From Buffalo ~ You will love Moulds ~ Many of us still do~!

John from Hemet

Practice Squad
There is no doubt that you got the better end of this trade...as I said earlier on he is walking onto your team and immediately your best reciever.

I dont like that we only got a 5th....but we are in rebiulding mode and need all the picks we can get. It also opens up a ton of salary cap room for us this year and next.

Good luck Eric.

The Texans have been my second favorite team for a while now....gives me more excuse to root for them.

That is except for the game we play this year...

Thanks as I think this move will help both teams move on. Eric made it known that he did not want to play in Buffalo and the Bills at least got something out of the deal, even though I can easily see why you would be upset with the deal. Have fun with all of your cap room and good luck to you guys, except against us lol :)

Im not sure how Moulds will rank on the Texans as a WR, but he could easily be our most productive this year. If both Johnson and Moulds play the very best they are able to, I think Johnson will be our #1 guy just because he is entering his prime and is a threat to break tackles and spring down the field at any time. He had a terrible year last year, though,a nd so Moulds go easily come in and steal the show. Either way, we have 2 #1 options which is always great!!

I'd have to disagree with where you said he is our best receiver. You forget we have Andre Johnson.

Since Andre's been here I think it's his job to lose. Eric will have to fight for it, but I think there will be good competition for it. Andre and Eric are both in it and whoever wins the starting job it doesn't really matter because they will both be on the field most of the time.

Greetings Texans ~

Just had to sign up for your board and follow Eric Moulds to his new home. As one long-time Bills Fan, I am here to tell you that Eric will not dissappoint you and you will love him. He may getting be up there in years, but he still has a LOT left in the tank and he will compliment AJ unbelievable well. Many of us up here in WNY will miss him and really hoped we wouldn't lose him.

I guarantee you, that he will arrive pumped and ready go!! After serving his one-game suspension last season (which many of us feel was bogus), Eric came back like the Pro that he is and really showed "Coach" Mularkey what he could do on the field. I am willing to bet Moulds will have one WHALE of a day on Nov 19th, when the Bills travel to your stadium. That should be an exciting game on both ends, as I suspect our new #1(?) receiver, Lee Evans, will want to prove that he is worthy of replacing Moulds. Get your tickets for that match-up, for sure~!

I hope you will embrace him as much as he will embrace the fresh start he now has in Houston. I'll be watching.....and may now even root for the Texans a little bit more (except for the 19th of Nov, of course ;-))

welcome to the board and for your comments. Most of us here are excited about the Emo signing and are dying for the season to start already. We appreciate your following and your insight on Emo. Hope to see you around here more often.

It would be really scary if Andre Johnson is the second wide reciever. He was pulling double teams all year last year. I will gladly take him 1 on 1 vs. a number 2 corner.

The name Emo has been used like 5000 times in these forums now. And yea I think this is the year we beat the bills

We are very excited about him coming to Houston.

Hey, who is gonna be your starting QB next year? Are they gonna give Losman a real chance?

I was on the Eric Moulds website and it said his nickname was E-Mo in the Eric Moulds trivia part. :tv:

Thanks for the post Bob and I also want to thank all of you Bills fans for your comments on him as you have seen him play more than all of us :thumbup Thanks for the insight and good luck and we wish the same to you :)

Excuse my ignorance Bob, but what was Moulds suspended 1 game for?

From my perspective, because our former "Coach" Mularkey was full of his own last name! Officially, it was due to actions "detrimental to the team" ..... what it was all about was the QB situation up here (Lossman vs. Holcomb) and Eric finally let his frustrations known on the sideline. It was a mess up here (and still kinda is) with the QB situation and last year's inept "coaching". Some tried to compare the Emo suspension with TO, but many of us didn't blame Emo at all. After all, Emo has been playing on a team with rotating sub-par QBs for a decade and .... quite frankly, he finally let loose those frustrations, especially when the coaches benched him, during our arch-rival Miami game no less, and cost him his consecutive "games-with-a-catch" streak. Have no fear, your QB situation seems stable from up here ... Eric will be the consumate team-player with the new combination of Carr and AJ and crew around him, I'm sure!

I believe they will. With Marv Levy back in charge, he has recently put that trade block rumors surrounding JP to rest and stated that they like a lot of what they see in JP ... so it is open competition between him, Holcomb, and the newcomer (Nall). New Coach Jouran sounds like he's setting up for an all out open competition for nearly every position. It will be fun and interesting to see who is standing tall and in the leadership positions when the dust settles. More than likely, things will be a mess for awhile, at least -- LOL. I do also have this feeling that if JP is going to survive in Buffalo, this will need to be his put up or shut up year ... just a nagging gut-feel I have.

