Casserly to NFL !

he clearly has made mistakes but watch what you wish for .... things could be much worse ....

weren't the Texans 2 -14 last year? I really don't think they could be much worse.

Please give him the job...Get him the hell out of here...Wait then the NFL would fall and crash most likely just like our franchise did and we will have to hire someone smart to re-build it so looks like our only choice is to give him a free 1 way ticket to antartica, take his wallet and cell phone, and leave him there.

If Casserly leaves, I'm hoping Kubiak doesn't become head coach/general manager. They hardly ever work out. Here's

Dream Scenario #1:

Casserly gets the job and best of luck to him.
Mike Holmgren announces this is his final year in Seattle and will not coach any longer. He says that he would like to be a GM though (he has said this, contemplating whether this is his final year though) and he becomes GM for the Texans. We win a Super Bowl(s).

Dream Scenario #2:

Casserly gets the job and best of luck to him.
Howie Long and Terry Bradshaw gang up on Jimmy Johnson and he throws a temper tantrum on air and is fired/quits. He becomes GM of the Texans. We win a Super Bowl(s).

Dream Scenario #3:

Casserly does not take the job. Casserly suddenly becomes a very good GM. We win a Super Bowl(s).

Look at the players we have signed this offseason. IMO this offseason has been better than the last 4 offseasons combined as far as signing free agents. Kubes comes in and tells the front office who he wants and they go out and sign most of them. This tells me that maybe the front office has been doing what the Capers regime wanted in the last 4 seasons as far as trades, releases, and free agents. Maybe I am wrong.

If so, it tells me that Casserly didn't do his job on as a Manager. His role is to be a GM, not just to be a gofer for the coach to execute trades, releases, and free agents. A good GM is a decision role.

We could be the worst team and be totally over the salary cap having to release players.
ok.. we are just the worst team with several overpaid players that are not capable of being starters on other teams; but under the salary cap. And we are going through yet another 'rebuilding' year after a consective losing seasons.

I'm not saying he should be a gopher, but the coaches should have SOME input as far as the players go.

It would seem that he is being given a more dignified way of leaving. No you're fired or we're going in a new direction. Maybe that has happened w/ Reaves being introduced as a "consultant".

This is almost turning out like WWE. Being able to call what is going happen b/c it's scripted. Let's wait and see.

That was my response to it cant get much worse... That would be worse than a 2-14 year, having another dismal record and being so far over the cap, we had to cut some players.

I sure wouldn't want this option. Holmgren has proved that he's not a capable GM. The hawks didn't do ANYTHING until he was replaced as GM. If the Texans are in the market for a GM, I think they can do alot better than Holmgren.

They don't need a big name guy to be GM, they need a good guy. Go get a guy who's associated with the Patriots, Steelers, or another team that knows what they're doing. The best option would be to promote a guy from another team who's hungry for success on their own.

OOOOh, I am all about scene #1.

I'd rather have him doing any other job in the world, than the one he is doing right now.

I don't even care if he becomes the next dictator of North Korea.

As long as he has nothing to do with the Texans.

Well it looks to me like he is outta here. :yahoo:

Now, let the debate begin. Who is our next GM?:stirpot:

john mcclain has a little audio blip about it on the chronicle's website...he mentions several names of canidates and the one that kinda scares me is tom donahue previously of the buffalo bills...while i'm all for a guy who has experience tom donahue doesn't exactly have the draft grades i would want for a new GM...try and think of the last few good players the bills have drafted for the past 5-7yrs...besides a few corners i can't really think of any

It's hard to predict who our next GM will be since we hardly know any of the candidates. GM's don't have as big of a carousel as coaches do and GM's are typically more low key in national headlines. We may know if X coach is doing poorly, but we don't know how well Z GM is doing. I'm rooting for Jimmy Johnson though!
