I've decided to whip up a new Texan only mock draft in the next 10 minutes I have free. I have included NO trades in this mock. I also included the supplamental draft at the bottom.
1.1 D'brickshaw Fergueson - The Texans are not able to find a trading partner and decide to pull the trigger on the best OT in years and one who fits the new scheme perfectly.
2.33 Ko Simpson - He will get passed up by other DB's that have better measurables or have more exposure. He is one heck of a talent who I still think if he makes it past Atlanta, he will make it to us.
3.65 Anthony Fanso - This young TE will immediatly upgrade out team. He has great hands, above average speed, and great toughness. He also is used to winning. He is a steal at this point, and has no injury concerns.
3.66 Johnathen Joseph - This is a faster, shorter, stockier version of Daunta. He loves to blitz and play up on his man, as well as in run support. He is one of the fastest players in this draft. We now have 3/4 of our DB's from USC. He is used as a nickle at first while he learns, but is ready to take over if Philip starts ailing again.
4.97 Ray Edwards - He has as much athletic potential as Mario, Kiwi, or any other top DE. He has all the measurables. He drops low because of questions on his attitude and commitment. He is my DE sleeper.
5.129 Mark Setterson - This undersized OG has past experience in the zone-scheme. He is a very tough physically and mentally. He is a very sound technical player who excells when he is able to move his feet. He has very good lateral movement and gets out of his stance very quickly to set up.
6.161 Marcus Vick - Assuming the draft doesn't conflict with his prison schedule, taking a chance on him this late is worth it to me. He would be allocated to NFLE and/or worked out extensivly to where is able to be showcased for other NFL teams, ala Drew Henson. He has all the physical ability you want in a scrambling QB. If he straightens out, we could get another 3rd or even 2nd round pick next year. If he doesn't come around, it is ony a 6th round pick we are losing.
7.193 Roderkus Wright - This is a very talented DT out of a JuCo. He was a major recruit to the Ducks. He is a very quick interior man, who penatrates with ease. He was able to impress even at the Div. IA level against competion such as USC. His numbers against JuCo kids are sick. I also expect at least one of our DT's to be released or traded. He won't be expected to play much, but offers huge upside if he reaches his potential. He is very raw after playing against the boys at JuCo.
With taking Marcus Vick, the Texans are expecting to trade him off. I will assume we get another 3rd round pick for this arguments sake.
Supplamental Draft
Round 1 : No picks by any team
Round 2 : No picks by any team
Round 3 : Ahmad Brooks selected by the Houston Texans.
All other rounds : No picks by any team
We end up not really losing a 3rd rounder next year, and gain a great young, but previously damaged MLB with some off-field questions. He is the first reserve to start with while he adjust. If you think he won't drop, take a look at Manuel Wright from last year. He was projected right up until the actual bids started coming in, to be taken in the 2nd and at the LATEST the 3rd round. ...He lasted until the 5th round.
This is what I was able to come up, unfortunatly, instead of 10 minutes, it took almost 30 minutes to complete. I hope you stay open minded and are respectful in your responses. I put in a great deal of effort and thought, even more than I thought I would.
