Texans to play the Jags Game @ London

It was bound to happen... could think of other teams I'd prefer the Texans to play there

Yous may disagree, but this is about time. I've been waiting 12 years for them to come here

I'm happy for you guys overseas that get a chance like this. It doesn't affect my view, since I always watch on TV and never go to the games anyway. When this game approaches, I'll have to check the local Pubs to see if any might be open. I really like going to my favorite Pub on Sundays at noon and getting steak and eggs and watching the first half of the game.

I watched the Jags play the 49ers, Cowboys, Bills and Colts in London from 2013-16, mainly to root against the Jags. Wish I could have seen the Texans when I lived there.

God'ell sucks.

Looks like I might be missing at least the first half of that game.

Your loss. Americans come from all over Europe, especially the bases in Germany, to watch these games. It was always a great atmosphere.
You’re correct, it is certainly an experience that I will never forget. In addition to all of the activities leading up to the game surrounding the stadium, I attended a party in Piccadilly Circus hosted by some of those in the sports media, and met lots of fans in the military and others from several countries. I also became a Joss Stone fan.

Is that a recently built stadium where the Texans will be playing?

I can only hope so as a Spurs supporter; however, the NFL has yet to announce the location as they plan to use Tottenham Stadium (New White Hart Lane*) and Wembley.

It's not been determined yet. Assuming Tottenham ever finish their new stadium it will host two games and Wembley the other two.

So we'll either be at Wembley or the Toilet Bowl.

My office was a few blocks from Oxford Circus so I'm all too familiar with those Regent Street game day experience parties.

The year the Cowboys played they were going to show up on the concert stage on Wembley grounds. Supposed to get dropped off backstage but something went wrong and they ended up walking to the stage right through the crowd. Fist-bumped Witten and Romo as they walked by. I need to go find those photos. I was representing Texas so went to the game in Cowboys gear.

That is the game I went to. I missed the players appearance, but was there for the broadcast with Emmett, Irvin and trying to recall who else. Saw Boselli on stage, too.
I would love to see the photos.

About 8 of us are going!

Is the food really bland an heard they serve warm beer? Wtf
The last time I went to Wembley the food wasn't terrible but very expensive. I was expecting some really good American food but nope, it was the usual pie and chips, fish and chips offering inside the stadium.

I did laugh at a really typical New Yorker yelling "can't anyone get a hawtdawg around here!?" In his really thick accent.

The beer in all stadiums is pretty shocking over here, and they aren't used to serving beer to drink in view of the field either.
You'll have plenty of choice as to where to eat around London, however.

I really want to go to this, but my travel dollars are already committed for a trip to India at Thanksgiving.

There's a Pub across the street from Big Ben, On the bridge right side. Hands down, the best Fish-N-Chips you'll ever eat. The beer was ice cold. Hell, my daughter would take a sharp stick to the eye before eating fish.....succumbed and fell in love with their Fish-N-Chips.

Is this the place?

I think I have eaten there once - the hotels I stay at in London for work aren't far from here - if that's the place I'll try it out when I go back, looking like I'll be there for a few weeks in March.

If you want the best fish and chips, go to the Golden Hind in Marylebone. Not a pub but a regular restaurant. 100+ years of nothing but fish and chips.

So many pubs have good food that you wouldn't be disappointed in many. For a great pub drinking experience, try the Coal Hole. For the best pies, try The Windmill or The Hung, Drawn and Quartered.

1000% I'll be there. 2 days in Wales, 5 in Ireland, and 3 in London. God bless the Texans for getting me to start putting together a savings account for this. I haven't seen some parts of my family in 20 years, it's going to be EPIC.

Now, we can't even plan out the best part. What Rugby or Footie is going to be happening around the same time? I'm doing a sports tour of the UK and the missus is behind it as long as she gets to see Ireland.

I'm off to brush up on my Gaelic

That's got to be the place....I remember walking past Cafe Nero. The Pub will be downstairs and you'll walk up a narrow staircase to the restaurant area. The Split Pea soup was amazing as well.

I dunno what's a Houston-London round trip costing these days ?
Check daily. Back when I was planning for the Cowboys game the prices were mostly around $1300 r/t. Then one Tuesday night about 10:00 the fare was in the low $600. I started to gamble but decided not wait and bought at that price. Thank goodness because prices went back up and remains so until my travel date. I think I purchased the ticket about a month before the trip but had been checking fares since the schedule came out.

dis a jags home game right or Texans ……

I was like ok season tickets will be cheaper LOL

You have to get on an airplane or a big boat to get to England, and I'm not doing either. That's what TVs are for.
:lol:you go ahead and camp out on the couch.
I'm not burning up my retirement years sitting in front of the tube ...err, flat screen...there haven't been 'tubes' in years
This is as good an excuse as any to go exploring. :D

gonna try to. Hope hotel rooms don't skyrocket too badly on the game dates
I think we'll stay a bit out of London, maybe Luton or somewhere a bit less glamorous, it's pretty easy to get in by train from there and should be a lot cheaper.

We stayed at a Ramada in South Ruislip, that was a block or two from the subway. We bought an Oyster card and moved about pretty freely with a couple exceptions when we used taxis.

In reference to the beer, I enjoyed cold Stella which I like, but was also treated to Guinness with Tia Maria which together isn’t bad.

Luton? You can't be serious? Do you have family or friends there?

FYI: : Luton makes Rhyl look like a 5* resort

There are still white people there, so yeah, the food is bland. Try some Fish & Chips and Shepard's pie anyway. Maybe you can sneak 3 ounces of hot sauce in with you. If you want something spicy there are good Indian restaurants.

As for warm beer - an excellent beer that actually has taste should be served a little warm. A Fuller's ESB should be about 50F. It should be a crime to serve it at 35F (might actually be a crime over there...) But don't worry. I'm sure they have plenty of flavorless American beers iced down for the tourists. They'll probably even charge you more than they would for an excellent English ale because you will be drinking an "import".
