Jets | Ramsey acquired for 2006 draft pick
Fri, 17 Mar 2006 12:03:54 -0800

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Washington Redskins have traded QB Patrick Ramsey to the New York Jets for a 2006 sixth-round pick.

Good deal for the Jets if you ask me.

Seems like that QB market is shrinking everyday. 6th round pick sounds real low to me.

I doubt it. If Pennington can't start, Ramsey can. No point in having 3 starting quality QBs on your team. Especially when your team has as many holes as the Jets have. I would say they are taking who ever is left between Mario and D'Brick.

I would have rather had Ramsey for a 6th round pick than Sage Rosenfels. But, hey what do I know.:ok:

On a Jets forum the speculation is that the Jets acquired Ramsey to package with John Abraham to get Matt Schaub...as Atlanta wanted a quaility backup out of the deal

It seems like the the NFL is conspiring against the Texans so they can't trade the 1st overall pick. Brees to NO, means they don't draft Leinart, Jets get Ramsy, and don't appear to be ready to trade Pennington. Snap, I'd still rather draft Williams first overall...or else

The fact that he went for a 6th Round pick just shows you how aware the Jets were of the Redskins situation. They needed to get rid of Ramsey in the worse way, and with the Dolphins acquiring Culpepper & the Saints signing Brees the # of teams searching for a quality QB decreased significantly. I'm guessing Snyder knew that he wasn't going to be able to shop around to find many teams willing to give more than a 6th Round pick for Ramsey, and went ahead and dealt him to the Jets for the pick. The Jets definately seemed to have Snyder over a barrel in this one.

If Ramsey does go on to be used as part of a deal to acquire Matt Schaub then I think the Falcons will make out nicely in that deal. Before acquiring Ramsey it was said that the Jets wanted Schaub & the Falcons 2nd Round pick in exchange for Abraham. I'm guessing if the deal was to go through now it might be Ramsey & Abraham for Schaub & the 2nd Round pick. Just speculation of course. I do think Schaub will make for a very good starting QB someday. Whichever team is able to trade for him will definately be getting a gem.

I guess that Mort was right when they said Campbell was going to be moved into the 2nd string, and possible starting at some point next year. So now it's going to be #1:Brunell, #2:Campbell, #3:draft some rookie? It will be interesting to see what will happen.

Brunell is kind of old and brittle..I'm surprised they'd let a young backup QB go. Unless I missed a QB signing by the Skins.
