Post-Combine/Pre-Free Agency Mock with Options

MorKnolle

All Pro
In this last quiet day before free agency opens and many rosters are turned upside down and drastically changes the rest of the offseason outlook, I thought I'd throw out a version of a mock draft that looks at the needs of the teams and a couple possible picks at each position. This mock assumes that no further trades will be made and obviously cannot predict potential free agency moves, so I will likely be updating it within a couple weeks after many of the free agency moves are figured out. I went thru the first two rounds, so for now enjoy this look at the draft and leave any comments you may have before the impending insanity starts in 24 hours (as a side note, I got the order for the 2nd round off of NFLDraftCountdown.com, I'm not sure why it's any different than the order in the 1st round and I've seen the same order on some other sites, so that's what I used for the 2nd round order).

All Pro
1. Houston Texans - Possibilities - Reggie Bush, Mario Williams, Vince Young, D'Brickashaw Ferguson - Mario is a slight possibility at #1, but Reggie and Vince are more likely at #1, while Mario is likely the target if they trade down. For this scenario, they'll take Bush at #1.

2. New Orleans Saints - Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler - Sean Payton is rumored to like Jay Cutler a lot, but I think they'll stick with Leinart. There really isn't much else to consider with the Saints as they've said they are looking for a QB.

3. Tennessee Titans - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Vince Young, Jay Cutler - The Titans are looking for McNair's future replacement, but D'Brickashaw is another distinct possibility to improve their OLine, especially with the apparent recent drop in Vince's draft stock.

4. New York Jets - Jay Cutler, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Mario Williams, Vince Young - The Jets are very likely to release Pennington since it doesn't look like they'll be able to re-do his contract, and his health was a bit of a concern anyways. They could look at Ferguson to help their OLine assuming the Titans don't take him, and if they trade Abraham they could look for Mario Williams, but I'm pretty sure they will stick with grabbing a new QB to lead their offense, and I think they'll take the more-ready Cutler over Vince.

5. Green Bay Packers - Mario Williams, A.J. Hawk, DeAngelo Williams, LenDale White - The Packers could look for DeAngelo or LenDale to replace Ahman Green if he gets released, but I think they'll look to continue fixing up their defense. Great DEs are always more valuable than great LBs, and Mario is easily a better prospect than Hawk, so I think they'll add Mario to their DLine to play opposite KGB.

6. San Francisco 49ers - Michael Huff, Vernon Davis, A.J. Hawk, DeAngelo Williams, Haloti Ngata - Haloti would be a possibility as a monster NT for their 3-4 defense, and DeAngelo is also a slight possibility as an upgrade at RB, although Gore is a decent RB. A.J. Hawk will definitely be a consideration as a solid LB in their 3-4, but I think with Michael Huff and Vernon Davis' performances at the Combine the decision will come down to one of them. Vernon Davis looks like a great TE that would be a very nice option for Alex Smith, although Eric Johnson is a pretty good TE when healthy, and at this moment I think they'll take Huff to boost their secondary and help that league-worst pass defense.

7. Oakland Raiders - Vernon Davis, A.J. Hawk, Haloti Ngata - The Raiders will consider Hawk and Ngata to help their defense out, but the opportunity to add a great TE in Vernon Davis would be too much if he gets past the 49ers.

8. Buffalo Bills - Haloti Ngata, A.J. Hawk, Jimmy Williams - These are three of the four best players remaining (with Vince Young) and would all help one area of their defense, but with this group of guys left I think they'll go with Haloti Ngata to help fill the large gap in the middle of their defensive line that was left by the departed Sam Adams and Pat Williams over the last two offseasons.

9. Detroit Lions - A.J. Hawk, Jimmy Williams, Vince Young, Santonio Holmes - Holmes was added as somewhat of a joke since they've developed a recent habit of taking WRs in the 1st round, although he would provide a smaller, faster option at WR for them. Vince will be an option, but I don't think he fits Martz's pass-heavy offense overly well and I think he'll prefer to give Harrington one more chance. Jimmy Williams and A.J. Hawk are left as the top remaining options to help their defense, and Hawk is the better option for them and ends up falling to where the first LB usually goes.

