If Jonanthan Scott or Eric Winston is available with first pick in 2nd round????

How do we not take one of them?

I see no reason if one of those guys is available in the 2nd round for us to pick up d brick with our top pick.

Or another solution is we take d brick and STILL take one of them shoring up the O-line for years to come at both tackles.

That said I'd rather DRAFT DEFENSE with our first pick and take one of those STUDS with our first pick in the 2nd.

Mario Williams looks VERY GOOD. Heck move back far enough I'd be for taking Vernon Davis.

Too bad we can't do the second round first so we would know one of them would be available. :jk:

I agree though that one would probably be available in the second and we sould take one if we don't get a lineman in the first.
 
Winston isn't gonna be there in round 2. He really helped himself at the combine. I'm betting Scott will be gone as well. For the record, either guy in round 2 is a steal!

That guy has Pittsburgh Steeler written all over him at pick #32 of the first round . Seattle could also take him #31 if they lose Steve Hutchinson via FA.
 
I like Jean-Gilles myself, but if Kubes does go to and improve the zone block scheme employed by Denver, then Max would be too big for it. The zone block uses smaller, quicker linemen and Mad Max is a whopping 355 pounds! That is a man-mountain!!
 
i think we'll really see what type of line kubiak wants to build during the draft. i'd love to have jean-gilles & latui (700lbs of beef between the two!), but they wouldnt fit the denver scheme at all. i dont think that kubiak's going to pick a linemen just because they're rated higher than another, he's going to pick the ones that fit his mold.
 
It's lookin' like Bush in the first round, so we better damn well pick either Giles, Winston, whoever with out 2nd pick.
 
you gotta figure that one of either winston, scott, or mangold will be available for us in the second round...if not that means we got our pick of linebacker or defensive end
 
Johnathan Scott will be around for sure, his stock as dropped dramatically since the Senior Bowl (he might even sneak into the third round). However, he is going to be a RT in the NFL, not a LT. Winston will be long gone, especially after his combine performance.

I would much rather draft Colledge than Scott, he fits Kubiak's/Gibbs zone blocking scheme very well. Additionally, I think he could play guard if need be.

I agree with many posters on here that Winston has solidified his position as a 1st round pick, very possibly in the top 20 now so he won't be available at #33. Jonathan Scott will almost for sure be there but I'm not real fond of taking him that high, maybe Daryn Colledge depending on who else is available and what we do in the 1st round. Max Jean-Gilles shouldn't even be on the Texans draft board, he doesn't come close to fitting our blocking scheme.

If the Jets send John Abraham to the Broncos for the #22 or #29 pick, it would be interesting to send the #1 and #66 to the Jets for the #4, #22, #36, and a future pick. That would give us:

#4 Mario Williams (DE, N.C. State)
#22 Eric Winston (OT, Miami) if available, otherwise best available OT/LB/CB/S or Leonard Pope (TE, Georgia)
#33 Nick Mangold (OC, Ohio St.)
#36 Johnathan Joseph (CB, South Carolina)
#65 Dominique Byrd (TE, Southern Cal) unless Pope taken at #22, then go for OT/LB/S.

WOW MorKnolle!! I think this has to be a first...I actually agree w/ you on something...LOL!

The only thing that I may change in your scenario is Mangold at #33. While I like Mangold, I think that we could address the interior Oline in later rounds by taking Mark Setterstrom, Rob Sims, etc. That would leave us w/ the #33 pick to take the best FS, LB available. But I definately wouldn't be upset if we wound up w/ Mangold instead.

The 40 is overrated. When I want a CB, WR, or RB, Ill look at the 40. When I want a football player to play in the trenches, ill look at game film.

Get over the 40 times.
 
Assuming we don't trade any of our 1st 4 selections (big assumption). I see us doing the following:
1. Bush
2. Best OLT left (barring a huge run on them)
3a & 3b. DE and TE
