Game 9...Here We Go Again...Los Angeles Rams!

JamTex

Hall Of Fame Texans Fan!
On Sunday, November 12th at 3:05pm central time, the Texans will travel to Los Angeles, California to take on the Rams in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The game will be aired locally in Houston on CBS 11.
Jarred Goff and Tod Gurley will prove to be too much for the Texans defense to handle.
Tom Savage will not be successful even with Hopkins, Fuller, Miller and the possible return of Fido.
The Texans without Watson are no threat.
This one will get out of hand quick.
I hate to predict against our Texans, but it's increasingly harder to hope for a win. Especially with Watson out and the Texans defense unable to make the important stops.

Texans 10
Rams 34

The Rams will probably score in the 40's. I don't know what the Texans will put up on the board but it won't be much, if anything. Wade has that defense playing well, he will blitz the hell out of Savage and Savage has shown he's too slow to get away from it.

Wait a second.....are you guys saying there are no more participation trophies???? If not, this is an outrage....dang the insanity!!!!!

We've already seen Savage and Yates, McGoon needs to play this game. We must make sure our record as starting the most QBs over a single coaches career is not within reach.

The Rams only beat San Francisco by two points.

If we're that lucky it will be because the Rams decide to be merciful and bench their starters halfway through the first quarter. This offense of ours scored exactly 7 points against the Colts.

That's about as bad as it possibly could get. Everything that follows that game is just the season playing out the only way it can. We traded away next year's first and second round picks and now we're going to make sure those picks are in line with what a 3-13 team should get. I really don't see us winning another game this year with the formula we are currently using.

"Mary had a little sheep
It followed her each night to sleep
The sheep turned out to be a Ram
Mary had a little lamb."

We're going to take it on the chin again and you know it.
Rams 42
Texans 0 (if they are lucky)

In this game we are basically baby harp seals and are going to get clubed to death. If we score 10 points it will be a miracle.

Amazing how quickly a teams situation can turn around in the NFL. I mean it's certainly a real long-shot, but it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility for us to have SB game in Minny next year between the LA Rams & Jacksonville Jags. It could happen.

I'll buck the trend a little bit and say the Texans will score 2 TDs on offense, plus a couple FGs. If they can tack on a defensive or ST score, that's 27 points. That seems damn near miraculous, given what we saw this past Sunday, but I think they can do it.

No idea what to do about the 50 they'll give up though.

Not in Houston

This is why you don’t plan ahead for road trip games. Lol. I’ll be flying to LA to watch this game. At the time, thought I was going to watch a shootout between Goff & Watson. Instead, I’m going to watch a massacre. Maybe I should show up with some Astros championship gear? It will make me feel a little better.

At this point....just save face. If anyone should ask, just tell them you thought this was a rally for the Astros. Go Astros!!!

Feels like the dread of an execution date.

This is the type of game that makes me completely understand so-called "fairweather fans". I do not blame them at all. I feel like a dumbass for feeling obligated to watch this one as a Texans fan.

Time for the DVR and FF button. See if I can watch this game within 40 minutes, including bathroom breaks.

If it makes you feel any better, I went up to Cincy for the game up there a couple years ago, and was convinced going in that it was going to be a bad loss for the Texans. The Bengals were 8-0 and the Texans were crap. Texans won a defensive battle (OK, crappy offense, let's be honest) and I walked out cheering my team.

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY

in some ways knowing you're gonna get crushed is an easier pill to swallow. I expect nothing positive to happen so a good play here and there are like little surprises..........i have never typed a more pathetic sentence

NFL Game Pass is my preferred method to watch games now that the Texans are a MASH unit.

Condensed film get through it under 40 minutes.

The Steelers, Chargers, and Bengals beat the AFC South this weekend. The Texans upset the Rams. haha I've been wrong before so what Go Texans! Now be easy on me out there.

Sad isn't it, that one player can that much difference on a team....

This game has last years beat down from the Vikings all over it for me.

I was thinking about your first point last night, while watching the Lions beat down the Packers.

A QB can really make a difference between a team being competitive and outright sucking, as clearly revealed by the Rodgers-less Packers and Watson-less Texans.

And with that thought in my mind, I kept wondering. . . WHY THE HELL DID IT TAKE SO LONG FOR THE TEXANS TO ADDRESS THE QB SITUATION??!!?!?!

Serious failure by the staff and FO in that regard, especially seeing that they were willing to give up multiple firsts in the draft to pick up a young QB.

It's really a pretty complex equation, I guess. I think we are almost all in complete agreement that "It's the QB, stupid", but think about the teams that have a QB that never seem to climb above mediocrity. Chargers, anyone? The Saints have a HOF QB that has dragged that team into respectability for years now, but even he can't overcome that team's ineptitude most of the time. On the other hand, as I mentioned in a different thread, the Texans as a team last year looked better than they did this past Sunday, and they had Osweiler at QB. So some combination of Savage being worse than Osweiler and Watson masking how much worse this overall roster is than last year's (granted, injuries) adds up to what we've seen.

Getting the QB is the first and most important step, but I feel like Watson is playing behind a worse OL than Osweiler enjoyed last year, and he's masking just how bad this defense is compared to last year's, or at least distracting from it. Either way, the QB wasn't going to take this team very far on his own. Even he couldn't mask crappy coaching decisions that cost the team two losses.

I'm going to put a lot of blame on OBs play calling also. He did very little to help TS last Sunday. If I were doing the play calling, I would keep using most of the elements he used with Watson, minus the designed runs. Savage is mobile enough to execute a lot of that stuff, especially the misdirection plays that slow down the pass rush. With Watson, OB was like Coach Klein in all his glory. With every other QB, he's been like Red Beaulieu without Klein's playbook. As of now, the defense is just going to pin its ears back and stop the run on their way to the QB. Watson was the running game for the Texans.

It's almost like teams have to decide between winning with defense or lucking into that "Franchise Quarterback" (and it really is lucking into it). Suck a lot and keep picking QBs high in the 1st round, ala Browns, or make the wrong guess and give up the kings ransom to move up to select a QB and swing and miss, you've set your team back years. There just isn't a formula to go by that says this guy is THE guy. Too many variables in the equation of just evaluating a player's transition to the NFL. That's any player at any position. The hardest position in the NFL is the QB.

One thing I can't shake when I watch QBs: Big Ben is almost impossible to sack. He extends and makes plays behind the LOS after players were draped all over him. Matt Schaub would assume the fetal position at the slightest hint of pressure. They played at the same height and weight. Coaching, instinct by the player or a coach sensing a players instinct and coaching accordingly, to avoid a turnover?

This is the type of game where you just sit in front of the TV with a bottle of Jack Daniels and weed and just have a good laugh. What we did to the Titans, get ready for that to happen to us several times before this season is over with.

Want to know why it took so long?

Because Watson is completely outside the OB BOX

WATSON IS NOT WHAT OB ENVISONED

he did a good job adapting to a generational talent

BUT WHAT OB WANTED IS NOT WHAT WATSON IS

OB will never find the next brady

Watson will make OB just like Brady made belichek. Belichek has a zero track record with out Brady. And that's cool.

OB is nothing till Watson arrived

And to extend this point...the greatest QB to ever play in the NFL was a RD6 selection and he may not be done yet. That's crazy luck for NE.
