Rank the TOP 4 QB's in this years draft

From this draft who do you think are going the be the best NFL QB's.

This is my personal ranking:

1. Cutler - He has by far the best arm, the quickest release, good vision and did a great job while being on a Teir 2 team against stiff competition. When facing tough competiton in the senior bowl he clearly stood head and shoulders above the rest. I see him being in the peyton manning mold of players.

2. Leinart - Obviously he had the best college career of any QB entering the draft. Proven leader and is very clutch, extremely accurate passer. There are questions about his arm strength.

3. Young - Certainly the most exciting player, he is an amazing runner no doubt about it and a pretty good passer. Given the type of offense Texas ran and how he was used in the offense, he is the biggest risk of the QBs but might have the biggest upside. (I have him and Leinart rated very close, but Leinart proved more in college and has less question marks.)

4. Croyle - Rated high by many draft experts but in my mind he still has way too much to prove. Would be a decent 2nd round pick.

Prepare to be flamed by the Young lovers for this post...

Good to see Young not rated #1 and someone else who likes Croyle. I think cutler is overrated.

My list:

1. Leinart
2. Omar Jacobs
3. Cutler
4. Young
5. Croyle
6. Grabadorskie (sp) qb from Toledo
7. Drew Olson
8. Charlie Whiteherst
9. Guy from Miami OH

My list is not based on Athletes/Players. I ranked them as QB'S

What effect (if any) does leinart's knee issue (surgery/ the big brace) have on his draft status? Is that brace purely precautionary or is he needing that thing to play?

I think most people would think Cutler is the best if he had any talent around him.
Cutler got by on physical talent and luck. He is a great prospect, like Farve. He is a gunslinger, and has little fear or notion that one of his passes could be picked off.

Jacobs appears to be the "dark horse" of the QB class.

3 Croyle
4 whitehurst
5 omar jacobs

only messing- it would be nice to anger a few VY lovers but seriously i would rank young 2/3rd

I agree with most of ur points made, but ur forgetting that Omar Jacobs through for 41 TDs and only 4ints as a soph. Plus he runs a 4.55, and hes 6'4 with perfect accuracy, but besides my point, who do u think will get omar jacobs, do the texans have a chance.

Nunusguy just said that omar is the 2nd best runnin QB and the 3rd best Passing QB , which still averages out of him being the best QB in the draft and if the Lions were smart they would pick him up instead of letting Arizona get him and waste more time on Joey Harrington.

Does anyone think that if Omar does good in the combine that he can get taken in the first round. By what i have heard from some draft experts, Jacobs will be a better NFL Prospect then Leinart does anyone agree on this?

just because he'll throw 30+ tds in the IFL(Incarceration Football League) doesnt mean hes the 3rd best qb

After the combine/pro day Jacobs will the the 2nd QB taken (my bold prediction) I have him going to the lions as of right now.

No QB is a better prospect than Leinart. Not Young, not Cutler, Not Jacobs.

The only problem I have with this is Cutler had a bad Senior Bowl. He was 6 of 19 for 69 yards an interception and a TD. Not too stellar.

I'd say for who will end up being better in the long run. I think 1 or 2 are interchangebale and will both be successful for whatever team they are on.

Young
Leinart
Cutler
Croyle

Did anyone notice many of the people who put Young as the best quarterback also got usernames in Jan. 2006. I just thought that was interesting.

I also find it funny that I joined the site before VY declared and that I am for taking Bush in the draft. I'm just not going to hate because I am tired of his fans. The board has taken a huge swing and for the most part there are more threads with ridiculous posts ripping the guy for non-existent faults than explaing who they want to draft. People need to grow up and realize that you can cheer for a guy to be drafted without hating on the other people. Leinart, VY and Bush are all classy guys with good leadership and skills. I mean there is a vote for R. McNeil on here and that guy is a quitter.

