Any of you gonna admit to owing DW4 an apology?

I semi owe him one.

Looking back, I remember watching Clemson take on Alabama back to back and being amazed, I hoped and wished we’d draft Watson but was convinced there was absolutely NO way in hell he’d be there as he was sure to be the first quarterback off the board. (In my mind.) I remember settling for Mahommes thinking we’d have a better shot at him, not that it was guaranteed he’d be there or that we’d even draft a quarterback.

I guess I bought into the “Run First, Only Reads Half The Field, Slow Throw Velocity, Weak Arm” comments lots of posters here made about him. I feel like such an idiot now, lol.

God bless our DW4!

Bwhahaha man I tried to tell ya'll the kid was legit. Most of these experts only do that crap for ratings or trying to make a name for themselves. They don't actually watch these games. Some look for certain flaws and run all the way to homebase with it.

I was concerned about his arm strength. That's all. Aside from that I thought he was a great prospect and loved that draft night.

I was eyeing mahomes because I didn't think Watson would be there.

Same here, I thought he’d be the 1st overall pick though. But then everything just aligned perfectly for us. I never doubted his arm strength, or him for that matter. It was O’Brien coaching him that terrified me, but then our offense exploded. I guess I also owe ol’ assjaw an apology as well. What a pleasant surprise!

Yipper......I was pushing for Savage to start the season and let Watson carry the clipboard for 2017. I didn't want to throw him behind what the Texans were calling an NFL OL. I wanted the Texans to put together an OL in 2017 and 2018 before turning the reins over to Watson.

Damn, even is I type this response and admit to wanting Savage under Center for the 2017 season...I don't see the illogic behind the plan.

If you average 35 points a game, a turnover here and there is not going to hurt.
Watch the Seattle game again...not trying to :deadhorsebut I will remain concerned. Turnovers are THE cardinal sin for me. I'm so strongly against them that I wouldn't have kept Brett Farve (spelling on purpose. :D).

I was concerned about the turnovers too. He got away with some last year because defenders just dropped balls that should have been picked off. I am optimistic but until he goes through a complete season healthy I am not going to crown him the greatest ever because after all there is a certain QB a lot of Texans fans wanted that looked good his first time around the league.

It will when the defense is giving up 30+ a game

After all, he was only .500 in his starts last year with all those gaudy stats

Why do people continually throw this around like it was his fault we went 3-3. Yes he threw some interceptions in those games. But in two of the games we were up with less than a minute to play in those games. Bill Obrien could've sealed the deal in those games with better play calling down the stretch. And man that secondary was devil awful atrocious. Last night I rewatched those games and that secondary couldn't stop a high school reciever core.

We should've went 5-1 with those great stats.

You are correct. The key though....keeping that guy who's responsible for making 35 PPG happen on the field for 16+ games.

Bro how can you do that when it's so easy to injure your ACL without being hit? The NFL has lost quite a few players for the season already behind ACL injuries. And this is OTA's.

Every QB gets lucky from time to time. If butterfingers doesn't drop that should've been interception. We could have beaten the Patriots.

People are always concerned about Watsons turnovers but fail to realize this youngster was on pace to throwing over 40 TDs as a rookie. He was also pace to rushing for at least 8 TDs.

Come on man!

I don't but into this logic. He could throw 50 tds. would you rather he have 0 ints or 30? Turnovers matter. Turnovers ALWAYS matter.

I neither said nor implied that it was HIS fault, but the facts are that the Texans went 3-3 in his starts. Read the entire post instead of jumping on people for their opinion instead of getting so defensive anytime YOU think someone makes a critical remark about a rookie we saw make SIX starts. The man is good, but he ain't God

My how times change... one of your first posts in the Watson selection thread

Of course we will have different views. Does that mean they are right and he is wrong? No

Isn't different views and opinions a good thing. Or do we all have to agree with one another?

Btw, where were you with all your Watson love before six months AFTER he was drafted?

He was not on pace to throwing 30 interceptions. And yes turnovers matter but they can be masked when you're putting up 35 points a game. Every QB that plays or played this game will have their share of turnovers.

I read your entire darn post dude. You making it seem as if his 3-3 start was a darn testament to his freaking play. Gaudy stats HUH (extravagantly bright or showy, typically so as to be tasteless.)

And man stop being freaked sensitive. I was not jumping on you or anybody else. Man you can't talk football around these parts without someone getting overly emotional.

My first statement was that it didn't matter if he was putting up 35 points per game if the defense was giving up 30+. How about you stop attacking different views and talk football?

And yes turnovers matter

That's all you had to say.

I understand your point about "masking turnovers" by scoring more. That sounds good until you watch our defense and special teams suck. They both minimize higher scoring and make turnovers more important.

I don't think anybody's being sensitive. You made a very bold and reckless statement about turnovers not being as important because of Watson's ability. You should expect some back lash.

You do your best to control what you can....not help and compound the opportunities.

How though? He's going to get hit, he's going to get rolled upon and he's going to run. Yes the protection will have to be 100%much improved. But our best bet is to hope the young fella has lady luck on his side.

No one is downplaying how good DW4 played. I'm just keeping my expectations tempered by the turnovers thrown and near turnovers dropped. DW4 should've had 4+ more INTs last year that were just flat out dropped by defenders. I try to stay pretty middle of the road. Some guys on here are all rainbows and unicorn farts, to the point of ridiculousness and some are all doom and gloom to the same point.

Right there with you for the most part.

First half of schedule was rough and would rather him not play or play at least the second half. I didn’t expect us to go to the super bowl or playoffs with a rookie QB or Savage. I did want to see if Savage could show something and be traded for something. (Now that part was a big miss). But most of all the first half was brutal and didn’t know what this line would look like and didn’t want to risk injury.

He got injured. There was good evidence to say it could have happened in Seattle. And the line was awful.

So who owes who an apology again?

What a bogus thread.

You were one of the drunk ones who denounced any idea that he could possibly get hurt last season and that injury concerns were laughable and that he was so different than other QB's who had similar skills. He did get hurt and those that were questioning that were right 100%. He didn't even last an entire season. Now he played great and was off to having the best rookie season of all time, but 7 games means squat in the NFL if you look at this overall history of QB's from the last 15 years. Especially the mobile ones with tons of athleticism like Watson has. Acting like 7 games means that the verdict is completely over is total nonsense. Das Prescott was nowhere near the QB he was as a rookie, and neither was RG3. RG3 and Watson had practically the same skill set coming into the NFL, and both caught huge injuries within that first season. RG3 just lasted longer. Watson was off to a great start, but now teams have film on him for next season, and we'll have to see how well he comes back from injury as well. He still has a lot to prove.

NFL network is doing replays of us vs the pats and the Seahawks today. Watson threw pics in both games leading to scores. Those scores were the difference in the game. Turnovers matter.
Besides the two pick sixes, it wasn’t exactly his fault those other interceptions led to scores. Our defense was trash! They should have held their end when we were up in New England and in Seattle with about a minute and a half left of the game.
