Justice On PTI about Bush Etc...

He talked about offensive offseason pickups. The texans don't know if David Carr is good or not. Texans would be ludicrous if they don't take Bush.

Regarding Mario Williams - Bush isn't going to give a hometown discount. VY makes sense for the Texans but the Texans have ruled him out. David Carr needs a chance to succeed. Carr moved into offices, worked harder than ever before.

Young thinks that people set him up to fail. Not the right guy for you if you don't like his fundamentals. The usual positive VY intangibles... Does he need any extra motivation. Justice doesn't think that he does. Where will VY go - Tennessee.

That's a weird statement, IMO. Dude is still the reigning college champion QB, so failure hasn't been an issue. Why would he think that?

Justice was referring to a quote from the USA Today cover story that Kornheiser asked him about, "It's like people want to see you fail for some reason. I don't know why. But it's my calling, my blessing. So I'm not going to fail. I've got the Man upstairs as my protector, and I'm going to continue using all the crap as motivation. ... So you might as well hop on the bandwagon and give me my respect."

Kornheiser wanted to know if there was this element that wanted to see him fail. Korheiser also wanted to know if Young would be a guy like Jordan who would manufacture motivation.

Justice made a similar comment to the one he made on 610 earlier this week - if the Texans don't want to pay top pick money, they need to win more games. So true, lol.

The lead question was about whether Mario Williams is that good that the Texans are seriously thinking about drafting him #1.

Some Justice quotes from the PTI interview:

"This whole offseason has been about [the Texans] giving David Carr a chance to succeed. That's why they're not taking Vince Young."

"This whole thing is about David Carr, and to take anyone other than Reggie Bush, who is the one guy at the top of the draft board who makes the quarterback better, would just be ludicrous."

"They invited Mario Williams to Houston right after Reggie Bush and his agent left town. So I don't know what Reggie Bush and his agent told him, but it apparently wasn't 'hometown discount'".

"Vince Young makes sense for [the Texans] on so many levels. I've advocated so much for him - I'm blue in the face on that. Yes, they've ruled him out."

"If you're going to get all upset about every bad throw, about where he puts his arms, where he puts his feet, then [Young]'s probably not the right guy for you. If you're into winning, if you want a guy who has special leadership skills - I've never been around anybody like this guy before."

"Coaches who around [Young] and talk to his coaches, they start to get it with him."

"[Young]'s held in an esteem that players aren't usually held in."

"A team that needs a quarterback will take [Young]."

Well at least in this case.....David Carr will be in the same JOEY HARRINGTON boat. All-world talent around him. Bush, Davis, Johnson, Moulds, that TE guy.

A decent blocking scheme and some good fa pickups on the line. If he doesn't do it this year.....then what do we do?

harrington never had great talent around him.

charles rogers, mike williams, roy williams, tai streets, marcus pollard, kevin jones???

not great talent?

A lot better than a double covered AJ and a DD who only dresses out 5 games a season.

The only guy on that list that's questionable is Rogers. Jones can be a top running back if he stays healthy; I don't think a player can gain 1000 yards as a rookie and not be "good".

kevin jones had a good rookie season, absent his second season. mike williams was decent at best as a rookie. marcus pollard? good lord he sucked last year. tai streets?? charles rogers is a bust and will be out of the league in a year or two. again, aside from roy williams, none of them have consistently been "good."

talent doesn't really mean anything when you play poorly. harrington has talent too, which is why he was the 3rd pick of the draft.

Well, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Carr has had skill position players around him that I would term "good", with AJ (all-pro receiver, leading in YAC), Davis (a steady 1000yd back), and Gaffney (a good #2) and his numbers are similar to Harrington's. Of course, Carr's O-line has allowed the most sacks (statistically), so I suppose that negates his talent advantage. But next year, if he can not get the job done with the infusion of talent, at the skill and line positions, then many more fans will likely give up on him...

i wasn't relating the harrington situation to carr at all, i'm just simply stating that harrington hasn't had the talent around him to succeed. or at least, not in the time he was given. lots of young players, or guys that just didn't fit. not to mention the horrible line he's had for several years.

You had me until the words "Gaffney" & "Good" were in the same sentence. . .

It is obscene how Justice will not let this cat go. VY has gone way beyond fandom in Justice's mind and is now a deeply ingrained psychological fetish. Sickening.
