1. Houston Texans - Possibilities - Reggie Bush, Mario Williams, Vince Young, D'Brickashaw Ferguson - Mario is a slight possibility at #1, but Reggie and Vince are more likely at #1, while Mario is likely the target if they trade down. For this scenario, they'll take Bush at #1.
2. New Orleans Saints - Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler - Sean Payton is rumored to like Jay Cutler a lot, but I think they'll stick with Leinart. There really isn't much else to consider with the Saints as they've said they are looking for a QB.
3. Tennessee Titans - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Vince Young, Jay Cutler - The Titans are looking for McNair's future replacement, but D'Brickashaw is another distinct possibility to improve their OLine, especially with the apparent recent drop in Vince's draft stock.
4. New York Jets - Jay Cutler, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Mario Williams, Vince Young - The Jets are very likely to release Pennington since it doesn't look like they'll be able to re-do his contract, and his health was a bit of a concern anyways. They could look at Ferguson to help their OLine assuming the Titans don't take him, and if they trade Abraham they could look for Mario Williams, but I'm pretty sure they will stick with grabbing a new QB to lead their offense, and I think they'll take the more-ready Cutler over Vince.
5. Green Bay Packers - Mario Williams, A.J. Hawk, DeAngelo Williams, LenDale White - The Packers could look for DeAngelo or LenDale to replace Ahman Green if he gets released, but I think they'll look to continue fixing up their defense. Great DEs are always more valuable than great LBs, and Mario is easily a better prospect than Hawk, so I think they'll add Mario to their DLine to play opposite KGB.
6. San Francisco 49ers - Michael Huff, Vernon Davis, A.J. Hawk, DeAngelo Williams, Haloti Ngata - Haloti would be a possibility as a monster NT for their 3-4 defense, and DeAngelo is also a slight possibility as an upgrade at RB, although Gore is a decent RB. A.J. Hawk will definitely be a consideration as a solid LB in their 3-4, but I think with Michael Huff and Vernon Davis' performances at the Combine the decision will come down to one of them. Vernon Davis looks like a great TE that would be a very nice option for Alex Smith, although Eric Johnson is a pretty good TE when healthy, and at this moment I think they'll take Huff to boost their secondary and help that league-worst pass defense.
7. Oakland Raiders - Vernon Davis, A.J. Hawk, Haloti Ngata - The Raiders will consider Hawk and Ngata to help their defense out, but the opportunity to add a great TE in Vernon Davis would be too much if he gets past the 49ers.
8. Buffalo Bills - Haloti Ngata, A.J. Hawk, Jimmy Williams - These are three of the four best players remaining (with Vince Young) and would all help one area of their defense, but with this group of guys left I think they'll go with Haloti Ngata to help fill the large gap in the middle of their defensive line that was left by the departed Sam Adams and Pat Williams over the last two offseasons.
9. Detroit Lions - A.J. Hawk, Jimmy Williams, Vince Young, Santonio Holmes - Holmes was added as somewhat of a joke since they've developed a recent habit of taking WRs in the 1st round, although he would provide a smaller, faster option at WR for them. Vince will be an option, but I don't think he fits Martz's pass-heavy offense overly well and I think he'll prefer to give Harrington one more chance. Jimmy Williams and A.J. Hawk are left as the top remaining options to help their defense, and Hawk is the better option for them and ends up falling to where the first LB usually goes.
10. Arizona Cardinals - Vince Young, Jimmy Williams, Winston Justice, Eric Winston, DeAngelo Williams, Chad Greenway - The Cardinals could use some help at LB or in the secondary, but Williams and Greenway aren't quite worth this high of a pick. They could certainly use some help on the OLine and Winston Justice and now Eric Winston will definitely warrant consideration to improve their bad OLine, and DeAngelo Williams has an outside chance of being picked to boost their RB position. However, I think they will go with Vince Young if he's available, as they recently signed Warner to an extension and can afford to let Vince sit for a year or two to learn and improve his game, and he's got a trio of nice WRs to throw to once he's ready.
11. St. Louis Rams - Jimmy Williams, Chad Greenway, Mathias Kiwanuka, Winston Justice, Eric Winston, Brodrick Bunkley - The Rams could use some help at LB, on their DLine and could also use some help on their OLine, but they do have a big hole in their secondary and Jimmy Williams is the best available pick for them here.
