Texans random thought of the day

I wasn't correcting him as a mod. I was making a comment as a poster. No different than I would have before becoming a mod.

Further that, what was so actually overreacted? Was it rude language, insulting to the poster?

Where did I cross any line from stating what is fact to being aggressive or unruly or unfair?

The Astros and Rockets have been brought up several times in other Texans threads. And nobody said anything. It wasn't a discussion but a shootout to what they were doing or a score update.

You guys realize that going on and on about it is worse than the comment that started it, right? One sentence, with 4 words in it, and y'all have gone on for 12 posts (by my count) about it already. You don't have to respond to every ******* post ever made. You can let things go every once in a while.

Or you can go on and on about it for another 3 pages, who ******* cares anymore, right?

Who is going on and on. I've only commented on it once. So why are you tagging me

Yesterday was an offense kicking the tires workout day. The Texans worked out former Los Angeles Rams tight end Keenen Brown (Texas State, Alief Taylor) along with former Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Elijah Nkansah (who they actually ended up signing to the PS), offensive tackle Paul Adams and center Casey Dunn.
Paul Adams is a rookie and several on this board had eyes on him before the draft.
Be interesting to see if he stays and makes a game day squad.
Not sure if he was drafted or not.

Carries by those 10:

1. Carson - 48
2. McCaffery - 47
3. Da. Johnson - 42
4. Chubb - 39
5. Mack - 38
6. Sanders - 36
7. Ekeler - 30
8. McCoy - 28
9. Hyde - 27
10. Duke - 14

Should also be noted that 40 of that 126 for Duke came on a backwards swing pass last game.

Like I said elsewhere, something actually works, let's not use it much. That's OB's offense.

Since the Texans think signing 40 yr olds is a good idea I wonder what Darelle Revis is doing nowadays. Or someone that can play above average CB. Having 5 safeties is cool too I guess.

Houston Texans Defense Shutting Down Tight Ends Early in the 2019 Season

The Houston Texans wanted to improve their defense covering tight ends in 2019 and it is off to a solid start.

The Houston Texans' defense has surprisingly had some positive returns this season. They are currently tied with a franchise record for most sacks through four games with 13, but another key stat that should not be lost is how well they are defending opposing tight ends.

The Texans signed free agent safety Tashaun Gipson who is known for his ability to control the tight end position in the passing game. Through the first quarter of the season, the Texans defense has flipped an issue they had last season.

In 2018, the Texans could not stop the tight end position giving up 90 receptions for 1,013 yards and eight touchdowns averaging 11.3 yards per catch. Tight ends caught 75% of their passes last season.

The Texans were one of nine teams in the NFL in 2018 to give up over 1,000 receiving yards to the tight end position. The Texans also ranked fourth in most touchdowns given up last season in the NFL with eight.

In the first four games of the 2018 season, the Texans surrendered 20 receptions for 259 yards (12.9 yards per catch) and two touchdowns.

This season the Texans defense has been a different group versus the tight end group to start the year. They have limited tight ends to 13 receptions for 95 yards (7.3 yards per completion) for zero touchdowns.

We are all out of first round picks and the Jags want not one but two for Ramsey so might as well fantasize about Deon Sanders in his prime playing for the Texans.

Don't the Texans have some starting in 2022? And they need TE's... Texans have a couple extra of those don't they?

Jags have already turned down two first-round picks. As I see it, any trade would have to be vets to get Ramsey and I don't see any we have that could be trade bait. The soon-to-be 2 and 4 Jags need to decide if they are going to attempt to save this season (here is where veterans in trade come in) or line up with Miami and Washington's bid for April. If it's the latter then Texans are out of any trades.

As I posted in the Jalen Ramsey thread under the NFL section, the Jags have issues besides record. First is Ramsey apparently not playing in 2019. The second issue and very important is cap space for 2020 (minus $10.5 m). It also seems that Jags are going to allow defensive player Yannick Ngakouye to leave in free agency after this year. Josh Allen doing well.

If I'm Jags & am convinced Ramsey will not change mind I go after McKinney, Cunningham, and Lonnie Johnson. Cap cost total 9.7 million dollars. Ramsey 7.4 million. I would keep Marcell Dareus through 2019 season but not pick up his 2020 option which would free up cap space 20 million dollars. 2018 first round pick Taven Bryan moves up.

It should be noted that 2020 cap space as of now for Jags is a -10.5 million. Moving Ramsey eliminates that as he is $ 13.7; I would add the three million savings to the 20 million from Darius and go after some free agents next offseason. Possibly one would be Texans Robey.

Lonnie Johnson is good addition to add to Bouye now and is a definite Improvement on a non playing Ramsey. McKinney and Cunningham are my starting linebackers strengthening that area with depth behind them. All three are on very good contracts.
If I'm trading with Houston it has got to help me and cost my division opponent.

If I am O'Brien I'm not sure I would do that deal. Ramsey would certainly change our defensive backfield. Do we have backups to at least step up at those positions? I like Cole.

Having Ramsey on board would completely change our 2020 draft strategy in my opinion.

Don't give them any bright ideas. That's too much

Kyle Shannahan is giving a clinic on why he should've been the Texans HC. Both him and Vrabel are better than OB.

The path we are on lead us to Watson. I am not confident had we brought in Shanahan we would have secured Watson. Too many variables.

And I remember Shanahan as the OC who kept passing the ball instead of running it in the Super Bowl to run out the clock against the Patriots. He is up there with with the Seahawks passing instead of giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch to end the game.

Shanahan isn’t perfect. Better than what we got? Sure. Would we have Watson? Probably not. Not a trade I am willing to make.

Watson is supposedly a Rick Smith pick. Watson is a more athletic version of Jimmy G. Why wouldn't he want Watson?

Shannahan made a mistake in the SB. I'm positive that lesson has been learned and won't be repeated.

Texans worked out centers Marcus Henry and Keegan Render and defensive linemen Brian Price and Willie Henry.

Not that Martin is going anywhere anytime soon, but it should be noted that he has had mis-snaps in 4 out of 5 games now.
Question, have the mis-snaps always been an issue. Swear I never remember this being a problem before this season.

Doc, is Mancz in concussion protocol?

We don’t know if he did or didn’t want Watson. We know the 49ers passed on Watson.

What we do know is:

A) That Smith was given an ultimatum at the QB position - that came from McNair.

B) Watson was the only top QB prospect left when the Texans were on the clock.

Andy Reid making that trade up pretty much sealed Watson's fate - made him a Texan. They were going to take whichever QB was available at their pick of Trubisky / Mahomes / Watson.

When Did You Know You Played Your Last Down In Houston?
JC: Oh, probably like to two weeks before the season started. I thought I was going to be in Houston and then the last call to get ready to go in for training camp like two weeks before. Bill O'Brien was like, "We are trading you." I was just like, "Oh, okay." Well, I will hold off on signing now cause I don't know where I'm getting traded to. Because he was like, we don't know we were going to send you yet, but we are going to trade you.

Emotional people always make judgement mistakes. Oh well. JD is doing his thing in SEA, albeit not in DPOY manner I had envisioned, he still is like the 2nd best graded player on that entire team. Would have been nice to use that talent, even for only one more year. "All In" remember?

Good luck to JD (before his knee blows up! :kitten:)
