Trade Down Chance Looking Slimmer and Slimmer

Since the Raiders have signed Aaron Brooks now, chance are getting slimmer and slimmer for a trade down. Now it comes down to who really wants and needs Reggie Bush. I think SF, GB, and of course Indy all want him. But none will offer what we MUST have to do the trade down. Did FA kill us on getting market value in a trade down? :brickwall

Definetly hurt. Also I just do not see why a team would want to trade up to the #1 for a RB, it makes as much sense as us taking VY this year at #1 or in a trade down.

IMO, that's absolutly correct. Brooks is the short term solution for them. The question is "What is the long term solution". They have a couple of young QBs on staff that were drafted fairly high and they have an opportunity to probably grab VY or Cutler. If they draft a QB, Cutler would probably be the better fit for the long pass, vertical offense that the "Prince of Darkness" likes to run.
 
Either way, what would it be worth to them to trade up?? They can just stay put at 12, someone might fall. If not, they can still pick up McNeil or Jacobs. if they really want another young QB........

I doubt they think Aaron is a long term solution right now. but I don't think they are looking for a QB now.... They'll let Aaron play his two years, and keep watching Tousassissippi...... and their other young'un...

but I think Aaron will surprise them, and a lot of people...... he reminds me of Jake Plummer..... tries too much. But when everything is working for him, he can, and has, look Pro Bowl-ish.
 
i think that is why they only signed him to a two year contract. If they draft Vince, let him learn till he is ready to take over. Once he is ready, move Brooks to back up. I think vince will be a lucky to go to team with at least one good wide out even though he is a pain. If Vince went to Arizona it would be the best set up for him in my opinon. Fitz, Boldin and now Edge, that would give him alot of weapons.
 
IMO, our chances of trading down are as good as they ever were. Since Bush is the consensus #1 pick, the only reason a team would trade with us is to draft him. That's the way I see it anyway ...

I also agree with you......the question is what would the Texans need in return :confused:

I agree....... you can't really judge a young QB if he only has one ProBowl WR, and one promising(yet unestablished) Running back. You need at least two Pro Bowl recievers, a RB that can score from anywhere, and cause match up problems for any and all defenses. You also need big time FA Offensive Linemen at 4 out of 5 positions. You need all that before you can honestly determine if the young QB can succeed in the NFL.

I've not heard, or thought of anyone seriously targeting Reggie....... al the talk has been about the QB, since the RB.

So, I've got an idea of who all is looking for a QB, and who isn't anymore.

So.......

who needs a Running Back??

Or do you think there is someone who wants him(like us) but don't really need him, and are willing to trade us for him??

I'd imagine there are 20 or so other teams that would love to have the opportunity to draft him .... now whether they have the want and/or resources necessary to trade up, is debatable ....

Just the same, we listed teams who would possibly be interested in QBs. listed the QBs they'd be interested in.

As far as I can recall, there wasn't a Running back listed in any mocks going in the top ten, other than Reggie. I don't recall seeing a mock with a running back being taken in the first round other than bush..... I could be wrong. my mind only remembers what it wants. But I'll make a point to go back, and look them over.

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports the New York Jets have been rumored to trade up with the New Orleans Saints for the No. 2 overall pick in the first round and selecting Southern Cal QB Matt Leinart. "I know there's a lot of speculation out there," said Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, who admitted he has heard those rumors. "I can't sit here and comment on any specific situation. We'll see what opportunities are presented to us. I won't rule anything in or anything out.


Not a definite,but he sure didn't say no.
 
When you trade down its with the calculation that you can still get one of your targeted players . I count five elite prospects and three QBs who teams want . Since we don't seem to be in the QB market are we willing to take Hawk or Davis ?
 
Things will really heat up if the Titans want Lienart too. Bidding war between the Jets and Titans for the #2 pick, One of those teams may just decide they want Lienart enough to go up to #1 to get him.
 
I'm just curious how much value is in Reggie, if no one else is willing to make an offer.

I think FA just changed who the players were that would be interested in moving up... the price tag for moving up is steep.

Out of principle, I wouldn't trade the #1 to Indy out of fear of facing Reggie twice per year. Plus, we would stand a better chance of beating Indy by not helping with their weakness. Even if it helped us tremendously.

Out only hope is that Jets trade up to #2 before the draft, and Tennessee really wants to reunite Matt Leinart with Norm Chow. Otherwise, you can't make a strong trade case for moving up by any of the lower teams. The draft is deep this year versus other years.

The cards are played. The only chance we don't get him is a "Godfather" deal, which is very unlikley.