10. Arizona Cardinals - Vince Young, Jimmy Williams, Winston Justice, Eric Winston, DeAngelo Williams, Chad Greenway - The Cardinals could use some help at LB or in the secondary, but Williams and Greenway aren't quite worth this high of a pick. They could certainly use some help on the OLine and Winston Justice and now Eric Winston will definitely warrant consideration to improve their bad OLine, and DeAngelo Williams has an outside chance of being picked to boost their RB position. However, I think they will go with Vince Young if he's available, as they recently signed Warner to an extension and can afford to let Vince sit for a year or two to learn and improve his game, and he's got a trio of nice WRs to throw to once he's ready.

11. St. Louis Rams - Jimmy Williams, Chad Greenway, Mathias Kiwanuka, Winston Justice, Eric Winston, Brodrick Bunkley - The Rams could use some help at LB, on their DLine and could also use some help on their OLine, but they do have a big hole in their secondary and Jimmy Williams is the best available pick for them here.

12. Cleveland Browns - Chad Greenway, Brodrick Bunkley, Manny Lawson, LenDale White, Winston Justice, Eric Winston, Tye Hill - The Browns could use the huge and athletic Bunkley to beef up their DLine, or look for a CB which would likely point to Tye Hill at this point. Their OLine could use some help from Justice or Winston, but I think they will look at LB, leading them to Manny Lawson as an OLB or Chad Greenway to play any LB spot in their 3-4, and I think Greenway would get the call here.

13. Baltimore Ravens - LenDale White, Brodrick Bunkley, DeAngelo Williams, Tamba Hali - They could maybe look for a strong-side DE, but I think they'd more likely look for a good DT over DE. However, with the likely departure of Jamal Lewis, I think they'll look to replace him, and I think LenDale White fits their team a little better than DeAngelo Williams does.

14. Philadelphia Eagles - Santonio Holmes, Chad Jackson, Brodrick Bunkley, Winston Justice, Eric Winston - The Eagles could look for youthful talent on their OLine or for some serious beef on their DLine, but their need for a WR in the wake of T.O.'s departure will prevail, and I think Santonio is currently still the top option here.

15. Atlanta Falcons - Brodrick Bunkley, Tye Hill, DeAngelo Williams, LenDale White, Tamba Hali - The Falcons could definitely look for a RB if they are forced to release Warrick Dunn. They could definitely use another CB, but Tye Hill is the only viable option at this point in the draft and two small, very fast CBs will be enticing but I think they'll take Bunkley and add some serious meat up front on their DLine.

16. Miami Dolphins - Eric Winston, Winston Justice, Tye Hill, Chad Jackson - The Dolphins are definitely looking for a QB this year but with the big three off the board they better hope they get one in free agency. They could use another DLineman for their 3-4 defense, but with Bunkley gone that isn't a great option here. Tye Hill will be a serious consideration with the release of Sam Madison, and Chad Jackson will also warrant a long look. However, I think they'll look to improve their OLine, and with his strong Combine I think they'll take the University of Miami stud in Eric Winston over USC's Winston Justice.

17. Minnesota Vikings - DeAngelo Williams, Laurence Maroney, Winston
Justice, Mathias Kiwanuka, Tamba Hali - The Vikings are in a bit of a precarious situation as there aren't many solid picks here at positions of need. Winston Justice would be an option to help their OLine and Tamba Hali or Mathias Kiwanuka would both be options at DE. They have a lot of money available, so they could make a major run at one of the great RBs in free agency, but until that happens I think RB will be their top priority in the draft and it will come down to U of Minnesota's Laurence Maroney or DeAngelo Williams, and I think DeAngelo is a little more solid of a runner which is what they've been lacking for years, so he gets the nod.

