The Draft Network Mock

Wolf12339

Waterboy
I've been playing around with their Mock draft machine and its a lot of fun. Here is the best player available Option. Let me know what you think

1. TJ Hockenson, TE Iowa

2. Julian Love CB, Notre Dame

2. Yodny Cajuste, OT West Virginia

3. Rock Ya Sin, CB Temple

5. Trayveon Williams, RB A&M

6. Jalen Hurd, WR Baylor

7 Mark Fields, CB Clemson

I only have 3 OT, 1 CB, 1 OG, worthy of a 1st round selection if we stayed at #23 overall. Its why I went Best player available. The talent in rounds 2-5 is insane and 2 of my favorite late round gems are Jalen Hurd and Derek Thomas the CB from Baylor.

I like it

Hockenson would be the

Love is a KJ type CB

Cajuste everybody know how I feel about him

Ya Sin - Nasty name, not game. Avg talent. Not quick or or fast.

Williams- Love this pick, bring him home. If Foreman is healthy, a RB committee of Miller/Foreman/Williams is pretty good.

Hurd is exactly the kind of guy I'm looking for here. Supremely athletic. At worst you end up with a 6'4 slot that can run in the 4.4's. At best he can play outside and also because he was an All SEC RB he could become the GL RB if Foreman doesn't make it back.

Fields will play in the NFL for along time in the slot. He instantly is a better Slot CB than Colvin was last yr. Now things are different if Colvin plays like he did in 2017 as a Slot CB.

Hopefully if this mock happens the I really hope Gaine adds Trent Brown and I wouldn't have an issue with adding Suh in FA.

I would consider Brown/Suh on par with the JoJo/Manning FA signing impact and would certainly signal a change in org philosophy.

Got a link for that?

I'm not sure about TE in the 1st... would depend on who else was available

TE in the first?

Giving up on the Jordans already?

Sounds like an Obrien move for sure. Any player not plug and play is doomed here. Reminiscent of the QB carousel.

I'd rather find a CB or RB before looking at TE's. That is if Gaine works magic in FA and gets O line help.

Doubt Foreman has what it takes to overcome his injury.

BUT we would be best served in the first to shake the bushes and find a damn LT. There is one out there.

Wouldn't bother me if Gaine spent three or four picks on O linemen. It all begins up front.

Here I am getting all worked up and nothing has even happened yet. :)

Agreed

Hang in there young fella

That would be awesome, but how did you hold off taking Dillard until the 3rd?
Dillard was kinda under the radar until the Senior Bowl week when he really took off as I've two or three mocks in the last week or so where he's going top 10 including to Division rival Jacksonville @ #7 overall.

Hockenson is the best TE in the draft. He's the best blocking TE, and the second best receiving TE after his Iowa teammate Fant. Adding a TE like that is similar to adding an additional blocker on the end of the line.

So no faith in Thomas? No CB or Interior pass rusher available? Hockenson would be a luxury pick, and I don't think the Texans go there. If he's BPA, they try to trade back

I think you did the Mock draft on the Wrong settings. Andre Dillard is a 1st rounder and Lonnie Johnson is a 2nd rounder. You want to do the Predictive setting.

I agree they'd try to trade back in that scenario. There is only 3 OT's worthy of #23 and One CB in my opinion.

Still depends on FA. We get Trent Brown and Ronald Darby, just as a for instance, and all of a sudden with two 2's still in play and a luxury with the talent and usefulness of a Hockenson is all of a sudden a reasonable pick.

Like you, I think most posters here believe our free agent signings will impact the draft.

Just many differing opinions whether or not a CB would be the better option over a TE when the time comes to choose. No right answer at this point in time. A quality RB could also become available.

All ASSuming, of course, that the Oline is addressed in FA.

Going to be a fun draft to watch this year.

Just looked at site, didn’t see simulator but no matter with their Big Board not updated no wonder mocks are coming up roses :flowers:

The Mock Simulator is working andit looked pretty updated based on draft grades after the Combine.

