my opinion on RB vs. VY

Ryan

THIS YEAR
on this whole reggie bush vs. vince young debate, here is my opinion.

I think no matter who the texans select, they will be a better team and a more exciting team to watch. Reggie Bush will be a dominant rb in the nfl. If he is selected to the texans, he and domanick will make a dangerous combo. You have bush, an outside runner, and davis, more of a power runner. If you give them both 15 to 20 carries each game, the possibilities could be endless.

Now, for Vince Young. As a diehard aggie fan, i am not usually a big fan of anybody with burnt orange jerseys. But, Watching Vince Young these past couple of years, i was just hoping we could have a chance to draft him. this past season on Madden 06, i created Vince Young and put him on the texans, not knowing at the time that we actually could have a chance at drafting him in the 06 NFL Draft. He is an outstanding player that is also gonna be a really special player.

If i was the owner of the texans, who would i pick??? i would have to go with(drumroll)...............................Vince Young. No matter who we pick, i am not gonna be like some of these *****s and stop being a texans fan.

I agree with you, we can not lose with whoever they draft. The big question is are you willing to put up with another 3-4 mediocore yrs. while we wait on VY to develope into a quality NFL QB? You would have to think VY will more than likely get a bigger contract than RB, meaning that the Texans will have less money to possibly go after some quality FA's. Just a thought. Tell me what you think.

I will be happy regardless of us picking RB, VY or trading down.
If I had to rank it I would say:
1. RB
2. Trade Down
3. VY

The big question is would you trade Reggie Bush and David Carr for Vince Young. I wouldn't...and that is basically what you are doing by picking Vince.

Out of curiosity how did you rate Young on Madden?

If we draft Reggie, I hope management puts a clause in his contract forbidding him from ever appearing on the Madden cover. That is a nightmare waiting to happen.

he was a 92 whenever i finished rating him.

ok... the highest rookies are ever rated is 85, and Vince won't get that. Methinks you overrated him quite a bit. Bush might end up an 82 or so and I'm not sure Vince even cracks 80 right away.

But remember that Vince can make kittens out of sunlight, so he could be (or should be) the first player to rate 100 on a Madden game.

To follow up, myself and two of my messabe board compadres created both Bush and Vince on Madden by comparing them to various guys already in the league and how they are rated and came to a general consensus among us. Vince ended up being rated between 77 and 80 depending on the variation of a couple of his ratings and Bush came out rated between 80 and 82 depending on a couple of those ratings, and comparing those overall ratings to other guys in the league and recent rookies at QB and RB I think those overall ratings are pretty accurate.

If you think either one, let me put in my two cents:

If the Texans pass on Vince and he goes to Tennessee, which is the most likely spot, that means the we have to play him twice a year AND beat him out every year for the division. Now, not only do we have to beat Peyton Manning twice a year, but also Vince. That doesn't sound to good for me.

Now think about this, because Tennessee wants Vince real bad.

For all you people that think Reggie is really the answer, then wouldn't the smart thing to do be to draft Vince and hold the Titans hostage, then trade him for the world to the titans.

New Orleans will still take Matt, because that is their biggest need. That means we could then draft Reggie at 3rd.

See I think Reggie will be around at 3. As long as we don't trade with anyone outside of 1-3, then we could get either one at 3, since Matt is pretty much a lock at 2.

Now I wouldn't care which one we got a the 3rd spot and we could still get something else also, which we need so desperately.

The 3rd spot is ideally where we wan't to pick, not only to save money on the pick, but also, because we could get something for trading down and if Reggie is there, then take Reggie, if Vince is there then take Vince. If the Titans did decide to take Reggie then we could still get Vince at the 3.

Everybody might be able to argue one or the other, but no one can argue with one and another pick or an up and coming DL or OL.

Not to mention this is the strongest RB free agent market and draft in a long time, if ever.
