Who do you think will be our 2nd pick?

That is the question, and I think that is a more uncertain pick than our #1. And all the mock drafts I've seen have been inconsistent, except for the fact that is will be an Olineman (obviously).

So who's it going to be? I think it's a given that DBrick and Winston Justice will be picked up by the time our turn comes around. And given that this is supposed to be a good draft for OT, I think another top OT will be picked up as well.

So I think by the time our turn comes, our options at OT would be Jon Scott, Eric Winston, Marcus Mcneill, and Andrew Whitworth. 1 of these guys will be picked up by the time our turn comes for sure. Who do you guys like?

Another interesting pick up would be Mangold at center, a guy we might be able to trade up for. I think he's really become a viable option after seeing Pitts handle things at the LT spot. But at the same time it kinda creates an awkward position for us with the emergence of Hogdgen. An OT really makes much more sense in terms of team needs.

I personnally think we should be looking for the best Olineman we can get that's available to us, no matter weather it is a center or a tackle. If Mangold is really the player people are saying he is, and if he's better than the OTs remaining, I say draft him. Mostly because I really like Pitts at LT. Many people say that he's not our long-term solution at LT, but based on his performance in the 2nd half of the season, I don't really understand why. I though he did a really good job against Dwight Freeny, the best pass rusher in the game. And it wasn't like he was anything special playing guard (maybe just because the position is less noticeable), just let the man play LT! And I'm not convinced we can get a guy that could come in and do better either.

I personally believe that we should sit and wait with the pick in the second round. We don't need to trade up for anybody. Take the best player that is there at #33.

Our second pick will depend on many factors.

If we stay at 1 and pick Reggie Bush then we will probably go for the best available lineman. But if we pick up an adequate lineman in FA, then we will probably go a different route.

If there is a sure-fire can't miss prospect who falls to us at 33 (there is always someone who falls) then we might consider them if they fill some need of ours.

Yeah, we know Cass and his trading up with 2nd round picks. And it's not like we have anything to trade with anyway. And given the fact that we have the 1st pick of every round in a pretty good draft class, our picks are way too valuable right now.

at pick #33, in order:

Ko Simpson - regardless of first round and who else is there.
Nick Mangold - depending on first round pick
Eric Winston - depending on first round pick
Tamba Hali - assuming we dont take Mario
A. Cromatine (sp) - If all of the above players are taken

After Eric Winston's combine I doubt he lasts until #33, but if he does he would definitely be my top option there. Nick Mangold might have also secured a 1st round pick for himself, but if he falls to #33 and Winston isn't there, then Mangold would definitely be my pick. Other than those two guys, I'm not real high on the other OTs that would likely be there. If Leonard Pope is available at #33, he would be my next choice after Winston and Mangold. Marcus McNeill and Daryn Colledge would both be decent picks, but I would prefer someone else at #33 depending on who is available and depending on what we do in the 1st round. Jonathan Scott should not be picked at #33, he's not worth that high of a pick, and Andrew Whitworth is also definitely not worth that high of a pick, plus he will likely last until #65. Whitworth and McNeill might not be that good of a fit for our blocking scheme anyways. If we go with Bush in the 1st round, I think we would likely go defense at #33 if Winston, Mangold, and Pope aren't available, either the best CB or DE available.

Chris Chester would be a nice pick and will definitely be available at #97, and maybe even at #129. He is a OG/C, weighs just over 300 lbs. and put up an impressive combine athletically-speaking. I think he would be a great fit for a zone-blocking scheme and we should be able to get him in the 4th round, maybe even the 5th, so I'm not in a big hurry to draft an interior OLineman high in the draft, unless Mangold falls to #33. I think Eric Winston would definitely be worth the #33 pick, I would take Marcus McNeill, Daryn Colledge, or Jonathan Scott at #65 if any of them somehow fall (I doubt any of them would other than maybe Scott), but I don't know that I'd take any of them at #33. I would probably take Whitworth at #65/66 depending on what we do earlier in the draft and what other players are available.

I Think we are gonna take a O-Lineman with our 2nd pick, unless for some odd reason they pick Ferguson with the first then it will more than likely be TE or DB.

Greg Eslinger and if not, one of the safeties

Mangold or Eslinger.

No way Eslinger goes at #33, he is not worth that high of a pick and will be available at #65 if we really like him. Our 2nd round pick really depends on what we do in the 1st round, and what players are available at #33 (there should be a lot of good players left since this draft has 40-50 guys that ordinarily would be 1st round picks). Nick Mangold, Eric Winston, or Leonard Pope would all be awesome picks there if any of them fall, but I doubt any of them will. Outside of that, if we go Reggie Bush (or any other offensive player) in the 1st round, I think we go defense at #33 (best CB or DE), while if we go Mario Williams (or any other defensive player, but we better go for Mario if we do go after a defender) in the 1st round then we will go offense at #33 (best OL or TE).

Mork I like your guys but I have to add Jonathan Joseph who I think is a bigger D-Rob and likely gonna be a first rounder now. Hopefully we trade down with Packers or Jets and get 06 2nd and 07 2nd in order to get Mario Williams. Yeah I will take less to get the best player in the draft.

all of these are assuming we end up not moving down and taking reggie bush number one overall

1. eric winston- simply put we need more lineman
2. ko simpson- knowing how mcnair feels about his gamecocks
3. nick mangold- if this kid falls to our laps in round 2 it would be hard to pass
4. leonard pope- kid has exceptional size and talent
5. jonathan joseph- really any of the top 10 corners if they are available
6. d'quell jackson- we need a MLB

This first pick in the second round might be more marketable than the first overall pick. Teams wouldnt have to give up as much and could find a player they love falling to the second round and would want to trade up to get him. I say we should look and see who is there, and weigh the offers, if we could trade down a few spots and still get the guy we really want, and pick up more picks (possibly a third this year and next) we should defiently do it.

It realy depends on who falls to me if its Kiwi, Eric Winston, Ko Simpson or a few others I would just take them.

heres the thing.. i'm a big fan in trading down to get ferguson.. i hope nick mangold C from ohio state is available.. thats my pick... Ferguson and Mangold, the o-line for the future

I think Bush/Ferguson in the 1st round (I really doubt at this point that we're looking at Ferguson either at #1 or trading to get him) would mean defense at #33, probably a DE or maybe a CB (Tamba Hali, Mathias Kiwanuka, Johnathan Joseph, etc.)

I think Mario in the 1st round (at #1 or trade down) means offense at #33, probably the best OLineman available (hopefully Eric Winston but I doubt it, then hopefully Mangold but I'm not sure he falls either) or maybe a TE if one of the big three falls (Davis, Pope, or Lewis, no way Davis falls but there is a very slight chance one of the others could, but I still doubt that).
