Day two picks.

Lonnie and Scharping both very solid players. Like that Gaine faked us out teasing they may only take 1 OL. He is making a commitment in draft capital like the prospects or not. Scharping is a solid solid player. I have a very difficult time seeing him bust outside of an injury situation.
Agreed Scharping should push all starters including center; if Martin and Mancz cannot do it, Fulton or perhaps Rankin can play center with Scharping playing either OG. He is steady and no flash but could be a Mike Munchak.

Let me just say...

You guys want the team to protect Watson, they do that and you're still mad.

Sheesh.

It's the value man. Both these guys are being drafted a round ahead of their value. That's like saying I need a car, and you bring me a 72 Pinto.

I don't even mind the picks per se - but why not trade back and add additional value. There's been trades all over the place - they can be had.

Yeah no pleasing some of these bums.. basically if they don’t know them they automatically suck in the eyes of some here.

Oh, we know them......just not as passionately as OB and Gaine. The Texans could've traded back to 30, 61 and 62.....got all 3 while grabbing an additional 3 to 6 picks.

It is not about we not knowing these guys it's about no body knowing about them.
Either the Texans picked these guys way to early or our GM is smarter than every other team and draft expert in the world.
Every one of our picks are extremely early according to their draft grades.

Did you just compare this guy to Mike Munchak?

I'll have what he's smoking. Or actually on 2nd thought, I think I'll pass.

I hope we don’t ruin another rookie OL by playing him everywhere early.

I like OL Max Scharping in the second round. But I'm a bit baffled by Lonnie Johnson. From what is just read, I'm not seeing him as a CB or a safety. I'm willing to bet they could have gotten him or his equal at the end of the draft or as a UDFA.

Or, more like trade back, and not get any value at all. And how easy is it to trade back if you can’t find anyone to trade up? C’mon man, don’t be so stupid.

What the hell are you smoking? I'm going to pass on your stash as well.

One guy thinks Lonnie Johnson is a UDFA, and another thinks Sharping is the next Mike Munchak.

I'm either in an odd dream, accidently dropped acid with my dinner, or I''m caught in a parallel universe. Oh look, there's a giant ant riding a unicorn.

So all those other trades were just a dream. Got it.

And you think that Max Sharping couldn't be had a few picks later. And even if that is the case, there are other athletes as good or better.

Can someone tell me what Lonnie Johnson brings to the Texans?

Being drafted a round ahead of their value based on who's board? Bucky Brooks said he has received calls from GMs stating Lonnie is gonna be the top CB in this class. Doubt their boards have him as a 3rd round value.

Scharping rated 2-3 round prospect by Zierlein. He's not a sexy player but he's probably one of the most solid clean prospects in this draft regardless of position and he'll help drop DW4's sack total. I'll take that in round 2.

Unless you’re god.....or Dr. Strange with the time stone, you simply DO. NOT. KNOW. THIS.

Why you guys keep acting like ya’ll can predict what could’ve been done is beyond me.

Bucky Brooks on TV tonight? Or on sundays in the winter.

I'm going to sleep on these picks, study them a little more tomorrow and hopefully feel a lot better about each of them.

For what's it worth, I got calls on who the texans gonna take

I said he could be and what do you know about Scharping? Haven't seen any of your film or game reviews? It is commonplace and we're watching exactly this on the draft right now. Doesn't mean the player becomes exactly like the comparison but comparison gives others an idea what to look for.

My guess is rookies start at some point this season. Ideally they come in and magically adjust to the NFL. Realistically the vets start, get hurt, and then the rookies take over. They’re playing this season.
That's what I'm anticipating, too. I'm not wishing injury or sub par play on anybody. But I nonetheless think both new OLs will be playing before the end of the season. We just can't predict where or with who with any certainty.

I agree but Scharping IMO has mental and physicals to handle that if he has to but he might not. D with a healthy Rankin and #4 should be way better on left and Fulton if healthy should assist Henderson and center. Many want Houston to be like New England well I think Davenport and Howard are those type moves. OB believes in his starters and is bringing in future starters.

You're not the only one who thinks that.

Max Scharping, G/OT, Northern Illinois
This is Houston's best pick so far, and yet it earns only a "C" grade. Perhaps the franchise shouldn't have fired all of their smart personnel people because Bill O'Brien wanted "yes men."

This is Houston's best grade but Scharping is not a C player. Solid solid player. You're gonna like NOT hearing his name mentioned on Sundays while starting on the Texans OL.

I think we are done on the OL.

LT. Howard/Scharping/Kalil
LG. Rankins
C. Martin/Mancz
RG. Fulton/Mancz
RT. Howard/Scharping

Davenport swing.

Time to trade down from 86 to the 4th and get that 4th + a 5th.

Safety/CB/iDL/RB/WR rest of the draft

The OL got a lot more interesting with these two additions. Also important to note Rankin's rookie season was greatly hampered by him missing almost entire offseason with foot surgery after suffering broken foot first day of rookie minicamp. THEN being thrown in at LT after Davenport got moved to RT when Henderson got hurt and limited reps.

Now Martinas gets a full offseason to develop at LG and we add the talent/athleticism infusion with the rookies. If Khalil has anything to give that's a bonus and if Davenport can develop that would be nice too. DW4 will have improved protection this season!

I like your analysis, absolutely do.
