Domanick Davis... The quickest RB in the league?

Well, I think he is. I'm not saying he's the fastest, but he is definitely the quickest RB in the league. In terms of just being able to shift, cut, create space, and make things happen, the only person that I've seen quicker than DD right now is Dante Hall, and he's not even a RB. We're pretty lucky to have a breakout player like him. He's definitely a premiere RB. Not sure if he can break open a 50 yrd run like a Clinton Portis, but he makes up for it with a whole lot of consistency every carry. I'd compare his style to a little bit like Emmit Smith. Just a lot of quickness to thread himself across the trenches.

He just needs to fix his ball carrying. He didn't do a very good job hanging onto the ball last year either. Hope he fixes it soon. We definitely don't need a Tiki Barber here in Houston.

I'm not sure he's the quickest back. He is very quick and a great young back, but I really enjoyed watching the Griffin and Holmes showdown Sunday night. Quintin (spelling?) Griffin and Priest Holmes are two very quick backs themselves. Don't forget about Ladainian Tomlinson either. Dominick is near the top though.

He wont pull away from many DB's but he can make a cut on a dime. Not better than everybody else but still very well.

Yeah maybe not quickest but hey has great vision and can see The hole when its there and when its not he can still make things happen with his strength. he is a very YOUNG but already so talented back and i only expect him to get better ! and he only had 2 fumbles last season thats not bad !

BUENO!
Davis best asset without a doubt (well, at least I have no doubt about it) is his eyes. He's looking for an opening, or a seam, or even a little crack to wiggle through all of the time. How many times do you see a back run right up into the backside of his blockers? What's he looking at when he does that?

DD's not the quickest guy out there. He's certainly not the fastest guy out there. He's shifty and if you show him some daylight he's going to get good yardage. (4-5+) every single time he has an opening to pop through. You can't put a price on that. I'd love for him to have breakaway speed or that "Jedi Mind Trick" thing Sanders used to be able to do but you can make a very good career out of being able to simply spot a hole and get something consistently.

The zone blocking scheme doesn't hurt either. Quintin Griffin rushed for 156 yards last weekend, well it was against the Chiefs.

I wish he'd retire a Cowboy.

Though Davis is a great back, I think it was a little premature for him to predict a 2000 yard season. It would be awesome of that happened but I think a prediction of 1300-1500 would be a bit more resonable at this early stage in his career.

well i c nothing wrong with him setting high goals for himself,,,atleast he's confident. And i dont Doubt him after seeing what he did last season !

Last season was quite amazing and it's nice to see he has the confidence in himself. I just hope the media doesnt have a field day with this if he falls short of his goal. Either way he'll rush over a 1000 yards easy.

Well remember Matt Hassleback in the playoffs "we want the ball and we're gonna score" ? He didnt get dogged to much when he lost the game for his team

if Davis can get over 1000 again, proving that he wasn't a 1 hit wonder that will be enough. 1300 would be great, but he has the potential to get 1500 rushing and reciving yards together.

Lol, that was a classic playoff moment in my eyes. His arrogance came back and bit him in the butt. Yea he was given a pass on that comment but I also think the media kisses his but a little.

Domanick Davis was on the Max kelermewhatever show talking about how he was going to attempt a 2000 yard rushing season this year. Max was dogging him pretty bad. :thumbdown It was nice to see the Texans get some much needed attention though.

OK - I gotta say it. Even Dom Capers is talking about "we gotta take care of the ball" - typical coach speak for any situation - he couldn't have done a BETTER job of putting the ball away! :thumbup

Davis has every reason to hold his head up. He didn't "give" the ball up with an out and out fumble - Jerry Wilson is an old pro and hit him/it HARD with his helmet at the perfect time. Give Wilson credit rather than blaming Davis.

For that matter - Carr's interception was caused by Donnie Edwards, another old Pro in this league, leaping so high in the air the ball hit his helmet and went 30+ feet in the air. Carr didn't make a bad play - Edwards made an EXCELLENT play.

Don't get down on the guys that are going to lead the Texans to the playoffs - at least not when they don't deserve it.

The Texans, Chargers and Seahawks are *all* going to be the most improved teams in the league this year if they can just stay healthy.

'nuff said!

I have no doubt, after Sunday's game, that LT is quicker than DD. Maybe not as tough, I don't know (ignoring the fumbles), but definitely quicker.

Someone else mentioned the 2000 yd. season and, even though I really like DD (like everyone else does), I've thought all along that it's a mistake for ANY RB to come out and say that. It's overconfident and it LOOKS conceited. I think he just doesn't realize that that kind of season takes some luck--along with 16 GREAT games, which requires perfect health all season for him and the OL.

I never took it as DD being arrogant or overconfident.....he just put it out there for every one to know what his next goal is.....sort of like sharing. Sure every back wantst to get to that 2000 yard milestone but he wants to do it this season. He's got high hopes and a lot of faith in himself....I can't knock him for it. I'm glad he comes into this season with high expectations for himself.

I agree because it shows he believes in himself and that he wants to make his self better. I say he can do it but prolly not this season !

Man Bottle O Bud we all know L.T is good but right now were talking about D.D ya know the texans Running Back. I say Davis Can get just as many yards ans tomlinson this season.

Hmmm... The guy that started this thread was asking if DD is the "quickest back in the league" and the answer to that is no. If you don't want to hear "who" is the quickest that is fine.

DD is one heck of a RB and plays the game in the fearless manner it deserves - he's not going to get beat out of being the starter here for a LONG time. I just get sick over people getting down on him. So NO - he isn't the quickest or the best - but he is the quickest and best in this division and that's good enough for me. :boxing:

Man come on do you thin D.D can get as many yards as L.T ? i aint playing you here what i'm saying,,,,,so please reply,,,we know D.D is better so no need to lie

it all depends on how we use him. if he gets as many carries as him then of course, barring injury. but their offense is a run first completely, they will run prolly 60 65% if they can. aso one of the runnin backs that will get caught from behind after a break. if you have watched some of his games he will maybe break for 50 but he will get caught from behind, kinda like dd would/could.

but to answer your question.......a lot of people may not agree, but this is my opinion. i think nody hits the hole faster than thomas jones for the bears or charlie garner for the bucs. if you watched garner run for the raiders he is/was one of the quickest to play for a while....(past 3-4 years)
Yeah, Garner is another really quick back that's underrated IMO.

3 to be exact my texan pa'tna :thumbup great quickness, ability to break tackles in ALL ways great vision all of what yall said up there. if not the quickest, maybe the top 3 or 4 but good enough for me, and good enough for 1000 yards in 10 games last season!!! quicker than kevin jones!!!
Actually, he had 4 fumbles, but only lost 3. In 14 games, I don't think that is too terribly bad, although definitely something he could work on.

As for the yardage, I think his skills are that he could rush for as many yards as Tomlinson were he to get as many carries, but that ain't happening. I think he will be much closer to getting the same combined yardage as Tomlinson.