12. Cleveland Browns - Chad Greenway, Brodrick Bunkley, Manny Lawson, LenDale White, Winston Justice, Eric Winston, Tye Hill - The Browns could use the huge and athletic Bunkley to beef up their DLine, or look for a CB which would likely point to Tye Hill at this point. Their OLine could use some help from Justice or Winston, but I think they will look at LB, leading them to Manny Lawson as an OLB or Chad Greenway to play any LB spot in their 3-4, and I think Greenway would get the call here.
13. Baltimore Ravens - LenDale White, Brodrick Bunkley, DeAngelo Williams, Tamba Hali - They could maybe look for a strong-side DE, but I think they'd more likely look for a good DT over DE. However, with the likely departure of Jamal Lewis, I think they'll look to replace him, and I think LenDale White fits their team a little better than DeAngelo Williams does.
14. Philadelphia Eagles - Santonio Holmes, Chad Jackson, Brodrick Bunkley, Winston Justice, Eric Winston - The Eagles could look for youthful talent on their OLine or for some serious beef on their DLine, but their need for a WR in the wake of T.O.'s departure will prevail, and I think Santonio is currently still the top option here.
15. Atlanta Falcons - Brodrick Bunkley, Tye Hill, DeAngelo Williams, LenDale White, Tamba Hali - The Falcons could definitely look for a RB if they are forced to release Warrick Dunn. They could definitely use another CB, but Tye Hill is the only viable option at this point in the draft and two small, very fast CBs will be enticing but I think they'll take Bunkley and add some serious meat up front on their DLine.
16. Miami Dolphins - Eric Winston, Winston Justice, Tye Hill, Chad Jackson - The Dolphins are definitely looking for a QB this year but with the big three off the board they better hope they get one in free agency. They could use another DLineman for their 3-4 defense, but with Bunkley gone that isn't a great option here. Tye Hill will be a serious consideration with the release of Sam Madison, and Chad Jackson will also warrant a long look. However, I think they'll look to improve their OLine, and with his strong Combine I think they'll take the University of Miami stud in Eric Winston over USC's Winston Justice.
17. Minnesota Vikings - DeAngelo Williams, Laurence Maroney, Winston
Justice, Mathias Kiwanuka, Tamba Hali - The Vikings are in a bit of a precarious situation as there aren't many solid picks here at positions of need. Winston Justice would be an option to help their OLine and Tamba Hali or Mathias Kiwanuka would both be options at DE. They have a lot of money available, so they could make a major run at one of the great RBs in free agency, but until that happens I think RB will be their top priority in the draft and it will come down to U of Minnesota's Laurence Maroney or DeAngelo Williams, and I think DeAngelo is a little more solid of a runner which is what they've been lacking for years, so he gets the nod.
18. Dallas Cowboys - Chad Jackson, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson, Manny Lawson, Abdul Hodge, Winston Justice - The Cowboys could use some OLine
help, although I think interior OLine is more of a concern and I don't see any of those guys being worth this pick. Darnell Bing and Ko Simpson will be decent options to improve their S position, but neither is worth this high of a pick. Abdul Hodge would be a decent option at ILB and Manny Lawson will be a decent option at OLB, but I think Chad Jacskon would be too much to resist in upgrading their receiving core with a great young talent.
19. San Diego Chargers - Tye Hill, Winston Justice, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson. The Chargers are in a similar situation to the Vikings, but their main weakness is in their secondary. They had the #1 defense against the run but were 28th against the pass. While Darnell Bing and Ko Simpson will be considered, I think Tye Hill will be their pick to provide a smaller, very fast CB to complement the bigger Quentin Jammer.
20. Kansas City Chiefs - Gabe Watson, Winston Justice, Sinorice Moss,
Jonathan Joseph - The Chiefs may need to upgrade their aging OLine, especially if they lose some guys to the salary cap. WR and CB are also areas of some concern, but I don't think any of the remaining guys will be worth this high of a pick. In the end I think they could take a chance on the next best DT in the draft and grab Gabe Watson, although he is also a bit of a reach here.
21. New England Patriots - Manny Lawson, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson, Laurence Maroney - The Patriots will consider some help at S or maybe even look for Maroney at RB, but I think Manny Lawson will be too much to resist after his strong Combine and since the Patriots love those DE/OLB tweeners, and he has the size and athleticism to be a nice pass-rushing specialist in the mold of Willie McGinest.