18. Dallas Cowboys - Chad Jackson, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson, Manny Lawson, Abdul Hodge, Winston Justice - The Cowboys could use some OLine
help, although I think interior OLine is more of a concern and I don't see any of those guys being worth this pick. Darnell Bing and Ko Simpson will be decent options to improve their S position, but neither is worth this high of a pick. Abdul Hodge would be a decent option at ILB and Manny Lawson will be a decent option at OLB, but I think Chad Jacskon would be too much to resist in upgrading their receiving core with a great young talent.

19. San Diego Chargers - Tye Hill, Winston Justice, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson. The Chargers are in a similar situation to the Vikings, but their main weakness is in their secondary. They had the #1 defense against the run but were 28th against the pass. While Darnell Bing and Ko Simpson will be considered, I think Tye Hill will be their pick to provide a smaller, very fast CB to complement the bigger Quentin Jammer.

20. Kansas City Chiefs - Gabe Watson, Winston Justice, Sinorice Moss,
Jonathan Joseph - The Chiefs may need to upgrade their aging OLine, especially if they lose some guys to the salary cap. WR and CB are also areas of some concern, but I don't think any of the remaining guys will be worth this high of a pick. In the end I think they could take a chance on the next best DT in the draft and grab Gabe Watson, although he is also a bit of a reach here.

21. New England Patriots - Manny Lawson, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson, Laurence Maroney - The Patriots will consider some help at S or maybe even look for Maroney at RB, but I think Manny Lawson will be too much to resist after his strong Combine and since the Patriots love those DE/OLB tweeners, and he has the size and athleticism to be a nice pass-rushing specialist in the mold of Willie McGinest.

22. Denver Broncos - Mathias Kiwanuka, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson, Sinorice Moss, Tamba Hali - The Broncos will be looking to improve their DLine with some more athleticism, and they could also look for another WR or S. I think if the Broncos do not acquire John Abraham or another similar DE in free agency, I think they'll look for the best athletic DE in the draft at #22.

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Winston Justice, Abdul Hodge, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson, Max Jean-Gilles, Nick Mangold. The Bucs could use some help and youth at several areas, but with Eric Winston gone I think they'll take Winston Justice to help out their OLine.

24. Cincinnati Bengals - Leonard Pope, Jonathan Joseph, Jason Allen, D'Qwell Jackson - The Bengals definitely need some help in the middle of their DLine to improve their run defense, but none of the remaining ones will be worth this pick. Jonathan Joseph will be an option at CB, and Jason Allen will be an option as a CB/S. D'Qwell Jackson might receive some considerations at LB, but I think they'll take Leonard Pope to give them a very good option at TE, which was about their only area of need on offense.

25. New York Giants - Abdul Hodge, Demeco Ryans, D'Qwell Jackson, Jonathan Joseph, Marcus McNeill - The Giants need some help at LB probably more than anything else on their team, so it will come down to a decision between the top LBs remaining, although CB and OLine will receive a little consideration too.

26. Chicago Bears - Marcedes Lewis, Marcus McNeill, Max Jean-Gilles, Jonathan Joseph - The Bears have few needs on defense, maybe a better CB
to shut down the likes of Steve Smith. I think they'll focus on bringing their offense up to par with their defense, and OLine will receive some consideration, but I think Marcedes Lewis could be their pick. I don't think he's really worthy of quite this high of a pick, but TE is definitely an area of need for them to get another target for their young QBs.

27. Carolina Panthers - Sinorice Moss, Laurence Maroney, D'Qwell Jackson, Bobby Carpenter - TE and DT are probably their biggest areas of
need, but neither of those positions have a guy that is worth this high of a pick. Laurence Maroney will definitely be an interesting consideration for them, and D'Qwell Jackson or Bobby Carpenter could also be an option. I think their biggest need is adding another receiving threat to get attention away from Steve Smith, and with the top three TEs gone I think they could look at WR. Sinorice Moss is a similar type playmaker to Steve Smith, and while they could use a bigger possession-type WR Moss is too much of a talent to avoid at this spot if they're looking at WR. I'll be the first to admit this is a bit of a questionable pick though.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars - Ko Simpson, Darnell Bing, Laurence Maroney,
Jonathan Joseph - OLine will be a bit of a target for the Jaguars, and their secondary will also be a key area of concern. Laurence Maroney would also receive a long look if Fred Taylor's future is in question. I think Ko Simpson and Darnell Bing will be the two finalist for this draft pick.

