absolutely not. we have plenty of young talent to last for the next couple years. If we get Moulds, we may not have to draft another WR until about 2011 draft, or maybe longer. By the time Moulds starts faidng away, Walter and Mathis will start to shine more

I don't think so. Next years draft is going to be very deep at WR so I don't see why we waste the pick!

who are the WR in next year draft other than D. Jarrett and C. Johnson

I like Mathis and Walter's, but I don't think they're anything more than a career #3 receiver. Moulds would be nice, but I would problably start looking at another #2 receiver in the next two years. I defintely would not wait 5 years from now.

Bush/Davis/Johnson/Moulds sounds so good :yahoo:

Jarrett, Johnson, Smith are the headline guys I can think of right now. All of them would be the #1 reciever taken this year.

no you take a wide out early in this years draft...you look to that position next year when you have guys like:
calvin johnson
steve smith
dwayne jarrett
jarrett hicks
jeff samrjadzai(don't know how to spell that name)
joel filani
ted ginn jr
etc

I don't think we take one this year unless one falls, which I doubt because a lot of teams are looking for WR in the draft.

I think we take one in the first two rounds next year, or maybe in two years, so he will have time to sit on the bench and develop behind Moulds before he retires.

The draft is simplified now for the Texans. They can draft solely for the O-line and secondary with their 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Yeah we would give up 1 of those picks but we still have picks...plus we technically drafed Kevin Walter with our 7th...so maybe we dont draft a WR this year at all

I don't think you can draft a player at this position if the addition of Moulds remains intact. We don't need a WR project at this moment and if we add Bush in the 1st round, the only additional pick I see us using on the offensive side will be on the O-line.
We still have some holes on Defense that will need to be addressed. We could use an impact FS at 33, or LB. By impact, I mean someone that they would start. After rounds 1,2, and 3 I would draft for depth and would solely focus on the Defensive side (while drafting an O-Line player) of the ball.

After the move on Moulds, there should be no reason for the Texans to look heavily into a WR with our picks. I agree that they will focus on the O-line and then the secondary. Im excited about this, since this should give us a little bit of slack down the field. With Kubiak, Carr may be able to put that arm to good use. I have been tired of seeing Andre getting double covered, since this left us virtually no options, especially under Capers. I see a lot of passing for next year. Finally.

WR next year is going to be loaded, I will have to do the research to gather the names but I can kinda throw a couple of names out who are playmakes, oh if I misspell names it is because my speling sucks, and I dont have time to research the names, sorry:rolleyes: Lets see, Jarret USC, Legget Miami, Rice South Carolina, Sweed Texas, Smadjabcdefghifkl Notre Dame :highfive: great spelling I know, thank you, hmmm I amsure if I did my research I could pull out some more but I do know Each reciever listed is a playmaker, and every one of them except Rice are over 6'5 and run like the wind blows. Rice is like 6'1 I think but he played awsome!

I don't see Moulds being counted on for more than two years, and personally I'd be thrilled if we can get him at the rumored price (4 years, $14 million) and for our 5th round pick and get two solid years out of him. He will be turning 33 during this coming season, meaning in two years he'll be 35 and definitely on the way out in terms of his shelf life. Rookie WRs typically take a year or two to start coming into their own in this league (which would be about when Moulds is fading out if we draft one this year), plus there are a lot of bigger WRs that will be available in the 3rd-5th rounds this year, so I think they will still look for a WR somewhere in this draft (3rd or 4th/5th round depending on what we give up for Moulds). I have posted a list of possible WRs that they could target in this range in a couple other threads and don't really care to post it again here, but if I can find those threads I'll put up a link to here. Either way, they have temporarily addressed several needs so far in this offseason (and added a few longer-term solutions in there), and I think they will still look at WR at some point in this draft, depending on who is available at all of our picks and who we take in the earlier rounds.

Well, it's said that Santonio Holmes could actually slide down and be available to us, and he's the #2 WR in the draft. It's tempting... But i don't think so. We should definitely be looking at an Olineman with our #2 pick. Actually, I don't think we should draft any recievers at all! Especially in the early rounds. They'll end up playing a backup role to somebody on offense, whereas we could get some much needed defensive help that could start for us on day 1. Wouldn't that be nice?

If we came out of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds with an OT, CB, FS, and MLB I would be ecstatic. Those are our need positions and there appears to be a lot of talent available in this draft at those postions. Frankly, I'd like to see us trade next year's #1 to acquire an additional 2nd round pick in the 40 range. Since the trade down from #1 seems unlikely, I'd like us to do something to get into that 2nd round- it looks so strong.
