 600+. freakish athletic ability, but he's undersized and not that great in coverage, but he'd be nice to get in the 3rd-4th round for sure.

Both great players and we could use both of them. However, O-Line has been our weakness for 4 years. If we decide to trade down, we should go for the LT.

that's one huge if on the part of a trade down...but stranger things have happened...the only team i can think of that would be able to do something like this is green bay...they're the only ones with the cap space left to trade enough picks away and still be able to sign the last remaining veteran FA's out there to still compete...so in doing that we'd be picking 5th overall leaving us with AJ Hawk...a true dominant MLB for years to come...not too bad

Agreed, between just the Hawk and Ferguson I'd probably perfer Hawk, either way I don't see this move happening unless we're guaranteed to get Mario there.

Agreed, Nande would be a decent option in the 4th, I don't know if I like his talent enough to take him with one of our 3rds.

D'Brick easily. There's a reason why LBs don't get drafted that high, yet are always the Defensive MVPs and Rookies of the year.... They're the onles that put up the stats, not the guys on the Dline...... But I guess by going with that philosophy, we should take D'Brick over Bush. Doh! :brickwall

D'Brick, hands down.

We could take Thomas Howard (OLB) with our 2nd round pick & if we received a 2nd round pick in the trade down, we could take Richard Marshall (CB).

I'd be bouncing off the walls if we were to get D'Brick, Howard, & Marshall with our first 3 picks. That'd still leave us with two 3rd's to pick up some more promising young talent (OL, LB,WR), or trade for a higher pick next year.

In any trade down, I'd be looking for a #1 pick next year, in addition to whatever pick(s) we get this year. We have to position ourselves for a run at Adrian Peterson, if he comes out next year.

By the way, Winston Justice is a RT. Did you mean to say Eric Winston?

D brick, no doubt. Then we can see if Carr is going to pan out. That way we know what to use that extra 1st rounder we picked up for the next year (hopefully).