29. Denver Broncos - Darnell Bing, Laurence Maroney, Maurice Stovall - The Broncos could be looking for an additional RB after releasing Mike Anderson, but they have not picked on in the 1st round since Shanahan came to the team, but it would be interesting to see what Maroney could do in their system. However, John Lynch is getting old and the Broncos could use another another quality player at that position, and Darnell Bing would be a solid addition if he lasts this far.

30. Indianapolis Colts - Laurence Maroney, Bobby Carpenter, D'Qwell Jackson, Marcus McNeill, Jonathan Joseph - The COlts could be looking to fill some holes on defense, especially if they have to release a lot of guys in the coming weeks. They could maybe use an upgrade on their OLine as well, but with Edgerrin James departure they will really be looking for a RB. Maroney would be a great fit for their system, and if he falls this far I don't see them passing him up.

31. Seattle seahawks - Maurice Stovall, Bobby Carpenter, D'Qwell Jackson, Tamba Hali - They could use some more talent on defense, especially with Jaime Sharper's departure. However, WR is probably a bigger need for them, and although Maurice Stovall is a bit of a reach for the end of the 1st round, he's still a pretty solid pick and could provide a nice addition to their offense.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Nick Mangold, Jonathan Joseph, Elvis Dumurville - The Steelers will need to look at WR if Randle El leaves, but there aren't any worthy ones at this point. They could look for another OLB pass rusher for their 3-4 defense, but I think Nick Mangold would be a solid pick to improve their OLine and replace the aging Jeff Hartings.

you need to flip Eric Winston with Marcus McNeil. I would rather go for a MLB like D'Qwell Jackson with the Texans 2nd pick rather than another CB & if the Texans traded down why would D'Brick not be the target? Young slipping to #10? even by the Raiders who are in dire need of a QB & invested all that money & picks on Moss.......... Elvis over Hali? I gotta stop your killing me :goodnight

not a bad mock just 1 thing that bothered me- the picks in the 2nd round change cos they all finished with the same record. anyway you have the rams possibly taking a LT- ever heard of orlando pace?

also i doubt ernie sims or demeco ryans fall that far

dont like taking JJ with #33

There is no way Marcus McNeill is the 2nd OT off the board. As of now Eric Winston is the 2nd best OT and should be gone in the top 20, maybe even top 15, Winston Justice might pass him up with a strong pro day, but McNeill won't come close.

I am personally not very impressed with D'Qwell Jackson and I think LB is a position that it will be hard to draft for this year with the contracts of some of our guys there, and Jonathan Joseph's stock is quickly rising after a strong Combine.

I am also not overly impressed with D'Brick. He is the best OT in this draft, but DE is our biggest single need with our switch to a 4-3 and Mario is my favorite prospect in this whole draft. He could easily be as good as Julius Peppers, and that kind of talent is rare. I would be willing to take him at #1, but if they decide he is who they want they should take the best deal they can get to move down to #4 or maybe #5 and take him there since the top 3-4 picks should be a combination of Bush, Leinart, Cutler, Ferguson, or Young.

I think with all the recent things that have been happening to Vince, as of right now he would fall to #10. His pro day can change that positively or negatively, and I've seen a few mocks now where he falls out of the 1st round entirely. I don't think that will happen, but I'm not the Raiders would take Vince over Vernon Davis, and I'm not even sure the Cards would take Vince, but at least they have the luxury of sitting him behind a 2-time MVP for a year or two.

Elvis Dumervil was drafted by the 49ers in this scenario to play OLB in their 3-4, I think he would be a better fit for that than Tamba Hali would, plus to this point in time Tamba has done nothing to show his skills.

