NFL Random Thought of the Day

Marvin Lewis is out in a mutual parting in Cincinnati.

Adam Gase out in Miami. Chris Grier takes over football operations.

Todd Bowles out from Jets.

Vance Joseph gone from Denver.

Of course Browns will look at replacing Hue Jackson.

Packers looking to replace Mike McCarthy

Buccaneers looking to replace Dirk Koettner

Arizona looking to replace Steve Wilks

I think McCarthy will end up in Cleveland... the others I see as going back to coordinator slots as none of them have impressed, but then Billionaires aren't necessarily rational

Any good OC’s in there?

Lol

That’s surprising. That guy is a cancer. I haven’t seen anything that tells me he is better than average at OC.

Cranial flatulence, I was thinking of Josh McDaniels.

But...Haley had top 5/10 offenses in E-P in Pittsburgh for years. Houston needs an E-P OC. Haley is available since the Browns mid-season swept house. Gotta be better than a friend of OB defense oriented TE coach.

I'm watching the Baltimore/Browns game (DVR). the AFC North is going to be an exciting division for a little bit.

Elway said that Kubiak will be with the team in 2018 and that they are still sorting out what role he will play.

“We’ll see. We’re still in that process,” Elway said. “We still have a lot of things to go over before that, but I think it could be where it is, it could be on the offensive side [as a coach]. We’ll see what that role may be, but Gary will be around.”

I've always considered the Injury Reports less than honest.........with no true oversight. From PFT:

Will NFL investigate Steelers for “overt lying” on injury report?

January 1, 2019, 11:31 AM EST

Violations of the rules regarding injury reporting usually happen when a team conceals a player’s health issue. Rarely does anyone get in trouble for reporting a fake injury, or for exaggerating a mild one.

The Steelers land in that unusual category, if Monday’s Antonio Brown bombshell is accurate (and there’s no reason to think it isn’t). So apart from the question of what the Steelers will do about Brown, it’s important to ask what the NFL will do about the Steelers.

As one league source has observed, “overt lying” on the injury report is a much bigger problem than Brown’s antics, because shenanigans with the injury report speak to competitive issues, about which the league office should be very concerned. It’s unknown whether the league office actually is concerned or will take action; the NFL has not responded to an inquiry from PFT regarding the situation.

Whatever happens and however it plays out, the Keith Butler/Tyler Eifert coverupsuddenly pales in comparison to what apparently was a deliberate decision to hide the dysfunction by brushing off Brown’s absence from practice and from Sunday’s game as the product of an injury, when in fact there was no injury — or at a minimum no injury that would keep Brown from playing.

The motive for hiding the truth is obvious. The Steelers didn’t want yet another distraction or disruption as they faced a must-win game. And if word had emerged that Brown had: (1) thrown a football at Ben Roethlisberger; (2) stormed out of practice; and (3) not shown up for practice on Thursday or Friday, it would have been a HUGE distraction and disruption from preparations for Week 17.

The huge distraction and disruption has now arrived, but the Steelers have nothing else to currently do. Coach Mike Tomlin will still have to address the situation, since his end-of-season press conference will happen on Wednesday.

Unless he decides to not show up.

Or throw a football at the press....

What ?!?! No one thinks Melvin, er Marvin Lewis would make a great coach somewhere else ??
BWAAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAA !!! So happy he's no longer the coach of the Bengals.

However, we still have the worst owner in all professional sports, let alone the NFL.
His plan is to hire Melvin's buddy Hue Jackson, but is afraid of the fan backlash.
He should be afraid, there would be a mass exodus of fans.

At that point in time I would immediately do what others say they could never do, and switch teams.
"ArmyBengal" would become "ArmyTexan" !!!

In a press conference after the firing of former head coach Vance Joseph, Broncos General Manager John Elway said that Gary Kubiak could return to the coaching staff as the team’s offensive coordinator this year and that he would remain in the organization in one role or another.

They’re reportedly making sure of that by denying interview requests from other teams that want to talk to Kubiak about their own coordinator vacancies. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Falcons and Bengals have both requested permissionto interview Kubiak since the end of the regular season.

Falcons make a ton of sense if he is willing to leave Denver.

I think this Riveron guy is the worst head of officiating we've had in recent years. His reviews and rule interpretations make no sense. 3 stupid review rulings today already.

Next week I want the Colts and Patriots to lose so we have KC and the Chargers in the championship game.

Likewise I want the Eagles and Cowboys to lose so we have Saints and the Rams in that playoff game.

In any case, I'd like to see either Rivers or Brees get a SB ring.

God help this board if the Cowboys get anywhere near the Super Bowl. LOL

OMG, that would be awesome! It’s a rough road to say the least, but LA should feel more like a home game, then the rest is on the team.

Brees has one. I would really like to see Rivers get one

Honestly, as long as the Colts, Patriots, or Cowboys don't win the SB, I don't care who does. Seeing Rivers after all his years of work for the Chargers get a ring would be nice. I could deal with the hype from that better than the hype we'd get if KC wins and we have to listen to how godlike Mahomes is all offseason.

Cowboys!!!

Would love to see Brees and Rivers in the Super Bowl.
With Brady, Manning and big Ben dominating the AFC the last 16 years (only QBs other than 1 season for Flacco to represent AFC in the SB in that span), I'd like to see big Philly (Rivers) at least get there. Gonna have to beat Brady to do it though and he's a career 0-7 against him.

How whack would an all LA SB be?
