Williams didn't even have the biggest impact on his team. It was Manny Lawson as someone that made it a point to watch the N.C state games this year I was amazed by both of the skills but I felt Williams didn't always give 100% unlike Lawson who was all over the place sacking QBs and chase RBs down from the back.
haha, you must not have watched many games if you think Lawson had a bigger impact than Mario, either that or you just don't understand how defense works in football. Mario put up better stats than Lawson plus he definitely impacted opposing offenses' game plans much more.

The same way that ppl said the main drawing point for RB was his versatility, so does Williams have versatility. We've seen how effective Troy Polamalou has been with his moving all over the field. How much more dangerous would a player be that you can see him at end on one play and then shifted back to linebacker on the next. Like they always say he doesn't have to line up there much, but other teams will have to take that into account and plan for it. Smith our DC said we would see some fronts of 3-4 so imagine this if you will.
A team that prepares for our 4-3 look with Mario as an end will be knocked off their gameplan if Smith is shifted to the end position and Williams moves back into the linebacker position. With 4.66 speed he is near OLB speed and well into MLB speed. With his huge wingspan the guy is not a DE he is a Defensive Weapon and the target is whatever team he faces. As with Bush, Williams talents can be utilized to create many defensive mismatches.
Mario definitely does present many different looks for opposing offenses. We could run so many different sets that he'd be very effective in, imagine having these packages that could all be very effective and keep opposing offenses guessing:
Normal 4-3:
M.Greenwood------------K.Wong/S.Cowart-------------S.Orr
-------M.Williams------R.Smith-------S.Payne-----A.Weaver
Speed 4-3 (passing situations):
M.Greenwood-----------K.Wong/S.Cowart---------------S.Orr
---------A.Peek------A.Weaver-----R.Smith-----M.Williams
3-4:
A.Peek---------K.Wong--------S.Cowart--------M.Greenwood/S.Orr
-----M.Williams-------S.Payne--------A.Weaver