As I said with the 2nd round picks, NFLDraftCountdown and a couple other sites have those picks in that order so that's what I used. I don't really know if they'd switch around or why, but that's how I saw them.

I'm not sure Ryans will fall that far, but I can see Ernie Sims dropping. I think both could be higher picks, but when I worked this draft out that's just where they ended up.

Joseph is very similar to Dunta Robinson and we took him at #10 two years ago. Joseph would be a nice addition to our defense to replace Philip Buchanon that everyone has been wanting to replace. I'm also not especially fond of taking him here, but I like him over any OL or DE prospect that was available here, if Mangold, Justice, or Winston fell then I'd happily take them, and I'm still hoping they'll trade down and grab Mario at #4/5 and have either another high 2nd rounder out of it or even an extra 1st rounder like #22 from the Jets if they trade Abraham to the Broncos for that pick.

What I would really love to see happen is for the Jets to trade John Abraham to the Broncos for the #22 pick, then we send the #1 and #66 to the Jets for the #4, #22, #35, and next years' 2nd rounder. Then the draft looks something like this (using the same mock draft format with virtually the same picks by every other team):

1. New York Jets - Matt Leinart, QB, USC
2. New Orleans Saints - Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt
3. Tennessee Titans - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia
4. Houston Texans - Mario Wiliams, DE, N.C. State
5. Green Bay Packers - Reggie Bush, RB, USC
6. San Francisco 49ers - Michael Huff, CB/S, Texas
7. Oakland Raiders - Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland
8. Buffalo Bills - Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon
9. Detroit Lions - A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio St.
10. Arizona Cardinals - Vince Young, QB, Texas
11. St. Louis Rams - Jimmy Williams, CB/S. Virginia Tech
12. Cleveland Browns - Chad Greenway, LB, Iowa
13. Baltimore Ravens - LenDale White, RB, USC
14. Philadelphia Eagles - Santonio Holmes, WR, Ohio St.
15. Atlanta Falcons - Brodrick Bunkley, DT, Florida St.
16. Miami Dolphins - Winston Justice, OT, USC
17. Minnesota Vikings - DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis
18. Dallas Cowboys - Chad Jackson, WR, Florida
19. San Diego Chargers - Tye Hill, CB, Clemson
20. Kansas City Chiefs - Gabe Watson, DT, Michigan
21. New England Patriots - Manny Lawson, OLB (DE), N.C. State
22. Houston Texans - Eric Winston, OT, Miami
23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Antonio Cromartie, CB, Florida St.
24. Cincinnati Bengals - Leonard Pope, TE, Georgia
25. New York Giants - Abdul Hodge, LB, Iowa
26. Chicago Bears - Marcedes Lewis, TE, UCLA
27. Carolina Panthers - Sinorice Moss, WR, Miami
28. Jacksonville Jaguars - Ko Simpson, S, South Carolina
29. Denver Broncos - Darnell Bing, S, USC
30. Indianapolis Colts - Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota
31. Seattle Seahawks - Maurice Stovall, WR, Notre Dame
32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Nick Mangold, C, Ohio St.
33. Houston Texans - Jonathan Joseph, CB, South Carolina
34. New Orleans Saints - D'Qwell Jackson, LB, Maryland
35. Houston Texans - Dominique Byrd, TE, USC
36. Green Bay Packers - Bobby Carpenter, LB, Ohio St.
37. San Francisco 49ers - Elvis Dumervil, DE/OLB, Louisville
38. Oakland Raiders - Tamba Hali, DE, Penn St.
39. Tennessee Titans - Omar Jacobs, QB, Bowling Green

97. Houston Texans - Chris Chester, OG/C, Oklahoma
129. Houston Texans - Terna Nande, LB, Miami OH
161. Houston Texans - BPA of LB/S/WR depending on earlier picks
193. Houston Texans - BPA of LB/S/WR depending on earlier picks

