isaac bruce

He would be a good pickup for us, proven receiver, helps remove alot of double teams on Johnson, could force defenses to move back and possibly open up the running game a little more,

The number one thing a young WR needs is a good veteran WR to help out the young'n learn. It worked for T. Holt. BTW, does anyone know why Holt changed his number?

They have moved the cap compliance deadline again to Wednesday so Bruce may get un-released.

If he does get released, 34 year old WR's coming off 500 yd seasons come cheap or they shouldn't come at all.

I doubt he would come, but he would help AJ and Mathis a LOT...he has helped Torry Holt a bunch, but I doubt he wants to come to Houston...but maybe he sees how Kubiak got Rod Smith to the pro bowl late in his career and wants the same?

Im all for Bruce as the #2. He's proven a heck of alot more than Bradford has, plus he'll spread the defense open.

Bruce at league minimum, no problem. I want a #2 that is a possession receiver, a chain mover. I loved Bruce in his heyday, but I just do not see the value that he brings to this team for anything other than league minimum.

I was thinking that Bruce could help AJ like Mutombo is helping Yao...

I'm guessing Bruce will command around 1-1.5 million for his services

right now what we need from a #2 reciever is a guy who can take AJ and mathis under his wing and show them how to be a reciever in the league for years and years...that's why guys like bruce and mccardell would be perfect for us...we don't need these guys for years and years...we need them for a 2 years tops to help mentor these young recievers and give andre some time to get down field without the double and triple teams...experience at reciever is what we need...right now our most veteran reciever is bradford nuff said

Vernon Davis
Andre Johnson
Isaac Bruce

and maybe Lavar Arrington.
There are millions of other threads you can post these types of things. You're leaving out Moran Norris...that makes me a saaaad panda...:(

bruce's contribution to this team would be huge...not really on the field production but it's what he'll be able to do as a mentor...when you think about our recieving corp who is the leader...andre is the quiet guy...mathis is more of the kick returner than a full-time reciever...gaffney hasn't really been able to stay on the field but bruce brings veteran leadership and will be able to show these young recievers how to play in this league for years to come

just read on espn insider he has been contacted by the texans, lions, and the redskins.

Detroit needs to stay out of this - they already have all the recievers I want.

If we reach a new CBA and the cap goes up $10 million+, I would sign Bruce to a 2 year deal in a minute. Can you imagine him teaching AJ and Mathis how to run routes. Additionally, this would alleviate a lot of people's concerns about Kyle Shanahan as WR Coach, Bruce could unofficially take over this position.

Although the Rams are still hopeful of re-signing Bruce, the 33-year-old is going to test the market. The Texans are one of many teams interested in the veteran receiver, the Houston Chronicle reports.
With Jabar Gaffney and Corey Bradford set to become unrestricted free agents, receiver is one of the Texans' priority positions this offseason. However, without an extension of the CBA that would increase the salary cap at least another $10 million, the Texans might not have the money to sign Bruce.

The Texans will face plenty of competition for Bruce's services, as three others teams have already expressed interest. Bruce's agent, Jimmy Sexton, declined to name those teams, but the St. Louis Post-Dispatch confirmed the Lions and Redskins as two of the teams.

Detroit is an obvious choice given the fact that former Rams coach Mike Martz is now the Lions' offensive coordinator.

I've been gone for the last week, so I've missed out on all my houston sports, so my question is whether Isaac Bruce is still available? With Gaffney gone, we have to sign someone now that we missed out on Givens. I really hope we get Bruce or Keyshawn Johnson. Somebody to fill that #2 reciever slot.

Nope. Bruce was resigned by the Rams. I didnt want the guy anyway, he is too old and this is his 'money farming' contract before retirement.
