Question about the Titans/Texans relationship

Hey guys, Texans fan from the UK here - very keen to find out new information about the team.

Quick question - how do the Houston residents feel about the Titans? Do they have any ambivalence towards them, or do they see them as the team that destroyed the Oilers?

Thanks guys!

I don't know about anyone else, but I rooted hard for the Titans (while being bitter as hell) when they first left Houston and we had no team, all the way up to their Superbowl run. Why? Because they had players I loved to watch, like McNair and Bruce Matthews and wanted to see them succeed, it wasn't their fault they played for a greedy (fill-it-in)... My interest tailed off (I had always been a Broncos fan...) as the team did, so admittedly, it was more of a fair weather thing, jeryseys was alright too. But to answer your question, yeah, I have to hate them as long as they stand in the Texans way, but during seasons like this past one, I want them to win games against some teams (partly so they wouldn't have a high draft order). I just hope I don't end up liking any of their new players...

Ambivalence should never under any circumstance be mentioned in the same sentence as the..that team. The one that was stolen from us and shoved a championship in our face from an ungodly place. They will be crushed and spat on at the bottom of the division. May god have mercy on their souls, because as a Texans fan I have none.

Same here:crying:

Bud The Dud is an unwelcome citezen of Houston now, He never walks down a dark alley and hides while in town. I ripped up my check and gave up my 50 yard line tickets when they announced they were moving. Bud is a cuss word in Houston.

I loved the Oilers but I stopped rooting for them when they moved.I have a hard time rooting for a team that's a long ways away from where I live.

He sometimes needs a police escort...;)

Nothing against Jeff Fisher or Steve McNair or any of the Titans staff or players, but the long and short of it, from a former Oiler fan's perspective, is that the Titan's could lose every single game and I would never feel sorry for them.

Why?

Bud Adams. He is Satan's spawn and has contributed nothing to the common good of humanity. He is a spoiled rich brat who will only know failure because of his short-sighted and selfish nature...

Any questions?

If the Texans draft Vince Young, I will remain a fan.

If the Titans get Vince, the Oilers are my favorite team . . . again.

The he sounds alike lot Tom Benson.

Trust me, I'm also a Saints fan as well and we are going through the same ordeal right now.

Thank god Commissioner Taglibue (spelling) is fully aware and understands this situation and helping us out as much as he can.

What happened to my homestate and what was and is happening to my homestate team, I could never wish upon anyone.

Personally i like the titans from the front office down all the way to their uniforms i think their one of the better looking uni's in the leugue i was happy for Tenn when they won the AFC championship that could of been us.:stirpot:

I didn't live in Houston when the Oiler played so I have a different opinion on it.

I like the Titans. I don't know much about Bud Adams, but I like the players and I like the coach (except, of course, when they play the Texans). They aren't my 2nd favorite team in the NFL, by I don't have any animosity towards them. They don't really feel like a rival to me. The Jaguars are a bigger rival to the Texans than the Titans are, IMO. So I feel no ill will towards them. I just want the Texans to kick their ***** whenever we play them.

Another Texans fan who feels the same way I do. :redtowel:

Wow. Alot of strong feelings towards Bud. From what I remember, Bud wanted a new stadium built in Houston of which he was going to fott part of the bill, but couldn't get an agreement or something of that nature w/ the city. I dunno. I know blamed Bob Lanier for the team leaving though.

Bud Adams, greedy? Perhaps. But until Jeff Fisher, Steve McNair, and I really hope this is not something that ends up happening Vince Young are not there anymore I'll root for them.

Now when they play the Texans, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TEXANS!!!!

Man, the nazi mods have no sense of humor....

Nice delete of my steaming pile of poo representing the former owner...

Actually I thought it was very representative and funny, but my e-mail would be full of yellow cards

Actually I thought it was a nice blend of clever wit, juvenile humor, levity, sarcasm, and outright grotesqueness -- while totally within the board rules. No cuss words, no derogatory remarks toward any other board member, and only a veiled reference to castration of our former owner while appealing to the psycological fallout of the event. This was not your typical jr high knee jerk response. There was deep meaning to that post -- somwhat akin to a piece of museum art ... or the stuff on the bottom of my shoe. Tsk tsk on that decision. There are far worse criminals out there and you know it.

I guess if I put a party hat on it like this -> http://www.houstontexans.com/fan_zone/messageboards/showpost.php?p=276993&postcount=49, it would have been okay?

The joy of selected reading. I think I stayed far away from that thread because I knew it was bad news, but now that I am aware :club:

A.J., quit all the:crying:.

I wasn't an Oilers fan anymore by the time they moved. Bud Adams had just sucked all of my fandom out of me. I don't hate-hate the Titans, but I really, really don't like them.

They probably deleted it because it was too kind of a representation of the Dud. It's a nice attempt, but if you tried to do some sort of representative art to capture the true essense of the Dud, it would cause the end of civilization as we know it. Seriously. The horror of it would act as universal birth control, cause riots, bombings and panic in the streets, make our brains ooze into a rancid stew and strike us blind, but both in a humane way, so that we could be relieved of the putrid sickness imprinted in our eyes.

Such "art" is far too dangerous for the MB and the mods are right to stop such attempts of showing it. :spy:

IMO and based what I know and have seen, the Dud is evil and stupid and vomitous and repulsive and cheap and crass, ill-mannered, ill-natured, ill-spoken and just plain illin, nauseatingly dressed and groomed, frightens children of all ages even when it isn't Halloween and overall is a complete embarassment to the NFL. On a good day.

AND now that they are in the Texans division, I lack the vocabulary to state how much I want the flying meatball Titanhicks to lose and rot. I actually have the vocabulary, but there might be children lurking about, and such verbiage is none too appropriate.

Anyhow, I hope that you find this post to be educational in your understanding of the view of at least this Texans fan. I know quite a few Texans fans who feel similar to me, and some who I do not. Though on various topics, I often believe that there are any number of opinions that may be valid or defensible, but as it relates to this subject, I am Right and everyone whose opinion is different than mine is Wrong, and/or they are not responsible for their beliefs as their souls have been corrupted by the vulgarity which is the Dud.

Thanks for being a part of the message board and please have a lovely week. :)
