Mathia Kiwanuka potentially a Texan?

So I was listening to the radio this afternoon and a caller said that in one of the mock draft sites he follows, Kiwanuka falls into the 2nd round. I don't know if that's actually a possibility, but if it were, well, Yes, we probably have enough DE's on the roster now, but if he fell to the 2nd round he would in all probability be the best player available. There's no way the Texans could pass him up.

that's questionable. since we just picked up kalu, iunno if we need to draft another end?
but he's definitely one of bpa's if he's there

Kiwanuka started out as a top DE in the draft. Since the Senior Bowl and his very poor showing there his stock has dropped considerably. Picking up 2 DEs in FA I don't think this likely to happen.

Agreed. I view this as a longshot even if he is available, which I believe he will be as his stock has fallen considerably. I wouldn't be all that shocked if he were still there at the top of round 3 myself. Then he is very intriguing if he drops that far.

I mean, I dont much care for Mathias Kiwanuka but if he falls to the second I doubt we pick him up but if we did it wouldnt be a bad pickup becuz Kalu is prolly going to last 2 maybe 3 years.

So y not do what we did with travis Johnson, and bench him for a season to help him get back to his First Round Status.

I mean come on who would u rather take?

Mathias Kiwanuka or

10-year Veteran N.D Kalu?

Kalu is just another man to fill the spot

so either way it wont matter to me, (as long as we take Bush.)

whys everyone thinking Kalu is the solution at de?
the guy has one foot out of the nfl door.
if hes there in the 2nd, heck yeah we should draft him.

I have not seen him play but one game, the bowl game vs. Boise State, and he was owned by Daryn Colledge. I read that he was injured during Senior Bowl week and couldn't complete the week. Then he has a subpar combine. He may wind up being an impact player, but selecting him in the second round over a solid O-lineman, MLB, or DB would be a mistake.:twocents:

With the depth of this draft, there will be several players drop to us at #33 that have a first round grade on them who would be better IMO....

Cromartie, Joseph, Greenway/Sims or Ryan, Moss come to mind.

Btw, if you want another DE on the team...Wimbley is the one that we should hope drops to #33 IMO.

Ya their are a lot of other ppl that would could take in the draft that are more needed on this team

and besides I wouldnt be surprised if we took 1 of our OLB and made him a DE.

Like Kenneth Pettway,Antwan Peek, Charlie Anderson, even Babin, so we dont really need Mathias Kiwanuka even if he will be real good later on

and

..........what does IMO mean?

IMO = In My Opinion

...and I dunno, Kiwanuka would be sort of a steal in the 2nd round, but like it was said earlier, I'm just not so sure about passing on an O-Lineman or DB in the 2nd round.

No, They've signed two free agent DEs already. What would they want with the 2nd best end when they could have #1?
He won't fall to the 2nd...

I like Kiwi, but feel there is VERY little drop off from Kiwi to Edwards, but we can get Edwards at #97. Wimbly should be gone in the third. I like Edwards more than Wimbly though.

Kiwanuka and Mario put up almost identical numbers at the Combine. Kiwnauak, man that is a awsome last name :) , is just one of those players who the scouts are not very high on. It boggles my mind because he was such a preseason cant-miss kind of talent and the games I saw this past season he looked great. I really think the Texans should stick with the game plan and pick OL with 2nd and 3rd picks. Really guys, how many years did we hear Cass/Capers say they were going to grab o-line and they never did. Last year everyone had Houston taking that OT Barron, and we nabbed a DT. I think that was the result of a Defensive minded coach, but we have never stuck with the commitment to grab some talent in the OL. This year is a great one for OL as well, very deep and very athletic OT OG and C. I hope we just stick with logic and finnaly bring in the Bacon. Man, the thought of next seasons potential really gets me pumped. I would love to find a jewel OT in the second, this team needs on so dang bad!

I dont know much about Edwards, how good is he?

He is Mario lite.

He is slightly smaller, slower, and weaker than Mario...but not by a whole lot. He has excellent size, a great motor, quick burst, and was smart enough to leave early because his coach was a moron. He is raw, unpolished to a point, but still put up good numbers while showing as much upside as any DE in the draft.