Without making the trade we get:
RB - Reggie Bush, USC
CB - Jonathan Joseph, S. Carolina
DE - Ray Edwards (Purdue), Victor Adeyanju (Indiana), or Kamerion Wimbley (Florida St.)
TE - Joe Klopfenstein (Colorado) or Anthony Fasano (Notre Dame)
OG/C - Chris Chester, OG/C, Oklahoma
S - Donte Whitner (Ohio St.) or Pat Watkins (Florida St.) or LB - Terna Nande (Miami OH)
BPA at 161 & 193

With making the trade we get:
DE - Mario Williams, N.C. State
OT - Eric Winston, Miami (or Winston Justice if the Dolphins take Eric Winston as in my first version of the mock)
CB - Jonathan Joseph, S. Carolina
TE - Dominique Byrd, USC
S - Greg Blue, Georgia
OG/C - Chris Chester, Oklahoma
LB - Terna Nande, Miami OH
BPA at 161 & 193
Jets 2nd round pick next year

I would much prefer the scenario with the trade, but I don't know if that will happen.

Mork it is an interesting draft and I think the possibles that you have listed are on. i would make a couple of switches.

1. Mario Williams has to be our guy, I know Bush is special, but a 6'7" 295 4.65-4.7 running 35 time lifting, 40 inch and 9+ jumping dominator of drills DE is just my pick regardless. That is what you call RARE. RARE beats Special to me.
2. Jets just restructured Pennington so they will likely go Mario or D'Brick depending on things likely D'Brick.
3. VY falling to 10 is impressive and I think probably right on, he has been overtaken by Cutler and his passing will do nothing to bring him back up.
4. Cleveland is taking Lawson, no way Romeo lets Lawson get by his combine solidified this pick
5. The SD pick is right on they will take Tye Hill and move my boy Sammy DAvis back to FS he is likely better suited there anyway.
6. Obviously since Manny would be gone I see NE taking Greenway but I would be hard pressed to see the Broncos take Darnell Bing. He is a hitter and they already have a rookie in Ferguson and Lynch was resigned they will likely go O-line or take a LB with that second pick
7. You were on the right track with the Seahawks and I think they will take defense and it will be Carpenter or Hali, Hali would be my pick there because they will try and replace Bernard's sack totals with a rookie DE.
8. Pitt takes Mangold only if something with Hartings changes if not I think they take Stovall or Moss even though I think Stovall could end up with Carolina to replace the departing Randle El
9. Best pick in your whole draft is us getting JJ at 33 he is a first rounder easy at almost 6 feet and 200 lbs and runs a 4.31 and loves to hit the guy can play either FS or CB for us and be a welcome addition with Dunta would give us one of the most physical CB tandems in the league
10. The second round is pretty solid even though Dumerville will not go that high to SF they will find someone else there not sure who but will get at you and let you know. Also Ryans and Sims likely wont fall that far in the second they would be up there near the top, but I do think they will hit the second round. Ryans is a good football player, but his measurables are not there and Sims is a tweener LB/SS and he will likely look pretty good to possibly the Niners who could play him at ILB or SS to improve the overall of that defense.

A few things I noticed that I see differently...

- Donte Whitner will not fall to 129, I have seen him as high as mid 20's...
- With your trade option I dont think its smart to take Byrd over Hali...we need to bring in some DE
- Im not opposed to bringing in another CB early as in JJ, but if we take Bush @ 1, and no OL or DL in the first 2 rounds it wouldnt be smart.
- Im big on Ray Edwards so I think thats a good pick.

And then on to the last posters comments

- I agree I want Mario as well, may not be the optimum choice at 1, but I believe he is worth it.
- I dont know if Cleveland will automatically take Lawson if Ngata happens to slide to them, I think that would be the more automatic choice

And then on to the last posters comments

- I agree I want Mario as well, may not be the optimum choice at 1, but I believe he is worth it.
- I dont know if Cleveland will automatically take Lawson if Ngata happens to slide to them, I think that would be the more automatic choice
I see what you're saying on most of your points. I haven't seen Whitner in the 1st round anywhere, I don't think he'd last as long as I had him lasting, but he would definitely be a guy I'd get at that pick. With making that trade, we're already bringing in Mario Williams, so I don't see us grabbing Tamba Hali as well. I think Mario at strong-side DE and then a rotation of Peek and Babin at weak-side DE would be ample.