I'll rank more than just the top 4, since it's not the same group of guys depending on whether you're talking about their current skills and NFL abilities or going off of future potential:

QBs by current talent/NFL-readiness:
1) Matt Leinart (Southern California)
2) Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt)
3) Brodie Croyle (Alabama)
4) Omar Jacobs (Bowling Green)
5) Charlie Whitehurst (Clemson)
6) Vince Young (Texas)
7) Bruce Gradkowski (Toledo)
8) Darrell Hackney (UAB)
9) D.J Shockley (Georgia)
10) Marcus Vick (Virginia Tech)
11) Reggie McNeal (Texas A&M)

QBs including future potential/expectations:
1) Matt Leinart (Southern California)
2) Vince Young (Texas)
3) Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt)
4) Omar Jacobs (Bowling Green)
5) Brodie Croyle (Alabama)
6) Charlie Whitehurst (Clemson)
7) Marcus Vick (Virginia Tech)

Has anyone else noticed that if you got your username BEFORE Jan. 2006 it seems to make your opinion better than everyone else's.

I'd put Young at the top and I have a pretty old user name. Trying to cut people down or implying they don't know what they are talking about for liking Young or Carr or Bush is just ridiculous. It really doesn't matter if you have one post or a billion. A long posting history doesn't mean you have a long history of credible observation.

Rack it :ok:

I've been here longer than Texans86 so I guess my opinion is much more credible than his/hers, and like Vinny, think Vince Young is the best QB in this year's draft.

Draft Guru
Here is my list with comments on how I think the Qbs careers will go. I will just do the top 4.

1) Vince Young (Texas): I see him as the second coming of Randell Cunningham. He can run and he can throw the ball. He is accurate and has a good arm. Most importantly, he can throw on the run. He is also huge in terms of height (6'4 or 6'5) and weight (235 or 240). So I do not expect him to be particulalry injure prone.

2) Omar Jacobs (Bowling Green): This guy is very similar to VY except not as hyped. He and VY was what Vick was supposed to be, the "new QB" who can run or throw the ball. He will have a great career and might get to a pretty decent team. He is a scary prospect becuase he is very much VInce young like(or lite). He could be the next Ben Roethlisber type of QB: solid QB dropping to a good team. He is my sleeper of the group.

3) Matt Leinart (Southern California): I know that he was a very good college QB, but I am not compleley sold on him as a pro. I am concerned about his knees and his ability to move around the pocket. He looked decent moving around in the Rose Bowl game, but I am still not complelty sold on him. He had a steller group around him at USC and I am not sold he will be able to replicate his success at the next level.

4) Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt): He was very underwhelming in the senior bowl. I was pretty disspaointed in it. He will have to have a good combine or he could drop to mid to late first round. He seems like a good prospect, but i do not know as much about him as the others.

ditto...i aint exactly got 1,000 posts since january 06....but i'd venture to say nobody really takes my opinion more seriously than the next. A long post history just means that i've had nothing else to do for a while......I like young, some like bush...if everybody agreed, baskin robbins would have 1 flavor

1. Vince Young Endlles Potential i think the second coming of Randall C but 1000 times better.

2. Matt Leinart Cant Argue Great college Career and i see no reason why he wont be succesfull as a pro.

3. Jay Cutler very similar to patrick ramsey in my opinion but he might actually make it with a year or two sitting behind Kerry Collins.

the other QB's dont deserve a first round pick so i wont post.

HeartofHouston

Waterboy
1 - Jay Cutler
Great Arm, Quick Relase... man a name for himself with ABSOLUTELY NO talent around him.. no Bush, Byrd, Jarrett, Smith, White or All Pro Line. nor did he have.. David Thomas, Charles, Young, Sweed, Taylor or good defense.. and he still managed to make a name for himself carrying the team on his back.. Now that's a QB.. not to mention he plays in the SEC, in my opinon the roughiest conference for a QB..

2 - Vince Young
The Type of Offense that he was in pushes him down to #2 in my book, but he has good speed a rocket arm and good ball placement.

