With the hiring of Smith as defensive coordinator it is a given we will run either a hybrid or 4-3 defense. With that said I heard they were going for a TE in FA so that leaves O-line needs and D needs and I for one think this guy would really make an impact on our team. Everyone has him going in the second or third rounds, but I think it would be wise to pick him up in the 2nd. This guy shows a lot of passion and if you look at his bio, you can tell this guy strives to be better. This guy brings a jolt to our defense, we are more than likely going offense in the first round be it RB or DF so picking this guy up would balance that out. I know there are alot of other players we could get but my gut tells me this guy could really give the Texans a boost. Any thoughts.

If we dont get Mario/Kiwi then I would hold off on DE until Ray Edwards in the 3rd. He has GREAT size, similar to the forementioned guys. His ability and potential are off the charts. He falls because he left early due to inept coaching and lack of polish.

YTF good to see ya on the boards man. Anyway like Ray Edwards, but he is a 4th at best and guys like Parys from Tenn will likely pass him up. He is a definate option though. BTW many people are saying Tapp will be around in the third as will Dumerville unless he shows that his lack of high end production and measurables will let him succeed as a 34 OLB.

Ray Edwards is going to be drafted on potential. He is rough around the edges. Tapp is likely to fall, but Dumerville will fall the most. He lacks size, speed, and numbers against good teams.

for what its worth in NFL Countdown's top 100 Darryl Tapp is rated 85th, Elvis Dumervil 95th :twocents:

the Texans will see how Babin & Peek perform @ DE both should be more effective playing their natural positions. Wong & Greenwood are more natural 4-3 LB'S but what the Texans need is a true MLB out of this draft. A player like Lofa Tatupu, who can read defenses, become the leader of the defense & someone who is not afraid to put his helmet on the line. Lofa was a 2nd rd. pick (#45) all he has done is lead the Seahawk defense to the Superbowl. Odell Thurman was rated higher pre-draft but went a couple picks latter (#48) to Cincinnati all he did was lead the team in tackles while picking up defensive rookie of the year honors (which now look a little pre-mature, but still a worthy pick for sure).

Darryl would be a value pick in the 3rd rd. really I'd have no problem with him becoming a Texan, in the 2nd/3rd rds. however I'd almost bet the Texans go after a MLB. D'Qwell Jackson Maryland 6-1 231 4.65, Abdul Hodge Iowa 6-2 234 4.70 or Kai Parham Virginia 6-3 253 4.70 :twocents:

Good post.

I just don't know if our cap situation at LB allows us to address MLB early. I would love McIntosh later. Parham would be great also.

Other later round defensive players I want:
Ko Simpson RD 2
Ray Edwards RD 4
Dwayne Slay RD 5
Roderkius Wright RD 7/undrafted
