Just wow! Imagine Dez Bryant with DeAndre Hopkins!
With a healthy Deshaun Watson and J.J. Watt?
We'd be the favorites in the AFC. IMO! Super Bowl champs?

Humor was intended as the source is The Onion and I understand that many will feel that way in earnest. But is Dez worse than Randy Moss as a 'locker room cancer'? I always felt like it was blown out of proportion by the media for him and I get that same impression with Dez. I'm not sure that we need a Tarell Owen's attitude in the locker room but Dez strikes me as closer to a Moss attitude which seems more manageable to me. Maybe I'm wrong.

There is no, and then there's hell no, and then there's ... 'I've never been high enough to do something that stupid'.
What stupid about bring Dez to Houston ? Sign him on a one year deal he still has 2 3 years left in him and now he' been cut he has something to prove so why not ? Give me so reasons why it woukd b a stupid idea. I am all ears.

Could be bad for chemistry if he’s unhappy with his role. He could continue to trend downward. He might want a huge payday that would handicap the team moving forward.

All that said, I’d bring here for a reasonable deal and if there was an understanding about his role.

A player who in the past three years has a high of just over 800 yards receiving, and such an attitude/production/cost ratio that even Dallas doesn't want him? Dez had a good run, and he might have more in him. He smells like Ahman Green or Ed Reed, only with more blatant issues. Since we already have WR1 and WR2, bringing in a hot mess for a short term in a new offense is just asking for trouble. Wait, Ed Reed got Kubiak and Wade fired ... I take it back, Dez is a great idea!

The Texans are #2 on the most likely landing spot for Dez Bryant. Per a USA Today article just published a few minutes ago. Also, several Houston Texans players are already recruiting Dez.

2. Texans: They've got plenty of leftover cap space. They play two hours from Bryant's hometown of Lufkin, Texas. He'd enjoy single coverage opposite star DeAndre Hopkins and might find playing with Deshaun Watson is more to his liking after struggling to find chemistry with Dak Prescott in Dallas. The Texans also play the Cowboys in 2018, but will do so in Houston.

I haven't seen D-Hop with a new tweet.
But he did re-tweet Honey Badger's earlier one.

Come to Houston bro... @DezBryant

Let's give Dez Bryant the red carpet treatment here. I hope to see Dez at Sunday Night's Houston Rockets playoff game. That would be a good sign.

Didn't they write the same things about Randy Moss as he landed in NE? Got his act together fairly quick and enjoyed some productive times with Brady. If Dez went to NE, they would figure out how to optimize what's left in his tank....but this would be far too much of a challenge for the Texans? I actually think Dez could be interested in teaming up with Watson and Hopkins. Hopkins will pull the double teams, Fuller will pull someone with him over the top and when Watson has to scramble for his life, someone like Dez might get more action than he ever expected.

The Patriots will soon have serious problems! Tom Brady is going to be on the decline rather swiftly in the near future, Gronk may retire sooner rather than later at his young age. Belichick is an old man and may not coach for too much longer.

The Texans have a young stud at franchise quarterback (health permitting), a young stud at wide receiver which can take pressure off Dez Bryant. We have a talented defense if they can get their act together with Romeo leading the way as D-coordinator again.

I'll be shocked if Dez Bryant signed with the Patriots.
They traded away their most explosive wide receiver also.
All the pressure would be on Dez if he went to NE.

The Cowboys discussed a pay cut for Bryant last Dec. Despite his markedly declining production and his contract no longer matching his performance, Bryant did not want to entertain it in any way. Now, he's upset?

Bryant is owed $12.5 million in 2018 with a $16.5 million cap hit. When asked about taking a cut, Bryant answered as if he was thinking out loud. "I haven't heard no talks about that, but if it comes," Bryant said. "I don't know, probably not. Hell, no! I believe in me!" There has not been any indication the Cowboys will ask Bryant to take a cut, but a showdown could be on the horizon if they do. Barring a massive finale, Bryant will fail to crack 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns for the third season in a row despite playing all 16 games this year.

Only used the Patriots as an example. Dez needs to come to Houston.

Tell the Cowboys to cut Jason Witten then we’ll talk.
Too old for my liking (about to turn 36 with a lot of mileage on his body) and I suspect his production is about to go way down. While Dez Bryant is very motivated right now to prove all the haters and doubters wrong, and he still has at least a few prime years left of very high production at only 29 years old.

One performs at a high level every year, is a leader in the locker room and will probably find his way to Canton. One hasn't lived up to expectations, is an emotional problem, a potential locker room cancer, and got cut. And you chose which?

Quoting myself, sorry. When looking at Witten's stats something exceptional jumped out at me that many others probably knew ... according to Reference, Witten has played in every game of his NFL career except for 1 his rookie year. Holy damn that's iron man in an injury heavy position.

I will always choose the 29-year-old that is pissed off and has a lot to prove, rather than the soon to be 36-year-old that will likely retire in the next few years. His body isn't getting any younger and Witten had to be swayed to return for this season. And he's played in so many games as you mentioned. Iron man, sure, but those hits add up.

I'm thinking about the Houston Texans having a dangerous and potentially lethal passing attack in 2018. Maybe the best passing offense in pro football. A much improved red zone offense as well.

DeAndre Hopkins and Dez Bryant on the outside with Will Fuller in the slot. Deshaun Watson would be dangerous having so many weapons like that. A guy that was shattering all the rookie passing touchdown records with his arm prior to his injury.

All of a sudden I don't think I'm having too many O-Line concerns. Our offensive line, as bad it was last year, did seem to look a lot better with Deshaun Watson at quarterback. We were the #1 scoring offense in the league for a solid month when Deshaun was balling like an All Pro.

For good measure, I'd also sign Adrian Peterson. Just for those hard-nosed "short yardage" situations. He'd still be better than dialing up a Lamar Miller run up the gut when we only need one yard to win a tough road game at Foxborough or Seattle.

If the Texans front office becomes more aggressive. And we have some luck staying healthy (knock on wood). I could see the Texans having a very successful 2018. Playing in the AFC Championship. Maybe Super Bowl.

Bryant looked horrible last year. I got a first hand account having drafted him as my first receiver on fantasy. Had a couple of nice games, but can't separate anymore. Kind of like Dre towards the end except without the hands. I'd rather shoot the dice on a kid in the 6-7th round. I can see him going to NY and pairing up with OBJ.

You put Fuller with his injury history in the slot and you can plan on getting him his own personal gurney.

Hopkins can play the slot if needed. I think the costs of Dez outweigh the benefits. But he would be a productive asset if he is willing to accept a 1 year prove it deal and understands he is not the # 1 target. Maybe not even the # 2. I think he would be the #3 WR, possibly #2 depending on the matchup/situation. And insurance for a Hopkins injury which I hate to ever think about happening. If he is willing to play in a role where he is getting 3-5 targets a game instead of his usual 10+ I can see him being a Texan.

But Dez will not accept that contract/role with this team so it's a moot point.

That’s the thing, Bryant has already lost a lot of the athleticism that made him special. On top of that he hasn’t expanded and his skill set. He’s already on a downward trajectory. Witten understands the game and gets by on football IQ. Bryant never has had that and never will. His career will end just as Andre Johnson’s did. He’ll go to another team thinking he’s going to be the guy and there will be no quality production and the team will cut him sooner than later.