22. Denver Broncos - Mathias Kiwanuka, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson, Sinorice Moss, Tamba Hali - The Broncos will be looking to improve their DLine with some more athleticism, and they could also look for another WR or S. I think if the Broncos do not acquire John Abraham or another similar DE in free agency, I think they'll look for the best athletic DE in the draft at #22.
23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Winston Justice, Abdul Hodge, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson, Max Jean-Gilles, Nick Mangold. The Bucs could use some help and youth at several areas, but with Eric Winston gone I think they'll take Winston Justice to help out their OLine.
24. Cincinnati Bengals - Leonard Pope, Jonathan Joseph, Jason Allen, D'Qwell Jackson - The Bengals definitely need some help in the middle of their DLine to improve their run defense, but none of the remaining ones will be worth this pick. Jonathan Joseph will be an option at CB, and Jason Allen will be an option as a CB/S. D'Qwell Jackson might receive some considerations at LB, but I think they'll take Leonard Pope to give them a very good option at TE, which was about their only area of need on offense.
25. New York Giants - Abdul Hodge, Demeco Ryans, D'Qwell Jackson, Jonathan Joseph, Marcus McNeill - The Giants need some help at LB probably more than anything else on their team, so it will come down to a decision between the top LBs remaining, although CB and OLine will receive a little consideration too.
26. Chicago Bears - Marcedes Lewis, Marcus McNeill, Max Jean-Gilles, Jonathan Joseph - The Bears have few needs on defense, maybe a better CB
to shut down the likes of Steve Smith. I think they'll focus on bringing their offense up to par with their defense, and OLine will receive some consideration, but I think Marcedes Lewis could be their pick. I don't think he's really worthy of quite this high of a pick, but TE is definitely an area of need for them to get another target for their young QBs.
27. Carolina Panthers - Sinorice Moss, Laurence Maroney, D'Qwell Jackson, Bobby Carpenter - TE and DT are probably their biggest areas of
need, but neither of those positions have a guy that is worth this high of a pick. Laurence Maroney will definitely be an interesting consideration for them, and D'Qwell Jackson or Bobby Carpenter could also be an option. I think their biggest need is adding another receiving threat to get attention away from Steve Smith, and with the top three TEs gone I think they could look at WR. Sinorice Moss is a similar type playmaker to Steve Smith, and while they could use a bigger possession-type WR Moss is too much of a talent to avoid at this spot if they're looking at WR. I'll be the first to admit this is a bit of a questionable pick though.
28. Jacksonville Jaguars - Ko Simpson, Darnell Bing, Laurence Maroney,
Jonathan Joseph - OLine will be a bit of a target for the Jaguars, and their secondary will also be a key area of concern. Laurence Maroney would also receive a long look if Fred Taylor's future is in question. I think Ko Simpson and Darnell Bing will be the two finalist for this draft pick.
29. Denver Broncos - Darnell Bing, Laurence Maroney, Maurice Stovall - The Broncos could be looking for an additional RB after releasing Mike Anderson, but they have not picked on in the 1st round since Shanahan came to the team, but it would be interesting to see what Maroney could do in their system. However, John Lynch is getting old and the Broncos could use another another quality player at that position, and Darnell Bing would be a solid addition if he lasts this far.
30. Indianapolis Colts - Laurence Maroney, Bobby Carpenter, D'Qwell Jackson, Marcus McNeill, Jonathan Joseph - The COlts could be looking to fill some holes on defense, especially if they have to release a lot of guys in the coming weeks. They could maybe use an upgrade on their OLine as well, but with Edgerrin James departure they will really be looking for a RB. Maroney would be a great fit for their system, and if he falls this far I don't see them passing him up.
31. Seattle seahawks - Maurice Stovall, Bobby Carpenter, D'Qwell Jackson, Tamba Hali - They could use some more talent on defense, especially with Jaime Sharper's departure. However, WR is probably a bigger need for them, and although Maurice Stovall is a bit of a reach for the end of the 1st round, he's still a pretty solid pick and could provide a nice addition to their offense.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Nick Mangold, Jonathan Joseph, Elvis Dumurville - The Steelers will need to look at WR if Randle El leaves, but there aren't any worthy ones at this point. They could look for another OLB pass rusher for their 3-4 defense, but I think Nick Mangold would be a solid pick to improve their OLine and replace the aging Jeff Hartings.