Thanks for the good words BuffBob. I dont think I've been more excited about any player that my team has aquired in it's short history than I am about Moulds. I really respect teams with knowlegeable and polite fans. It's just a shame that I have a deepseeded hatred for the Bills... which I'm sure you can understand.

Moulds was suspended for what Mularkey called conduct detrimental to the team. He basically flipped out because we were up by 3 touchdowns and Mularkey was calling all kinds of "crazy stuff" as Moulds called it... when we should have been pounding the football and running out the clock. Turns out he was right. Moulds was suspended for one game the following week against the Patriots.... obviously our offense stunk without him. The final 3 weeks Moulds racked up 27 receptions for over 300 yards.

Moulds is a great athlete and competitor. Most of his frustration last season was having to deal with his 4th inept head coach 5th or 6th QB change and i don't know how many different coordinators. Think how productive moulds would have been if he had some consistency with the offense. I could easily see Moulds having a pro bowl season for you guys.... you may have just picked up a huge sleeper. I think you got one heck of deal.... a 5th round draft pick for ERIC MOULDS??? you gotta be kidding me...

.... if you fix your oline.

So who did Eric have beef with? I thought it was with the coaching staff?
It was.... Most of the players hated our coaching staff.... i'm said to see Eric leave..... i guess the Texans are my 2nd favorite team now.

Thanks for the first hand information guys, and I'm sure Moulds will quickly become a fan favorite here in Houston. We like veteran players who not only produce, but work hard, and lead by example. Everything I've heard about Moulds suggest that he'll do all of that and more.

I love this pickup. All we needed was a 5th to get him. I think the Texans just got a 500% return on investment from that pick. Just because other teams will not trade a high pick does not mean he is not worth it. His effest on the offense should be very productive. Now we just have to get the LT that can pass block the sped rushers in the AFC south. Wouldn't it be scary if TN picked up Mario Williams?

I know you are :( ,but Eric will be playing in offense that should utilize his talents. He also has had a chance to sit on the sideline and see the guts that Carr has in person. I just hope that Carr has more than the usual 2 seconds to throw.

How well can E-Mo read defenses and get to the hole in zone coverage? I am not sure if the other WR's on the team know how to find the holes in the defense. Is he a solid downfield blocker? I know he is a large WR so I would like to assume he can. The really big question. Does he drop many balls? As a Texans fan, I have had to endure many key drops. Does he fight for the ball well? With all those yards he has, I would have to say the guy is doing something right. I just can't believe we got a player like him for so little.

For what its worth to a Bills fan, E-Mo has really brought some much-needed life to the fanbase. Good luck to the Bills this year.

We made him look like Jim Kelly the day we played Buffalo. Unfortunately for the Bills, they can't play the Texans every week.

Thank you ALL for the warm and respectful welcome! I have spent some time in Texas through the years and always found similar hospitality while visiting around the Lone Star state..... very glad to see nothing has changed in that regard.

Good deal, it is good to get this kind of endorsement from the guy's former following. Thanks for the words Buff

Yes, I can understand that....... I, like most of WNY, have similar feelings toward a team from Southern Florida! Kinda makes me wonder if the Moulds connection might be a nice catalyst to forming a true inter-conference rivalry (friendly & respectful, of course) between Houston & Buffalo, once again. I can remember the other team in Houston a few years back and how a subtle little rivalry developed between the Oilers & Bills. I'm sure the "old-schoolers" from both cities have certain memories of a certain playoff game which included an historic comeback, right? Ahhhhhh... Houston & Buffalo -- could be fun, once again, eh?

Emo can, did, and will, do all those things you ask about, except drop many balls. He is fearless over the middle, finds and/or creates holes well (and will go get it when there ain't a lot of room, too) , not afraid to block for others, and he doesn't drop many when he gets his hands on the ball. And, I believe, he will turn his game up a notch higher with this new start. Let him know that you're glad he's here on opening day and he will do all he can to light it up for you!

I think most of us are very excited to have Emo, I know I am. :redtowel: I am glad to see so many Bills fans with a high opinion of him.

I have a good friend from Buffalo, I have been there many times to visit him, it is a very cool town. I always enjoyed my time there, and Chipawa St. is a blast, it is a kind of like 6th street here in Austin.

No prob...I was a closet Kelly fan since he left the Gamblers. The Bills also gave me a reason to roote against the turds. too bad for the nut ups. :goodbad:

Thanks with all the great input. I have to say I wasn't sure why everyone was so happy over this deal. We were giving him more money than any other team would offer him, and we gave up a 5th rounder as well. Plus, I believe we were running pretty deep at WR as well.

But given how much he's meant to Buffalo, I think you've pretty much sold me on Moulds.
