Ok, so I am going to my first Texans game against the Browns. What do I need to know to have a great time. Im a disabled vet but I can get around well. What time should I get there? Im coming from Ft Hood Saturday and staying in Alvin that night, and heading to Houston in the morning. Any tips??
Get to the stadium ~1-1 1/2 hours before you think you need to.............the traffic will be an eye opener. If you want to tailgate, I'd add an extra hour to that. Hope you enjoy the game..........and thank you for your service!

First of all, thank you for your service.

Coming from Alvin, even with all the construction going on, traffic shouldn't be too bad, though I would check for road and ramp closures just to make sure. It does get maddening closer to game time though so the earlier the better.

Gates open 2-3 hrs(?) before kickoff. If able, try to enjoy as much tailgating experience as you can. Do you have a parking pass to go with your ticket? Great tailgates in all lots.

Also appreciate your service and sacrifice sir. FRom 288, dont get on 610, go up and come across Old Spanish Trail. 30 minutes prior to games you see some warming up of the crowd with Toro, and such so I like to arrive early and parked 1 hr before kickoff. Introductions and Thunderstruck get me ready as well. Roof is never open, but I noticed Monday I was happy I had a jacket, seems we have cooling but not heating in NRG!

Just 2 more days until JJ bends that bratty little Baker Mayfield over his knee and gives him a real spankin.

I hope you enjoy the game brother. You should get the early enough to hit up the Tailgating that goes on. You might enjoy some really good BBQ and a few ice cold beers with other great Texans fans before the game. As I am also a vet, although not disabled, I really appreciate your service. Hope you have a great time and get to enjoy a great Texans victory as well as some good BBQ and cold beer.

I haven't seen it said yet, but if you are bringing a woman with you make sure she doesn't bring her purse, or at least has one of the NFL approved clear bags. It's an NFL policy you won't get in, and will be stuck walking all the way back to put it up, every game I go to I see them stop someone for this very thing.

If you haven't been here since 94' then you're in for a eye opener..even with new road construction. The area has grown about 2.5 million people since 94' Traffic is getting as bad as LA now.

Being on Sunday it won't be too bad, but trying to get to a Monday or Thursday nighter during rush hour is horrific.

No more truthful statement in the entire history of message boards. I may never go to another Monday/Thursday game again after the last 2.

I’m sorry but this has TRAP GAME WRITTEN ALL OVER IT...... 8 in a row...... team starting to smell itself....... and our defense absolutely SUCKS ass against mobile quarterbacks...... they thrash us every time by extending plays ..... breaking containment and using our aggressive pass rush against us while also punishing JJo who is a shell of himself now ............ I hope the guys are focused and not taking this team lightly..... Baker can hurt us Sunday moving around back there

I just don't understand what some of you people are watching. The defense absolutely sucks against mobile QBs? Bortles, Prescott, Mariota, Allen and Smith/McCoy, this trashed defense has given up an average of 12 points per game to those mobile QBs.

Fire RAC, trade JJ, tear this thing down and start over.

Crack is bad.

I dont think this is a trap game im pretty sure everyone on Kirby know how young and talented the browns are ...and are very capable of betting us and vise versa

Platinum lot opens five hours prior to kickoff. The rest of the lots open four hours prior.
Unless they've changed it recently

Is that what they call a Freudian slip?

Miles Garrett will be head-hunting Watson Sunday.
That's why I think the Texans need to run right at Garrett early. Take some of the steam out of him. Maybe make him chase down a reverse, to boot.

I’m sorry but this has TRAP GAME WRITTEN ALL OVER IT.....
OK, a letdown will happen at some point. But the Browns are coming off their first road win since the Revolutionary War, beating their former head coach. They may be due for a letdown, as well. We'll find out.

Is that what they call a Freudian slip?

I am. Are you? smh at these "official" MB peeps coming over.