Gave the Draft Network Draft Simulator a whirl and came up with the following draft:

RD1-23-023: Dalton Risner, OT, Kansas State
**6-5 @ 312 lbs / Rating- 6.10 / Reps- 23 / 5.30-40**

RD2-22-054: Chase Winnovich, EDGE, Michigan
**6-3 @ 256 lbs / Rating- 5.68 / Reps- 18 / 4.59-40**

RD2-23-055: Trayvon Mullen, CB, Clemson
**6-1 @ 199 lbs / Rating- 5.75 / 4.46-40**

RD3-23-086: Isaiah Johnson, CB, Houston
**6-2 @ 208 lbs / Rating- 5.70 / 4.40-40**

RD5-23-195: David Montgomery, RB,Iowa State
**5-10 @ 222 lbs / Rating- 5.85 / 4.60-40**

RD6-22-195: Mitch Hyatt, OT, Clemson
**6-5 @ 303 lbs / Rating- 5.48 / Reps- 28 / DNR-40**

RD7-06-220: Jazz Ferguson, WR, Northwestern State
**6-5 @ 227 lbs / Rating- 5.24 / 4.45-40**

I'd be ok if Gaine wanted to add, LT-Brown and DT- Suh to this group, while still having plenty in the cap kitty to pay or sign Clowney and any other FA Texan they don't want to lose.

If Montgomery's 40 time gives any team apprehension I'd be pretty happy to see him fall into RD5 but I'm guessing he runs a much better 40 at Iowa State's Pro Day and restores his early round projections.

Realistic, plus I like it.
Man, how good would it be to snag Dalton Risner?

He’s got to prove he can stay healthy first, more like insurance policy that you hope to never use but there if you need it.

I agree he (Henderson) needs to prove it, but we have too many other needs to use our first on a RT only type. I think he'll (Risner) be a solid pro, but he's a second rounder to me because he can't play on the left side.

I think he can play anywhere on the OL except maybe LT. If Devlin was to move Fulton to his best position (Center) then play Risner at RG next to Henderson at RT and let Martin/Rankin fight it out at LG, plus sign Brown at LT and I can guarantee you the OL will go from a weakness to a strength , plus there will be quality depth. (Mancz/Davenport/Kelemete) It just takes an investment.

It's obvious to me they love Risner, they met with him at the Combine/Sr Bowl and went to his pro day. I wonder if they are looking at Risner at 23 or are they hoping he falls to the early 2nd rd and trade up to get him after taking one of the CB's at 23?

Prospects will still move around a little during Pro Days and meetings, but as long as we stay above within the first round, we'll be safe .... I hope ! He's one of those guys you want on your line.

I'm thinking Gaine/BOB/Devlin are thinking Risner can play LT. He said in an interview to Kirwan on NFLN he can play anywhere on the OL. I think it's possible after seeing Risner get the best of Sweat in the Sr Bowl practices.

I get what YoungTexanFan said and its applicable here, to help us all understand, that it really truly comes down to BPA. First Round player's are your foundation to build around and evaluate for the first five years you pay to earn their services. We are at that point right now with Clowney, who was just franchised. Now we're not talking about the #1 overall player here but mindset should be to draft the inevitable #1 player in that five year window. They've done it twice maybe three times if you believe Watson can attain level of Mahomes? Texans selected DeAndre Hopkins 27th overall and JJ Watt 11th overall. So when doing evaluations and stacking your board, besides needs and holes to fill you evaluate each prospects talent level, to stay ahead of the competition. DL makes a lot of sense in 2019 draft class, if one slips to #23. Texans really need interior penetrating DT and Watt's time is running out. OL talent is stacked on the inside unfortunately your reaching for OT in first unless tackle hungry teams ahead of Texans fall in love with a player @ another position. Hopefully Gaine can address this need via free agency along with CB. Then focus can really be on BPA whatever position that may be excluding QB, Punter and Kicker :fostering:

Agreed

I wouldn't have a problem with Long/Greedy/Long/Little or Lawrence in the 1st.

I picked Risner b/c he was the best player available and at a position of need. The top LT and CB's were off the board by 22. From the Texans...they seemed sold on Davenport and want to give him a shot at being able to play LT. They re-signed Henderson, not as a bonafide RT starter but more for depth on the OL. If Henderson wins the starting RT job, then he wanted to finally show his talent.

Bob/Gaine/Devlin think every player could play left tackle.. They're usually wrong. Risner is not a LT.

I’d be happy with this haul!

I like it, Kaleb McGary will be a much better Guard then Tackle. He will definitely get moved inside.

Any GM worth his salt will do exactly that. All these people saying we will draft only OT and CB with our first three picks are clueless. It’s why I haven’t even bothered doing a mock draft this year. Unless you pick OT or CB with first three picks the only replies you’ll get are people complaining that we have to do that.

Mussop...there are no bad Mock Drafts. Just an opinion and your outlook. I like any and all Mock Draft efforts.
