Being that we’re the worst team in the AFC South, are we or should we be happy for the Jaguars?

I wonder how the McNairs feel about the Jags making it to the AFC Conference Round while us, on the other hand, are a hot steamy pile of crap? They ain’t that much older than us, so we can’t use the “we’re a young franchise tho” excuse here. I know I’m not happy for them, f*ck the Jags!

The changes to the Jax’s front office and coaching staff have made a tremendous difference. It’s so weird watching them do good.

rooting for the Jags. Success will bring guys wanting money and people pulling on their good coaches etc. Also, maybe AFC South wont seem so putrid

I have no idea how it could happen. But it needs to.

Tom Brady will more than likely get his 6th ring. More of the same for us, as the Jaguars ascend to being the only threat to the Pats. They will only get better once Free Afency hits along with the draft.

Hopefully we can learn something from them, instead of trying to be like the Browns and hoarding picks instead of participating in Free Agency.

I have no idea of what to expect from the Texans with this so-called "new" GM of ours, of which he isn't really "new". We'll find out soon enough during free agency if anything is going to change.

Gave the current regime an extension

That's how they feel about it

Pretty good apparently

If you are satisfied other team winning, you'd probably be one of the guys being happy another guy got the bachelorette. Once Texans out, I seldom watch NFL exclusive of SB.

Heck yeah we can be happy for the Spotted Cats. They had a bad team but they kept trying and did something about it. They're deeper into the playoffs than we've ever been. May they go all they way.
Meanwhile we keep on with the same old bad coach.

I rooted for the Patriots to beat the Titans, it was difficult but better than the alternative.

I don’t hate the Jags enough to go through that pain again.

Unless I'm really bored, I won't watch the game, I hate both teams. I will say though, that if you make me choose, I'd rather see the Jags upset Brady just to watch Brady cry and Bortles make an ass of himself in the SB.

For the duration of this pathetic NFL season, I'm a Viking fan.

Anytime a team in our division goes deep into the postseason (preferably Texans) it show AFC South ain’t that lame after all and there’s some good football played around here despite negative national consensus. So hell yeah I happy for the Jags and for that matter, all former Texans too.

They had 6 straight years of top 5 picks and 10 years straight of top 10 picks to rebuild 'overnight'... hopefully we don't have to suffer that ever

The Jags have been around 7 or 8 years longer than the Texans and I'm fine with them getting to the SB though I don't expect them to beat NE but they were sure a huge surprise today.
They have really acquired a wealth of defensive talent thru the FA & Draft in the last few years - great defense with some talent on the offense and Bortles played well today
as he finally has shown some real progress in this, his fourth year.
It's gonna be a daunting challenge for us to catch up to them in the talent department.

**** the Jags .... but they did beat the team that I hate the most in all of professional sports. The Steelers ruined many a childhood memory beating the Oilers.

This was where my mind was today.

It's always a good football weekend when Penn St/Steelers lose.

yeah, adding Campbell and Bouye was huge for them

Yep, you've got to participate in both FA and the draft if you want to become a great franchise. Unfortunately that comes with risk.

That's as close to my childhood dreams coming true that it would ever become.

AND we had Earl Campbell to run against the Cowgirls. And we damn sure could have beaten LA in the next Super Bowl if we had managed to get past the Steelers that 2nd time. Earl Campbell was practically unstoppable back then in his prime.

The Oilers could have played the Cowboys in the '79 Super Bowl if it weren't for the Steelers.
But there was really no chance for the Oilers. You want to go places in the playoffs, you have to have a coach.

So after pointing out that 25+ other coaches have made it to the AFC/NFC championship game within their first 4 seasons, during the Texans history, excuse after excuse was posted... after all, that's what many Texan fans do... make excuses. One of the most common was the lack of a "franchise" quarterback. So here we are with the AFC/NFC Championship games next weekend and what have we got. Doug Pederson in his second season with his back-up QB that just beat a good Atlanta team to get there. Doug Malone in his first season with a "trash" QB, that just went on the road and beat a good Pittsburgh team and my favorite Mike Zimmer in his 4th season. My favorite because he took a QB that wasn't good enough for our Texans and just beat a future Hall of Fame QB to lead his team to the NFC Championship game. But as a Texan fan, what do we get. We get a brand new 5 year plan with a coach that's already had 4 seasons to show he can't get there, coming off a 4-12 season. While the Raiders are willing to spend 100M on a proven coach the Texans extend the contract of a proven loser.

Let the excuses begin... again(not that they ever stop!)

Why do you care what others think?
No one is forcing you to be a fan of or to follow the Texans

Rick Smith.

(Apparently saying that name is enough to get a huge extension after failing badly).

I'm not here to make excuses, for real, but how many expansion teams enter a division with a all time great qb in his early prime and last for about 15 years? See, that's what happened in 02 and Manning, was in dominant. Oh yeah, he also had Harrison, Wayne, James, and some guy named Freeney. They didn't drop the NFC West or the AFC West , they were dropped off against a prime HOF, record breaking Qb. The key is what can the Texans do? Well, they have something the Jags wish they had in Watson. One thing we have learned about the NFL is the only way to sustain success is to have a franchise qb. Why? Eventually guys are gonna get overpaid and move on.

Whether the Jags pay Bottles or not, that spot cost 20m per yr now no matter who you have. That 20m is going to cost you 2 really good young players. Even if anyone considers Bortles trash, the franchise tag is 23m of real money. Whether they beat New England or not, they have a decision that will directly effect how good they will be in the next 3 years. If the qb situation isn't solved, remember the Jets under Ryan?

being that we're the worst team in the afc south

are we really?

honestly I wouldn't take indy over the texans, maybe not even the titans if injuries are not put on the balance.

this year they were more lucky than us on that front, I have no doubt that with a relatively healthy team we could have done everything the titans did (included losing by 20+ agains the pats in the divisional round of the playoffs)

I am on record (damn if I remember which thread) as wanting both the Patriots and Steelers to lose because I'm tired of the east coast media telling us how effin' fabulous they are. So I was cheering for them to lose more than cheering for Tennessee and Jacksonville to win.

Besides, with this "continuity and alignment" McNair is selling (and a lot of you are swallowing), it'll be extra sweet when we take back the division crown next season.

...right?

Oh and the Jags should get to the SB and lose to Minnesota. I mean, historically, the SB loser sucks the following season. So that would be good for us.

This is kinda how I feel about it..I can't hate b/c their defense is pretty beastly. But it took them literally 10 years to build the roster they have now & they'll only have a 2-3 year window to get it done. Didn't wanna see them win but the bolded is the only good coming out of them winning. The AFC south will be the toughest division in football next year.

I find it impossible to root for teams in the AFC South and the Pats are my 2nd fave team, so I'll be pulling for a Vikings-Patriots Superb Owl.
First I'm pulling for Case & the Vikings but after them I'm on board with the Jags. An I'd love to see you-know-who welcoming the Jags owner Mr.Khan to the White House after winning it all, that would be very cool. Sorry for interjecting politics, but sometimes the respective paths of Sports and politics do cross.