Of the TEs in the draft, there are only four that I'm really fond of at all. Vernon Davis obviously isn't going to be one of our picks unless we trade down too far and get stuck with him or just go crazy and pick him in the 1st. He's a great TE but I think it would be foolish for us to take him with our top pick. Leonard Pope would be great. If we somehow did get #22 from the Jets I wouldn't mind taking Pope there, and definitely wouldn't mind taking him at the top of the 2nd round. I'm not real high on MArcedes Lewis, if we had two 2nd round picks I'd take him with one of them but if we keep our draft picks how they currently are I probably wouldn't take him at #33. Dominique Byrd is the only other guy that I like that much and see as a pretty sizable upgrade over what we currently have. I don't know if he'll last to #65, but if he does I'd love to get him there. Taking him that high in the 2nd round is a bit of a reach, but if we have the #4, #22, #33, and #35 picks I wouldn't mind taking him at #35. After that, I don't think I'd take any of the remaining TEs even at #66 as I think we can get one just about as good at #97 and find better uses for #65 and #66, although I think the Texans will feel obligated to get a TE on the 1st day unless they pick up a good FA.

I definitely agree on the OLine thing, my only issue with it is with the way my mock ended up I'd rather have Joseph than any of the OLinemen available there. If Eric Winston or Winston Justice somehow fell to #33 (I don't see either of them possibly doing that) or Nick Mangold (he could fall, but I think he could go in the 1st and in my mock he did), I would definitely take one of them there. I'm not as sold on Marcus McNeill, Daryn Colledge, or any of the other OTs that were left and I don't see any of the interior OLinemen being worth that pick unless Nick Mangold falls. I think we can get Chris Chester in the 4th round and I think he'd be great in our zone blocking scheme, he still weighed just over 300 lbs. but was in the top 3-4 in every OLine drill at the combine, including running a 4.88 40, which is pretty impressive for a 3-biller. Davin Joseph and Greg Eslinger would be nice picks at #65/66 and I think either one would do well for us, but I wouldn't pick either of them at #33. We definitely need OLine help, but the top guys won't likely be around at #33 and many of the other guys that might not be rated as well but would fit our system better will likely be available in the 3rd round. I see Johnathan Joseph as basically a bigger Dunta Robinson, they both went to South Carolina, they both play a very similar style of defense, and Joseph put up a very impressive Combine to raise his draft stock, just like Dunta did, but there is a much deeper draft this year so he could fall to #33 (there is still a good chance he will go in the 1st round anyways) and I definitely wouldn't mind having a second D-Rob out there rather than Buchanon/Faggins.

I'm not a real big fan of Ray Edwards, he'd be a decent strong-side DE for us but I don't think he'll be anything great, but I'll try to load the Combine clips of him and find some other tape on him and check up on him again and see if my opinions change at all.

As I said, I see your perspective and agree with much of what you're getting at, but I think with the way this draft and our team are things won't end up working out as well as I had hoped a few weeks ago (i.e. up until the Senior Bowl I was hoping for Eric Winston at #33 and Nick Mangold at #65, but neither of those will happen).

Whitner is a late 1st/early 2nd rd prospect

he has jumped ko simpson and is now the #2 rated safety on most draft websites

mor, been listening to sirius radio and the scouting reports from different teams have ur man from miami, eric winston, falling to mid 2....mostly uncooperative attitude to coaches from what is being said....i don't know just repeating what scouts r saying maybe trying to push stock down so they can draft him some teams do that

1. Mario Williams has to be our guy, I know Bush is special, but a 6'7" 295 4.65-4.7 running 35 time lifting, 40 inch and 9+ jumping dominator of drills DE is just my pick regardless. That is what you call RARE. RARE beats Special to me.
We march to the same kazoo.
