Sounds like a hog wash, the media will write anything to cause a dramma. The guy was probably just out of shape.

Why the hell would he want his draft stock to slip so he can get picked later, and be paid less. If anything, he would bust his ***, make the team reach to get him, and then take 'em to the cleaners before he ever even stepped on an NFL field.
Even if they did tell him not to run, I'm sure they didn't say, 'become a sloppy cow, who will barely be in football shape by the time camp starts,' I'm positive they didn't send out that back channel message

You can only assume that teams in the higher rounds will keep on winning, seeing as that's how they got that draft pick in the first place. With all the parity in the league, a team drafting in the mid 20s could probably fall within the top 10 just in one year.

Winning's not guaranteed in this league. In 2003, the Raiders used the 31st pick on Nnamdi Asomugha after losing the Super Bowl to Tampa Bay. Asomugha probably thought he was going into a sweet deal. Oakland's gone 13-35 since then.Please_Evolve said:

This kind of stuff happens all the time -- spreading false info about how someone looked, acted, etc [Lendale Whale needed a bra his boobs were so big] so they will slip down in the draft.

Hey, it happens. I remember when I was trying out for my city Colt league, several of my friends on the "better" team in the league, who I also played HS ball with, told me to just slouch it out there. They had the last pick and wanted to get me on the team.
So what did I do?? LMAO! What do you think?
I hit 3 of the 5 "BP" balls over the fence......the other two were linedrives up the middle making the poor sap throwing BP have to put a helmet on. Then during the "OF" drills, I robbed one "would have been" HR, then hit my target on the 2B & 3B "cut-off" drills, then proceeded to "slouch" it by throwing 4 of the 5 balls from CF to Homeplate on a rope.
My buddies were mad, but there was no way I was "going out" like that.
Then again, I wasn't about to sign a multi-million dollar deal with possibly a "winning" team. It was more about self-pride than making the "better, winning" team.
Of course, I was picked #1, and my team (worst in the league the prior year) went on to the championship game, vs. my buddies more powerful team. We won the C-Ship!

I agree, I think this is just some made up story. I'm pretty sure any such team could get into trouble for tampering with a player if they did this. I could maybe see a team trying to do this, but if they did I'm quite sure they would not let any word of that slip out to the public.

You know, I did think about it, and then I got pissed at myself for allowing all this media coverage on steroids to make me question every amazing performance I've seen. There is such a thing as integrity for most guys, and strong work ethic. That said, he's definetely on some weight gainer. The guy has had nearly 3 months to prepare for those drills and to lift 225. I would really like to know what he was hitting at when he first started to bulk up so I could know his actual improvement.
