In this thread I'm just showing how I see the status of NFL teams through 3 divisions. The 1st being the elites, 2nd being those who are either becoming elites or are running on the last of their gas from when they were elites, and the 3rd being those who have just hit rock bottom or are about to leave rock bottom. The 2nd World Teams is divided into 2 subdivisions since 2nd would be the transition section of the NFL and therefore would include teams going just into it or teams going down to it. The division the team is based on their 05 season and the symbol I give it is based on my opinion of where they'll be for 06.

1st World Teams
-Pittsburgh Steelers = - They have lost some people through FA but I don't see any of them as being key towards their SB title this year, thats why they'll remain strong in defending their title this year.
-Indianapolis Colts = - The Colts will remain elite, but they will also start their own decline because 05 was their year and they wasted it. They're gonna miss Edge and even Adam Vinateri won't keep from being the "chokes", sorry Peyton but you are Marino part 2.
-Denver Broncos = - For how long have these guys been serious contenders every year? It won't end this year and in fact they might even get better with 2 1st round picks.
-Carolina Panthers = - You could agrue that they're U2 not 1st, but in the last 3 years they've been a real competitive team and would have made the playoffs in the last 3 years if not for the huge injury filled start of 04. They've added KJ to distract teams from Smith and it'll help, they'll remain true contenders for 06.
-New England Patriots V - If they hadn't played their regular FA game of waiting and had realized that this year teams had lots and LOTS of money then we wouldn't be witnessing the inevitble end of their dynasty but they did and now there's no denying, the team of the 00s is dead.
-Seattle Seahawks V - As what happens to all SB losers, it will inevitably happen to the hawks as well, and no matter how many Shaun Alexanders they could have, they WILL have an off year.
2nd World Teams
U2
-Kansas City Chiefs ^ - LJ is gonna prove his an AllPro RB for sure, and they will be a 1st world team, but I got a gut feeling that Herm Edwards might ruin KCs situation and not be able to take them all the way.
-San Diego Chargers ^ - They would seriously for sure be super bowl contenders had they kept Brees, but Rivers has had 2 yrs to learn and he has the best TE and RB in the league and a pretty good D as well and don't forget that he'll most likely get a quick speedy receiver in the draft, and those WRs were the best last yr. From what we've learned from Big Ben is that babying a QB with talent will make them good from the start so hmmm? who knows?
-Tampa Bay Buccaneers ^ - If you check their stats, their undefeated when Caddy runs for 100+ plus and usually lose when the OLine breaks down. If they draft McNeil as expected by the world they'll be more consistent on offense and with the experience that this barely 1 yr old offense now has they will become better and stay U2 or maybe even ELITE as they where in the late 90s.
-Miami Dolphins ^ - Nick Saban has done what I hope Gary can do with the Texans, and now that he'll have his QB and 3-4 in they won't be 2nd world after 06.
-New York Giants ^ - I'm basing this on them getting some better people for the D through the draft, if they don't they'll stay where they are.
-Philadelphia Eagles ^ - TO distracted, but wasn't the reason for why they sucked. If they remain healthy and get some DTs this offseason they'll be back to their old status.
-Dallas Cowboys = - They'll have at most 2 years of being elite. TO and Bledsoe are all on timers and that is what will measure how long the boys are good for and how good they are. They could be real good but in the NFC East being this tough again I can see them missing the playoffs.
-Cincinnati Bengals = - These guys have shown they're good, but they haven't shown they can beat other good teams and with Palmer maybe missing some of the season I think they'll only go to the wildcard round, maybe divisional, but if it is wildcard its not 1st, and its not moving up.
-Jacksonville Jaguars = - They only got to the wildcard last year and have lost a bigger player then any of the ones they've added. So although they will be a team to compete with, they won't be a serious contender and don't even be surprised if they don't make the playoffs.
-Washington Redskins = - Although they made divisional last year, if has only been the 1st time in a long time so I can't think of them as elite. They haven't really lost any key people other than Arrington and they only added the same player twice in Randle el and Lloyd. I think this could be the breakdown team of 06 and I think Jason Campbell could debut.
-Chicago Bears = - They just extended their QB soap opera by adding Griese and the success of Jones last year gave them an RB soap opera as well. With those 2 things and a D that was amazing and didn't even finish as the top D in the league plus a harder division this year, the Beats will stay a 2nd world team.
D2
-Atlanta Falcons ^ - They're D2 because they failed to be 9-7 but with the additions they've made I see them reaching the wildcard round in an NFC bracket filled with 3 teams from the NFCSouth.
-Arizona Cardinals ^ - They have an RB but the OLine is still crap. Edge will turn them into U2 but unless the truely fix the OL they won't move up past U2 and could easily miss the playoffs
-Baltimore Ravens ^ - Boller showed signs of life towards the end of the year, but it was because he was motivated by a "life or death" situation, so will he be able to do it again? Can this old D still win them games? And is Lewis gonna play his moneys worth or what? The Ravens or hard to figure out but I don't think they'll move out of 2nd but will move up in it.
-St.Louis Rams = The O won't change much and I don't think they're D will become too good in one year thats why they'll remain the NFLs bipolar team and D2.
-Minnesota Vikings = - What they've been doing through FA the last 2 seasons is good but having Brad Johnson as their starter could cost them since I doubt they rechecked which teams it was that he beat (as I remember most were under .500). I see them staying right where they until they get another QB.
-Buffalo Bills = - With a new coach, a still rather rookieish QB and a team with some of its key players leaving I just can't see it improving to much.
-Green Bay Packers (V=^) - The Packers haven't figured out if they're trying to remain a good team that trying to get another SB or if they're a rebuilding team trying to get a SB but even if Farve comes back, the direction they'll head towards is completely unclear. If he comes back he might make them good again or destiny might show them that they definantly need to rebuild, if he reties the youth could refresh the team and keep them a 2nd or move them down to 3rd for a year before Aaron gets some experience
3rd World Teams
-Cleveland Browns ^ - Perhaps the new Pats? If these guys can stay healthy on offense they'll definantly be out of the 3rd, but if Charlie Frye can prove he truely without a doubt deserves to be starting in the NFL, then the sky is the limit for how high they'll go.
-Houston Texans ^ - The biggest reason for the crap that was 05 was coaching, but when you add a coach who I and many see that "it" factor in, a coach again whos expert in Olines, stop trying a D that for sure doesn't with this team, and add in a little bit of magic dust (Reggie), then you'll get a team that is ready for 2nd and ready for more..
-Tennessee Titans ^ - A great job in FA, a win-win situation, and still having a great coach will finally bring the Titans back to their old ways and put an end to their 2-3 yrs of rebuilding. Crap!
-New Orleans Saints ^ If the O and D become consistent now that a proven QB has been added then they'll move into 2 and make the NFC South the toughest division in the NFL.
-Detroit Lions ^ - If Marinelli can motivate his offense to play to its potential they'll be D2, if he can get a better and consistent D he'll be U2.
-San Francisco ^ - Under its 1 yr coach they whole team has mor eexperience and will probably get better but if they get Vernon Davis they'll for sure be in the 2nd.
-New York Jets = - The Jets should be rebuilding right now but since they haven't truely decided to do it by not getting a real replacement for Chad, then they have'll have to experience those rebuilding years for a little bit longer.
-Oakland Raiders = - For the last 3 years this franchise been a mess. Lots of young dudes and lots of old dudes and no real order, lots of great talent and oppurtunities but still so much disorder! They are the middle east of the NFL and unless they get a real QB, not a rookie or a vet on the way down, they won't be moving out of the 3rd this year.