So we didn’t have problems with Baker Mayfield in the second half???? Did you not see those chunk plays in the second half??!!!! I’ll give it to you........ our defense was lights out first half and 3 ints in the second quarter....... 24-30 for 351 yards guys in the second half......... and we were 2 superstar miracle plays by our rookie safety and a holding penalty from losing that game...... his receivers let him down........ Baker did what he had to do to come back and Beat US yesterday and made our defense look silly in the second half with his MOBILITY..... he ran right pass our superstar rushers and picked us apart ........ the receivers didn’t hold on to the ball ....... but Baker did the impossible and did his part....... now it worked against the lowly Browns And if you wanna crown us because of that ..... be my guest...... but I know for a fact that won’t work against the big boys come playoff time....... that’s Big Ben and AB yesterday...... or Mahomes and Tyreek....... or Brady and Gronk........ hell even if it was Phillip Rivers and Keenan Allen or Mike Williams and we are toast yesterday.......

About the second half. The Texans were up 23-0 to start the half. Both offense and defense went conservative. The reason is easy to see. No need to run the score up on the Browns. They weren't likely to mount a come back, and didn't. Just score enough points to keep the game out of their reach. That's what the O'Brien and Romeo did. 5 field goals. Why didn't O'Brien go for it on any of those drives instead of kicking the field goal? He didn't need to.
Why risk injury or giving up a turn over when you don't need to? Against a team like the Colts, O'Brien will need to be much more aggressive because of Luck's ability to come back and turn a game around. There wasn't much of a chance of that against the Browns. I agreed with the coaches decision to play more conservatively in the last quarter and a half. O'Brien actually called a good game in this one and in the last several games. He may actually be learning from his mistakes.

Can you please elaborate on the bold. First of all, can you explain these 2 miracle plays by Reid? It's a stretch, but I'll give you the forced fumble as a "miracle". What's the other play? Also, the holding and forced fumble happened on the same drive. So lets say these two "miracle" plays didn't happen, AND the Browns went ahead and scored TDs, AND for the hell of it they went and converted 2pt conversions both times, AND the Texans offense continued their conservative style of play... that would still only equate to a tie.

BTW, I don't know why even bring up the holding penalty. That hold saved a sack on Baker.

In the second half Reid make too amazing plays....... and Baker was throwing it over the top on us by running past our pass rush........ you know the one play...... he miraculously gets a last second strip on the one yard line...... saving a touchdown........ second one he came way across the Field again because somebody got burned again and separated the receiver from the ball........ who was gone if he doesn’t make that play ..... my point is ...... we got away with the conservative play against the browns...... it won’t work against the big boys and we will be one and done again yet another year if we take our foot off the gas or whatever y’all are calling it......... and I won’t argue this with you..... let’s just see if we get the same outcome when it’s Brady and Gronk........ Baker also threw a touchdown over the top once again that got called back from a hold ....... i just didnt like the big chunk plays multiple times..... scares the hell out of me...... I don’t want to rely on my rookie to make miracles every play..... lets keep plays in front of US AT THE LEAST

OK, our definitions of "miracle" are different. A hail mary TD, or recovering an onside kick, I would consider miracle plays. A forced fumble by punching the ball out, or a hard hit on a receiver causing the receiver to not secure the ball, are very good plays. A "miracle", I don't think so.

What you need to do is stop comparing this game, to a game against the "big boys". We did NOT play one of the "big boys". We played the Cleveland Browns, and BOB had a good game plan to beat the Cleveland Browns. You don't think if we were playing one of the high-powered offenses like the Pats, Chiefs or Steelers... BOB would have had a different game plan and been more aggressive offensively?

BTW, I think we were too aggressive on defense, which caused those chunk plays. If we played more conservatively on defense, then we would have been playing more prevent, and keeping those plays in front of us.

13 points did raise their average against these mobile QBs from 12.0 to 12.16, so yeah, it looks like they've been exposed.

I don’t want to rely on my rookie to make miracles every play..... lets keep plays in front of US AT THE LEAST
LMAO!! You don't want to rely on people making plays? That's the very definition of being good, SOMEBODY MAKING PLAYS.

I think I'd be more worried about the offense scoring 1 TD and kicking 5 FGs instead of making up crap about the defense sucking against mobile QBs.
