Young and Carr

Can't we draft Young and keep Carr. Many think that qb is not a need, but qb is a need as we do not have a franchise qb. Can David Carr become a great qb? Maybe. Can Vince Young become a great qb? Maybe. The deal is we are risking our future by putting all eggs in one basket whether it be Young or Carr. Draft Young and give Carr the competition this position needs. If he does well, that's great, if he bombs we have a great insurance policy in Vince Young. It's a win win situation for the texans. It would not hurt vince to sit a year if he does not beat our carr. We would definately be better at the qb position. It could happen. If Carr does great, we could still get a good trade for young. If carr does not pick it up, we have a great insurance policy in young.

It's not uncommon to put all your eggs into one basket. Especially with the QB position.

My position, is that we've been holding the same basket for the last 4 years, and they're starting to smell. I don't think it's David's fault that he got sacked all those years, but I haven't seen anything to suggest, that he is better than how he's played. Even Bradshaw during those ugly years, looked like he had something special....... McNabb, you can see it. Vick, even though he doesn't look like a QB, he looks special.

Man, Bradshaw was awful and the fans and media nearly ran him out of town in the early years.

This is not meant directly at you.

BUT, I am so tired of hearing people stating that we should draft VY and keep Carr. This idea was stupid, illogical, and short sighted from the momen John McClain brought it up. There is NO WAY the Texans are going to invest this much money and/or draft picks in this position, when everyone that the organization has talked to is of the opinion that David Carr is not the cause of the teams woeful performance over the last 4 years. You do not have to top pick in the draft twice in years and draft a QB, especially when the QB you already have shows promise.

John McClain is a hack and those within the organization cannot believe that anyone would ever consider this insane thought. Additionally, I spoke with Mr. McClain a week and a half ago and he would not even let me get two words out before he shot any suggestion of the Texans trading down and selecting someone other than VY/Bush. Yet, in today's article in the Chronicle he at least acknowledges the idea that trading down is a real possibility, but he cannot help himself, and must get back onto the VY gravy train. Why does everyone outside of Houston think it is crazy that the VY talking is even happening? Take off the beer goggles, please. I am not advocating for drafting Bush either, all I am saying is that after the exercise of Carr's option today it makes NO since to also waste the first pick and $50 million on another QB. I do not care if he is superman himself.:homer:

bdiddy,

Amen. It would be one of the most foolish football decisions in NFL history to purchase a young, starting qb's extension and then turn around and draft a qb with the first pick - and try to keep them both. This whole debate is actually becoming amusing. Folks, give it up - VY will not be a Texan. Let's start discussing either Bush or trading down?

McClain is one of the worst sport's "writers" I have ever seen - I cannot believe that his football knowledge is this low, so what is his angle...? He has proven over these last few months that he certainly is not kept in the loop by this franchise and that must help account for his absolutely horrendous reporting.

That is so true. They, the media thought he was a stupid hick. If anything he lucked into the Qb because Joe Guilium I think that was his name Blew himself up with drugs and alchol otherwise Bradshaw would have been on the bench.

you see to change that 'maybe' into a 'probably' or 'should be' you have to put quality players around the qb-neither will do good without an o-line or receivers. and the texans have chosen carr to be their qb.
