Trade #1 and still get Bush

Eyeguy

Waterboy
The Texans should trade #1 to NO, Tenn or NY and let everyone know it.

If NO wants a QB and they think Tenn will trade for #1, Value = #108 and '07 3rd round to move from 2 to 1 (500pts)

If Tenn wants QB trade value = #35 and #67 (800pts)

NY wants Bush trade value = #36 and '07 1st round (1000pts)

If NO and Tenn pick QB we could still get Bush

NY trade results in D'brickshaw

In all of these cases we pick up extra picks and we might still end up with Bush.

Tenn has no reason to trade they are garunteed lienart, young, or bush.

New Orleans wants a QB and unless there is a way for 2 teams to trade in front of them they will get either Leinart or Young. They have no need to give up draft picks so they get their choice. They have too many holes to fill.

Tennesse will get whichever QB New Orleans doesn't take or Ferguson. Or if Bush is available they might consider trading down and picking up Cutler and some extra picks.

Neither of these teams has any incentive to trade up and help the Texans.

I'd offer NO Carr and Davis for the #2 pick
I'd EVEN go as far as Carr & AJ for it ...they'd HAVE to respect that

With that, ofcourse you could take YOUNG AND BUSH ...
OR ...take those picks and trade them to Indy for their whole damn O-Line, lol.

Seriously, tho ...that would bring in some SERIOUS trade bait!

What part of that was serious?

Another excellent point from TexanBacker. The Saints are at worst guaranteed one of the top two QBs in the draft, so they won't give anything up to move up one spot. The Titans are almost guaranteed one of the top two QBs in the draft at #3 and if not they can have either Bush or D'Brick, so they have no incentive to move up. The Jets and Packers are your best option, although in the Jets case they are also guaranteed a top two QB (they may need to get a new QB), the top RB (they need a new RB), or the top LT (they need a new OT), so I don't know if they'll give up a whole lot to trade up either. I can see them maybe offering the #4, John Abraham (since he's a free agent and likely gone anyways), this year's 3rd, and next year's 2nd or something like that. The Packers are another possibility if they fall in love with Bush but they won't be moving up to get a QB, and with DeAngelo Williams and LenDale White both in the draft and Mario Williams likely to be available at #5 I don't know how much they'll give up to move up for Bush

Now this is stupid if you're being serious, our QB ($8 million cap hit) and our only legitimate WR ($7 million cap hit) for the #2 pick? Who is Vince supposed to throw to then? Keep Bradford on to drop more passes or will he magically catch Vince's throws? Are Bush (who VY people have been complaining about as a non-every-down RB) and Vince supposed to be able to run an offense by themselves?

I'd say that is dramatically overstated. By no means am I predicting either team will want to move up, but teams often fall in love or at least vast preference for one player. There is no reason to believe NO will be just hunky dory with either Leinart or Young. They may very well want Leinart much more than Young or Cutler. In that event, IF someone out of the top few picks considers Leinart (Oakland as an example) then Casserly would have leverage with NO. Teams don't always just happily say oh well, we will take the other guy.

If Matt Leinart or Reggie Bush are on the board the Titans will take one of them before they take Vince Young. Titans may want a QB but there is NO WAY they pass up on Leinart or especially on Reggie Bush with Norm Chow as their OC.

eastcoast sports reports that "talk around the league" is Texans trade #1 to tenn for #3. tenn wants Leinart and Texans have targeted Bush or D'Brickshaw.

If you have a link it would help. Thanks.

I don't think that will happen, but that would probably be the best case scenario for the Texans if they want Bush. Young would go to the Saints (not in our division, not in our state, not our former team), the Texans would still get Bush at a lower price plus extra players.

Again I don't think this will happen, but it would be interesting.

Just think about this for a moment.

1. Tennesse moves up and surprises everyone and takes Bush, not Leinart.
2. New Orleans grabs Leinart.
3. The Texans pass on VY and grab D'Brick.

Oh the drama, the drama. It would be funny to see.

The smoke coming out of peoples ears in the Houston would cloud the sky. I would be happy with any of the guys mentioned with the #3 pick.

Your scenario would be awesome and I think nobody would have a problem with this considering it takes care of our line and gives us Vince.

Just to be crazy lets trade Carr to the Dolphins.

His plan has us not taking Vince and taking D'Brick at #3, so how does it take care of our line and give us Vince?

I don't like D'Brick that high, I have enough questions on him that I don't want to use that high of a pick on him when we can get a very comparable guy in Eric Winston later in the 1st or in the early 2nd. In my mind, if we trade down we stay in the 4-5 range (or 3 if the Titans are dumb enough to trade up) and grab Mario Williams. We don't trade any lower in the draft because we'd likely lose out on getting Mario since the Packers will likely take him at #5 if they stay there, unless they really really like LenDale White and take him there. I would prefer us to trade down to this area and grab Mario, but if we can't get a decent trade or just decide to stay at #1 then we grab Reggie Bush, unless Mario puts up an amazing combine and workout and warrants a #1 overall selection.

If you could flir picks with NO and give them back their 3rd round pick and in turn get their 2nd and 4th along with a '07 pick you could have: (based on Football Furtures.com 7 rd mock)

Bush RB
Colledge OT
Hodge LB
Mangold C
Zemetrius CB or best DB on board
Adeyanju DE or best DE
Klopfenstein TE
1st pick in 6th and 7th round

What do the Saints gain out of this trade? They give up their 2nd round pick, 4th round pick, a pick in 2007, and move up one spot? Getting their 3rd round pick back isn't going to even the trade.

Trades need to be worked out without thinking about what can be done on Madden. Whoever takes the #1 will pay more than the other draft spots. Unless a team has 1 specific must have player, they aren't going to give the farm up.

NO will look to trade down, not up, their owner doesn't want to spend $$$ and trading up makes him spend more, thus not happenin

The value board has 400pts diffrence for the #1 vs #2 picks. The whole point is if N.O. ONLY wants Leinart and tenn. ONLY wants Lienart then we can play these teams off each other to maximize our return and in the case of N.O. maybe end up with extra picks AND Bush.
I don't play video games, what does Madden have to do with this?
