Wow........ I just realized Kansas City went 10-6 in '05, and still missed the playoffs. Is it possible for the Texans to go 10-6 next year?? Let's forget about the draft for now. And look at our team. Do you think we were better than a 2-14 team, and just didn't play like it, or are we really that bad??

Without a doubt, I think if we were 10-6 this year and missed the playoffs, it would still be considered a success. Maybe, maybe I should just hope to be better than .500 next year. 9-7. What do you think??

This team as it stands right now w/ Kubiak would go 6-10, 7-9. I firmly believe it.

As far as next year, I think it is possible we could go 8-8, 9-7 even. But we do have a tough schedule and a lot of things that have to come together for us. Not that we can't, but I would be uncomfortable betting on it. Still, 8-8 is very plausible, IMO.

Predictions are fun, but there is way to much off season left to offer one.

Agreed. Waaay too much left to happen. Just saying that, reasonably speaking, and presuming a lot (including wise off season moves, etc.) that 8-8, even 10-6 is possible. Da Bears did similarly.

Bears had a defense that made up for its atrociuos offense. We are totally built and paid for to be an offensive juggernaut, just waiting to see if the coach can change history's course. I am not as optimistic as you, but will have no problem eating crow in those 10 games if it does come to fruition.

With Vince Young playing next year, the team would go 2-14. He ran a gimmick offense at UT that would never work in the NFL. He wouldn't last 6 games in the NFL running as much as he did in college.

The team will be much better with Carr and Bush next year than it would be with VY and DD.

UT people need to come to grips with reality.

We need to beat the Cowboys. And KT, we are a different team personnel wise than the Bears, my only point being that, with the new coach and dependant on how we fare in this offseason, I believe we could be poised for a similar turnaround.

7-9 with the new coaching and a bad draft.

8-8 with an excellent draft - I don't think the rookies will have that much impact. Maybe stretch it to 9-7 with luck and a few breaks going our way the team is due some after last year.

After looking at the schedule i think 6-10 1s a realistic goal for this year.

If everything this offseason goes perfect I could see us winning nine games. But that still isnt very realistic I think seven games is a possibility.

9-7 with Kubiak, a good draft, and barring injuries at key positions

For the last 4 years, we've been getting injuries at all kinds of positions, and all of them have been killing us. I don't really know what the problem is, but I hope the Texans think-tank is on the ball, and have a real solution.

But what I'd like to know from you guys, along with real projections of next year, where do you think we should have finished in 2005? Is 2-14 about right?? 4-14?? were we lucky to win those 2 games??

I firmly believe that the way the Texans practiced had an impact on injuries. The Texans had many more sessions in full pads with full contact than some other teams. I think this leads to injuries and fatigue, especially in the heat of training camp. One notable example of a team that does less contact in the pre-season and in-season practice - drum roll please - Denver.

We absolutely should have won 5 games. I think that 6 or 7 may have been possible, but 5 should have been the bare minimum last season.
Whatever the reason, fate, bad luck, the stars aligning against us... playing for the 1st pick, whatever... we still should have won five games.

All sarcasm aside, we should have been at least 7 - 9 last year and I think that .500 is a possibility in 2006 .... I would be amazed if we're closer to 2 - 14 than 8 - 8 ....

So do the VY people think Vince is ready to play right now? This is a question I would like answered by some of you guys. I think he is gonna be a good QB but dont think he is anywhere near ready to play right now.

I am not sure if we go 19-0 with VY because come Christmas time VY will be pretty busy delivering all of those toys, healing the sick, curing the blind and turning coal into diamonds for all the ladies. So I say 18-1. If we draft VY otherwise we go 0-16.

That sounds like a nice title for another thread. This has nothing to do with Vince/Reggie

Come on, I want to know about how you guys feel the overall talent level of this team was last year.... pre-Vince/Reggie....

I mean were we really that bad??

Do we expect the coaches to be able to help Carr only, or the whole team. I've always thought we had a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. But at 2-14....

after looking at our schedule this is what i think(presuming bush/brick) in draft and a solid FA- nothing too radical

Best:12-4/11-5
Worst:3-13/4-12
Acceptable:6-10

What i expect:8-8(mainly down to improved coaching and the fact we could've easily been a 6-10 team this year)

I believe we can go 8-8 with the right people on offense and defense, a lil more aggresive play calling, and of course better coaching.

With VY we could go 13-3 next season.

With Carr 5-11.

:stirpot:
Yeah, i'm sure Vince could fit a 13-3 record into his schedule of walking on water, raising the dead and turning water into wine.

First, we don't have the talent, right now, to do much if any better than last year. As long as we're looking at Pitts, Brown, McKinney, Weigert and Wade across the front, and Buchanon at CB and Babin at DE, we're a bad team. Yeah, maybe 4-12 instead of 2-14, but not competitive.

But it isn't really a fair question as we haven't seen what'll happen in free agency or the draft. Not that I have any confidence in CC to make any improvements

I feel strongly we should draft VY. Yes, we may not have as good a record in 2006, but we'll have a better team over the next 10 years. To me, the pick isn't about just 2006. It's about transforming a franchise that's headed to perpetual mediocrity

I'm new to this forum but I own four Club Level I PSLs and have been to every regular season home game the Texans have ever played. I have supported the team very strongly over the last four years. But if we screw up this draft, I'm outta here -

So I take that to mean if VY isn't taken by the Texans you going to support the team he goes to. If so, what do you want for your PSls? Parking pass?

Let's talk on April 23. I just can't see continuing to pay > $10,000 a year for tickets. So I'm going to do nothing (including not paying the first installment) until the draft. If we draft Vince, I'm keeping my tickets, if we don't, my PSLs are for sale. I'll only have about a week to sell them so anyone who's interested, contact me then

I'm sorry...but does anyone else find this "I brought the ball, and if I don't get picked first, I'm taking my ball and going home" attitude funny, or is it just me? Why doesn't McNair just rename this team the Houston Vince Youngs?

Vince can also: waterski without a boat, turn water into beer, and don't forget his cancer curing tears... if only he would cry. :crying:

The last 2 years wins combined don't even equal 10. Hmmmm. So I say 3-13 to 5-11. And that doesn't matter who we draft.
