Texans' FA News

i think so. plus we already have signed weaver and this doesn't say that we are cutting walker.

typical yahoo article.

I have supported all they have done so far, but i dont like this i loved all these guys. Hope this means they are getting ready for something big.

He is a restricted FA.

I will post the links from NFL.com before this gets out of hand.

Ya, I know he's a RFA but if you don't offer the minimum tender he's free to go.

Wells and Gaffney are UFA's so those don't surprise.

Peek is a shocker. :shocked

I'm glad Gaffney is gone. :headbang:

Wells, he sort of showed up when DD went down.

Kubiak is cleaning house and hopefully bringing this team on track to be a real team.

:fans:

they offered the minimum tender. see post above.

Minimum tender = 3rd rounder = to where he was drafted -- if he signs with another team. That statement is very misleading.

So, if Peek signs with someone else we get a first round pick as compensation?

That's what the NFL.com article says; he must have gotten at least the midlevel tender.

According to your link they gave peek a mid tender:

Armstrong, Derick WR Arkansas-Mont ROFR
Peek, Antwan LB Cincinnati 1st
Ragone, Dave QB Louisville 3rd
Wand, Seth T N.W. Missouri 3rd

Armstrong, Ragone and Wand got minimum tenders and so receive their original draft pick in compensation. Peek got a mid and so would carry a 1st.

I had no idea they were going to let Peek go. The others were kind of anticipated. Time to worry....I mean trust the staff. I do have the Faith, just thought Peek was going to be around.

:texflag:

I thought that if you let a RFA walk untendered that you dont get any compensation? I may be mistaken on that... I thought that Gaffney would be resigned for sure...and Peek as well...I could see Wells leaving with Bush possibly coming in and already having DD and V-Mo...but I still think these guys are signable, just not tendered, maybe working on a longer term deal?

I'm not a religious person, but I will make an exception in this case and pray for someone to sign Peek, Ragone and Wand.

You are correct. I read too quickly.

Of course, the Texans made a simple press release threads like this would never occur.

You can let a RFA walk untendered. But according to the NFL.com article, the Texans gave Peek a mid-level tender. Meaning JP Crawford's article is incorrect - or misleading at best.

Actually the only question is Peek since Gaffney and Wells are already UFAs and are technically not on the team unless re-signed.

So Peek is still with us unless someone is crazy enough to give up a 1st rounder for him? Gaff and Wells are now free agents, not all that surprising, its going to be interesting to see how this shapes up.

Initial reaction.

I sense this is bad info. The Texans wouldn't release Peek if he was given the mid-level tender according to NFL.com.... that is unless he got into more trouble in the last day or two

Peek is a big surprise to me. I liked the guy. I hope this is part of some master plan. Otherwise, I'm going to not be pleased.

well, at least the offseason just got more interesting, and focus can be taken off ahem...other debatable issues :)

Actually I think this is a great idea. If anybody takes him from us we get another 1st rd. pick. Think about it though we aren't overpaying him this yr. and he can get a long-term contract done during the season. I don't think he's going anywhere. The only guys I see leaving that I might miss a little bit are Gaffney and Wells.

I have a feeling Peek is still with us and Gaffney and Wells are still unsigned UFAs. In other words, much ado about nothing - except that I didn't know about Peek's mid-level tender.

I'm confused. . . I don't know what is going on or who is on this team....I'll wait for a news article to sort this stuff out

just some info for every1- it isnt set in stone that we have to get a 1st rounder for peek. the compensation is negotiable if we want to get rid of him.
EG- the 9ers gave brandon lloyd a mid tender aswell(1st and 3rd comp) but are willing to settle for a 3rd this year and a 4th next year from the skins because lloyd wants to leave

Man, not JW and JG. *sigh Ah well. It's Kubiak's team, now. Maybe he'll consider these guys and hopefully they'll be back. JW was doing a good job in DD's absence, even though he was the guy before DD. JG I think was a bit more reliable than Bradford. We'll see how this thing ends up.

I see the Texans have signed FB Jameel Cook from the Bucs.

It's really not that hard. Go here: http://www.ourlads.com/secure/depthchart.cfm?index1=HOU

Red means UFA and the player is now free to negotiate with anyone.

Black means RFA, meaning the player's movement is restricted but only if they have received a tender (offer) from the Texans to stay on. According to the article on NFL.com, only Ragone, Wand, Peek, and Armstrong have received tenders.

Blue means the player is under contract and locked up.

Does anybody know if we even made an attempt at signing LeCharles Bentley??????????????:brickwall :brickwall :brickwall :brickwall