3 - Matt Leinart
Because of the talent around him its not hard to see why he turned out to be the winner that he is.. with both of your starting recievers being 6'4+ with great hands and a monster at TE, a all pro line.. and oh yeah.. those guys running the ball were pretty nice too (Bush/White). He would have been #1 but his arm strength is a little questionable.. seen him float some balls in the vs Texas game that resulted in tipped passes and an interception.

4 - Omar Jacobs
Good ball placement.. pretty good arm strength, plays very smart doesnt force the pass when its not there and has the pocket presence and the footwork to avoid the rush to scramble for extra yards. his lack of high level competition drops his down. and his senior season was nothing like his junior but never the less its an example of what he could possibly be and i like it..

Omar Jacobs does even make some of your list????

He is the second most acurate passer in the draft behind the guy from Toledo. Jacobs can scramble and has a very strong arm. He makes good decisions and does not force the ball.

Immediate Sucess QB's
1. Leinhert
2. Jacobs
3. Young
4. Cutler

Highest ceiling QB's
1. Young
1b. Jacobs
3. Cutler
4. Leinhert

Highest Potential bust QB's

Top gun slingers
1. Brodie Croyle
2. Cutler

Top QB/WR
1. Brad Smith
2. Reggie McNeal
3. Barrick Nealy

Best Pocket presence QB
1. Leinhert
2. Jacobs
3. Young
4. Nealy
5. Croyle

Order they should be drafted in
1. Leinhert
2. Jacobs
3. Young
4. Croyle
5. Cutler

Order they will be drafted in
1. Leinhert
2. Young
3. Cutler
4. Jacobs
5. Croyle

Forget this, Here is how i will rate the top four QBs and I will make a risky yet reliable one at the top.

1.Omar Jacobs

2.Jay Cutler

3.Vince Young

4.Matt Leinart

I notice me and youngtexan are the only ones that might think about putting Jacobs at numba 1.

The reason I think he will be the best NFL Prospect is he doesnt make many mistakes, when he plays big name teams.

2004, Oklahoma-BGSU, Outcome= OK-40,BGSU-24

Omar Jacobs 2TD, 0Int

2005, Wisconsin-BGSU, Outcome=UW-56, BGSU-42

Omar Jacobs 5TD, 0Int

Jacobs has great footwork, a slightly above average arm, and makes arguably the best decisions (only arguable between him and leinhert.)

He has an odd motion, but that hasnt stopped most of your man crushes on Vince. Omar will be a great QB, and for where he is going to go, will be the steal of the draft in 3 years. He should also wind up on a good team. Maybe Miami? They are really close. Maybe Arizona in the 2nd?

I would take him in the first if I needed a QB. If I needed a QB quick, I would take him way before Young. He would push Leinhert for me because of his ability to move out of the pocket with ease and throw on the run.

Seems I got ripped for noting that of the people who had posted by the time I posted, had also joined the message board in Jan. 2006. Just a note. No one can deny the influx of new users at that time, and most of them for Mr. Young. Obviously, I only got this user-name last fall, and by no means have many posts compared to some. I have no problem with anyone who supports Young and backs up their support with more than "he is a leader and will turn anything he touches to gold.". Many of those posters did happen to join Jan. 2006 about within 24 hours of Young winning the Rose Bowl for Texas. Personally, I love the guy, and I think he will be a great QB, but I cannot honestly rate him higher than Leinhart.

I know im gonna get ripped for McNeil being 3rd. Hes faster than Young, and has a better arm and is a better passer. People have to look at his junior year over his senior year to see how good he is. Switch the teams and UT still goes undefeated and A&M goes 3-8 instead of 5-6. McNeil will be the sleeper of the draft.

I definitely wouldn't mind getting one of the speedy QBs in the 6th or 7th round, like Reggie McNeal, Michael Robinson, or even Marcus Vick, as they are fast enough they could play WR most of the time but still be brought in as a substitute QB if necessary and can be used in trick plays (similar to what Randle El did in the playoffs a couple times). That said I wouldn't rate any of those in the top 4-5 QBs in the draft as I think at least McNeal and Robinson will be playing something other than QB the majority of their NFL careers.
