Why The Texans should NOT draft Reggie Bush

Thanks for fixing the link....

As for the article, I for one feel that the biggest need is help on the o-line.

We have a RB, The management has shown confidence in Carr, and the defense is coming around. I know it would be insane to use that #1 pick on an offensive lineman, but a trade down is workable.

Our biggest need is DE and they don't even mention Williams in that piece...so take it fwiw. I wouldn't mind Bush on the team....or Ferguson, Williams, or Young. Lots of ways to build a winner, although we all have our preferences. The first overall pick is just one guy and we could use about 6-7 upgrades at multiple positions.

Agree with you Vinny. I could see the Texans Taking a William or Ferguson 1st overall if they can't get a trade down partner. :twocents:

Ferguson and Williams aren't going to be picked #1. There is an outside shot of them moving into the 3rd spot, but they aren't good enough to jump all of the big 3.

" Young would not be wise pick for the Texans. Four years ago, the Texans selected David Carr and while Carr has have some rough times, he is still the face of the franchise and the Texans have not lost faith in him. To prove my point, the Texans just gave Carr a three-year contract extension. They did this after “Special Consultant” Dan Reeves gave Carr his seal of approval. "

I like this guys take on the Carr-Young issue.
I'm of the opinion that's Young's decision to come out actually increased the
likelihood that Carr gets reupped by the Texans. I think they recognized that
drafting Young, notwithstanding his tremendous talent, would be a huge,
long-term project full of risk and uncertainty. Resigning Carr gives them a
plausible reason to look away from QBs, and therefor Young in the upcoming Draft. Don't get me wrong, this isn't the only reason they resigned Carr, IMO.

Wonderful post. I could not agree more.

Sure, the article make s very valid (and rather obvious points) about the Texans' need for an effective O-Line. There's only two problems with this POV at the moment...

1) Who WILL trade with us, and will it be worth what we get in return?

2) Even if we do get the "Godfather" deal that we'd all like, just what makes anyone think that Casserly won't find a way to foul it up?

Aren't there costs involved with drafting so many players in one year?

The fewer the picks, the fewer the screw ups by Casserly

By the same logic the more picks he has, the better chance he will luck out on one.
Not with his past 4 drafts as a track record. 19 or 20 first day pix (whether or not they were used on an actual player or used up in trades) and we only 3-4 players to show for it.
