As expected, Texans are promoting rookie TE Evan Baylis.
Bayliss is a fairly capable blocker who can also catch the ball and more than few thought this kid should have made the original 53-man roster at the beginning of the season so I'm looking forward to his play tonight.

Bills worked out former Texas Tech and Minnesota Vikings punter Taylor Symmank today. Hope it's only a looksee and that Lechler isn't injured...........one of the only bright spots have been our punter and kicker.

Quality Backup!
Will Fuller back at practice today so now the Jalen Strong cut makes at least a little but if sense to me....... before that I was perplexed on that with our current wide receiver depth smh

I'm still not seeing it. Will Fuller wasn't on IR was he? He was still taking a roster spot. We didn't have to cut Strong to get Fuller back on the field.

WR Andy Jones was cut to make room for Baylis.
Actually CJ Feidorowicz went on the IR which gave room for Baylis. Jones was cut to bring back Strong from suspension. Strong had a crappy game, you can feel the frustration in his post game interview. That's life in the NFL, if the team doesn't think you're getting it and the team falls in love with someone else at your position, you're screwed. Time will tell if Jones is an upgrade over Strong.

Correct, Strong was cut to make room for Andy Jones. Whether it was attitude, lack of understanding routes or what ever else, the team just gave up on Strong.

I wonder who will get Cushing's roster spot? I think Riley McCarron or Andy Jones gets told to stop cleaning out his locker?
Looks like OT Jah Reid is taking the spot of Cushing. The team has a crap ton of faith in the 2 rookie ILB and prefers to add a 10th offensive lineman. It's been a while since we've only had 4 ILB, I hope Cole and Cunningham can continue to bring the heat on special teams even with the increase in defensive snaps

They added Hamilton & Pruitt to the practice squad, or Hamilton to the 53 & Pruitt to the practice squad?
Both are practice squad guys. TE Pruitt is taking the spot of Baylis who is now on the active roster. WR Hamilton is taking the spot of Riley McCarron who was released. That's a tough cut to see. Nicknamed the Iowa Flash, he looked like a stud in OTAs and then the pads came on. Several people compared him to Welker but today's NFL is far more physical than it used to be.

Agreed,

But the NFL is light yrs away from being as physical as it used to be.

Not being able to hit people in the head in a certain cases doesn't make the game less physical. The players are bigger and faster.
You need to tell me about the QB protection rules or defenseless WR rules etc.... and the any hard hit is unnecessary roughness rules.

This isn't even taking into account when a runner lowers his head and heads bang together there is always a penalty on the defender even though there's nothing he can do about the hit.

I forgot you like the new rules of today's NFL, so I'm wasting my time.

You said not as physical. That's BS. It's actually more physical with The bigger faster players. The accurate statement would be there are more circumstances which are protected.

And QBs can still get the dog snot hit out of them. Just can't go for heads or knees while they are passers.

One of these days you learn the difference between liking something and being ok with itt.

You need to talk to some players from the Tagliague era. He** ask Earl Campbell himself. Ronnie Lott couldn't even play in the NFL today.

If you truly believe this you're blind. I think you're just being argumentative. But if not we will have to agree to disagree again.

Jones and Ellington should be very nice 4th and 5th receivers. Ellington is an ideal 5'9 slot receiver and Jones at 6'4 220 can handle the outside.
If he can avoid injuries, especially soft tissue injuries which he has been unable to avoid throughout his career. The 49ers tried him at the slot, he was never considered a very good option.

Busy day for Texans. They worked out former Southern cornerback Josh Thornton, defensive backs Corey White and linebackers Josh Thornton and Josh Mauga, and defensive backs B.W. Webb, Stanley Jean-Baptiste and Johnthan Banks today.

Makes me more suspicious that the "not serious" injury sustained by JJo is my first impression of an A-C shoulder separation.

Musical chairs. Texans cut tight end Evan Baylis who was promoted just last week to the 53........if clears waivers will probably end up back on the PS. Wonder who's going to be signed.

Lots of churning the roster now as opposed to the off-season round of free agency. :juggle:

It's a whole lot cheaper to go about business this way rather than paying up for better players in FA.

Those chickens are starting to come home to roost.

Happy to have SJB on the team. Former Husker.

ok but whom did Obrien fall in love with? The Jacksonville Dolphins college player? Surely not the Dallas PS player with no stats?

Texans expected to sign former Buccaneers cornerback Johnthan Banks, according to a source

Former 2nd round pick who had a solid first 2 years of his career but appears to have declined for whatever reason. Tall rangy CB.
He has been considered a bust.......after the 1st 2 years, he fell off a cliff and was gotten rid of in 2016 for a 7th rounder. He did no better with the Lions and Bears......Oh my!

He did pretty well with tall receivers, but got smoked by any one with any speed. Knee and hip problems followed him with the Bucs. He never developed a lower body base and in general was considered very weak........a combination that does not do well with a tall CB. When he was 1st traded, he ranted publicly about the Buc coaches being the problem. When he went to the Lions, he initially boasted that he would turn into a star because he was reunited with cornerbacks coach Tony Oden, who worked with him during his rookie season. Problem was that his performance continued to be very borderline, routinely getting turned around as he didn't even live up to his questionable Draft 4.61 speed.

Johnthan Banks Arrives to Houston

In the NFL life, everything happens quick and that was the case with newly signed Johnthan Banks. Banks worked out on Tuesday along with four others tryout hopefuls, and he was signed by the team.

Banks came to Houston with his necessities and a few changes of clothes to tryout and is now going to live the NFL life week to week. No car, no place of his own and just the basics of what he brought on the flight to Houston.

Now studying the playbook for this upcoming week, Banks will join his new teammates to prepare for the Patriots. He will live in the team hotel for the time being until the situation is more known for the long haul.
